The police chief frowned and glanced at Liam, displeased.
Liam panicked. “Officer, they are lying! I was beaten up right here at the entrance! They are in cahoots
with the guy. They’re lying!”
The police captain waved his hand. “Enough! After we check the footage, we’ll know what happened. But
I’m warning you guys; giving false testimony is against the law. You’ll pay if you really did give a false
testimony!”
The few security guards nodded at the same time. “Officer, we are telling the truth. We didn’t give false
testimony! From how I see it, he’s deliberately trying to frame people!”
Liam was so angry he almost went crazy. “You guys are accusing me! Don’t you have a conscience?
Why won’t you tell the truth?”
No one paid attention to him.
The security guards all worked for Tiger, and Tiger had already given them orders on what to say.
Liam gritted his teeth. “Fine, you guys sure are ballsy! But let me tell you guys that there’s no use lying.
We have CCTV cameras all over this place. That there is solid evidence! When we get the evidence, I’ll
make sure you guys face the consequences of lying!”
The head of the security guards replied slowly, “Mr. Hayes, we are telling the truth. You, on the other
hand, lied to the officer. This is not a small crime!”
“Still being stubborn, I see!” Liam said angrily. I’d like to see how long you guys can remain stubborn!”
Not long after, the person who went to get the footage returned.
“Did you find anything?” the police chief asked.
That person shook his head. “The CCTV cameras had malfunctioned and didn’t record anything today.
They’ve already called for repairs.”
The police chief frowned. “Is this a coincidence?”
Liam was dumbfounded. If he didn’t have the footage and those witnesses didn’t want to help him, how
was he going to sue Pete?
“Officer, they did it on purpose! They lied and broke the CCTV cameras on purpose because they want
to frame me! Officer, you have to help me!” Liam said with a crying voice.
The police chief glanced at him. Although he didn’t know what was going on, he could see that Liam was
not welcomed here.
Otherwise, why would no one speak up for him?
“We’ll look into this matter and get to the bottom of this! But before that, I hope everyone will cooperate!
If in the end, our investigation leads us to discover that you lied to us, you’ll have to bear the legal
responsibilities!”
With that said, the police chief led his men away.
Liam was frozen in place, completely stunned, whereas the security guards laughed while walking to
Tiger.
Tiger glanced at Liam. “Mr. Hayes, I told you before that you can’t cut corners here at the construction
site! Just look. You were the one who hired people to set up those CCTV cameras. I don’t know how
much kickback you had gotten from having such useless garbage installed. Otherwise, how else could
they have malfunctioned right when you needed them? Oh, you really reap what you sow!”
While saying this, Tiger led the security guards to swagger past Liam.
Liam was so mad he almost breathed fire, but in the end, he didn’t dare to say a word.
Tiger was much more ruthless than Pete!
With everything that happened, Liam was too embarrassed to stay here any longer.
He drove home quickly and prepared to ask Demi to come back to discuss how they should deal with
Matthew.
As soon as he entered the house, he saw James, Helen and Demi sitting in the room, all of them furious.
“Dad, Mom, why are you guys back?” Liam was surprised.
“I should be the one asking you that!” James replied angrily. “What is with the captain of the security
team that you’ve arranged to work in the company? He chased us out in the end, you—”
“Huh? What happened to you?”
It was only then did they realize how disheveled Liam looked.
