Are You Looking for These Centipedes?
After the centipede crawled out, Leanne’s best friend’s body went limp before she fell onto the bed.
Leanne hid behind Matthew in fear and refused to let go of her grip on his arm.
“Don’t be afraid. This centipede is not harmful anymore,” Matthew explained before he took a ceramic
bottle out to keep the blood centipede.
Although Leanna sighed in relief, she still looked terrified. “Mr. Larson, if someone is rearing centipedes
here, do we have to move away as soon as possible? I mean, we can’t stay here any longer. It’s too
dangerous!”
Matthew smiled before saying, “You don’t have to worry. As I said, the person who is rearing the
centipedes does not mean any harm. Your friend only got cursed because of her body condition, and
it’s not on purpose. If not, the two of you would have died. I’ve checked the place where the person
reared their centipedes. Although people used to walk past that area, most of them were fine except for
this elderly man in the village. As he plucked the medicinal plant used to feed the centipedes, he was
poisoned by the three-leaf plant and was slightly sick.”
Nevertheless, the elderly man was only poisoned instead of cursed, as the three-leaf plant was a
poisonous plant used to rear the centipedes.
Hence, he was poisoned when he plucked the plant and wanted to show it to the other villagers.
Right then, Leanna urged, “What about my friend’s condition? When will she recover? I-If she keeps
attracting these centipedes, she might get cursed again in the future.”
Yet, Matthew reassured her. “Your friend will be completely healed after a month. She’ll be fine. By right,
it’s hard to run into these centipedes in these kinds of places. This time, it’s a special case as someone is
rearing them here. Still, you don’t have to worry. Since I’m already here, I’ll settle everything for you. I’ll
find that person by tonight!”
Shocked, Leanna asked, “W-Will you be able to find this person?”
Matthew nodded. “This type of centipede has to be fed every day, so the person who rears them must
come over every day. Moreover, they only eat during the night, so that person must be coming later. You
should rest now. I’ll wait for this person to show up.”
After Matthew left, Leanna stayed in her room while looking around with a pale expression, afraid to fall
asleep.
Meanwhile, Matthew went back to the back of the mountain and hid on top of a tree. Although the woods
were humid at night, he wasn’t harmed by it, as his blood was rushing after he cultivated the Divine Skill.
While meditating, Matthew started listening closely to his surroundings. Suddenly, he heard soft
footsteps when it was around midnight.
Alerted, Matthew opened his eyes and turned in the direction of the sound.
In the dark, a figure in black, along with a black hood, ran over.
The figure was extremely quick and looked as if they were running on the flat ground despite moving
around in the mountain.
Not long after, the figure reached the centipedes gathering place. Then, the figure took a bag out and
opened it before pouring some powder on the ground.
After that, they sat by the side and waited for the centipedes to appear patiently. Nevertheless, not one
centipede appeared after waiting for a long time.
Confused, the figure quickly ran over and looked around before plucking a three-leaf plant out to see an
empty hole.
Immediately, their facial expression changed, and they quickly plucked out a few other three-leaf plants
to see the same thing. There was a tiny hole beneath the three-leaf plant, but there was nothing in the
hole!
All of the centipedes that were supposed to be hidden under the plant were all gone. The figure’s eyes
widened in disbelief.
Right at this moment, a voice rang out from the back. “Are you looking for the centipedes?”
