Samuel was awakened by Lucas.
He felt depressed under Lucas' unfriendly gaze.
He lost sense of time in his sound sleep because of both the tiredness and Nicole who was still in his
arms.
Samuel got up quickly and walked out of the bedroom quietly with his clothes in his hand, as he didn't
feel like waking up Nicole. Seeing Lucas was waiting at the door, he couldn't help asking, "What's the
matter?"
"It's early evening and I'm hungry. Could you cook for me? Petty and Zac are out for work. I intended to
order a takeout, but Grandpa Mark once told us that the takeout were cooked with gutter oil which was
not good for health, especially for children. I had struggled and waited for a long time before going find
you."
Lucas sounded aggrieved at the end of his explanation.
Samuel checked the time, and it was five o'clock in the afternoon.
He felt sorry and apologized, "I see. I'm sorry about my oversleeping. I'll cook after washing my face."
"Mm-hmm."
After this short response, Lucas walked down the stairs proudly.
Samuel had a feeling that something was wrong.
He finally figured out what his bad feeling was about after putting on his clothes.
"Where are Zoe and Joseph? Why didn't that foodie Zoe come find me?"
Samuel couldn't help but sigh when he recalled the timid look of Zoe on his return this noon.
At this question, Lucas turned his head suddenly and said in surprise, "What did you say? Zoe was not
sent out by you?"
Samuel was stunned.
"Excuse me, why would I send them out? When I came back, the two of them were watching TV in the
living room. When I went back to my bedroom, they also went back to their bedrooms respectively.
What happened? Where are they?"
Hearing these words, Lucas ran downstairs and pushed open the door of Zoe's room.
'Her coat is left in the room. Did she go out without a coat?'
Samuel realized something happened.
He followed down in a hurry.
"I'll go get the surveillance video."
"There was a power outage today for the overhaul of the electric wires, so there would be no
surveillance video at all."
Lucas' statement made Samuel somewhat uneasy.
"Then what do you suggest?"
They stared at each other for a while, then Lucas ran out with his coat.
"Wait, I'll go with you. But let me tell your mommy first. Otherwise, she should feel worried."
Lucas swallowed his refusal and nodded for Samuel's serous look.
Samuel ran upstairs. Seeing that Nicole was still asleep, he felt sorry to wake her up.
"Nicole, I'm afraid we have to go out."
"What happened?"
Nicole yawned. It was a sound sleep, and she still felt a bit drowsy.
Samuel felt sorry about her, and explained in a low voice, "Zoe and Joseph are out for fun, and not
come back yet. Lucas and I are going out to find them."
"Where could they go? They are not at Uncle Mark's?"
Nicole rubbed her eyes.
Samuel whispered, "I don't know, you stay at home. Lucas and I will go check."
"I'll go with you."
Nicole patted her face softly to wake herself up, then went change quickly.
During his wait for Nicole, Samuel picked up his phone from the bedside table and found a message
from Zoe.
He turned pale at this message.
"Zoe is in danger."
His voice was cold.
Nicole paused for a moment.
She could calm herself down quickly now, thanks to all those past experiences.
"Any clues?"
"Yes!"
Samuel became ferocious, but he didn't say anything and threw the phone to Lucas directly.
"Lucas, check the location of the message. I'm going to check the license plate number. I wonder who
is so audacious to hurt my daughter!"
Samuel started his research by turning on the computer and hitting on the keyboard.
Lucas lost no time and began his searching for the exact location immediately.
It took Lucas not long to find the location.
"Samuel, they are in the suburbs."
Nicole was wordless but led the way out after inserting the hem of her blouse into her trousers.
Samuel also found out the car owner.
He walked out coldly and called Laurence.
"I'll send you an address. Catch this car owner and bring him over."
Laurence knew that something bad had happened when he heard the word 'Catch'.
"Alright."
Laurence hung up the phone. Samuel and Lucas got in the car.
Nicole drove.
Nicole seldom drove, but Samuel did not dare to stop her, because he knew that she was infuriate now.
They arrived at the place with the instruction of Lucas. Nicole saw a terrible trail of blood stretching all
the way to the other end of the road.
Nicole and Samuel were terrified.
"Fingers crossed that this blood is not from our children, otherwise..."
Samuel grasped what was left in Nicole's sentence.
Lucas grew slightly pale with worries.
The family of three quickly ran towards the other end of the road.
At the other end of the road, the blood rolled down a slope.
Besides the slope there was a grove, and no one knew what was inside.
Zac arrived with his men.
"Search! Search carefully! We must find them."
Samuel's voice was shaky.
For the first time, he had a palpitation.
Zac sent his men down immediately.
Nicole wan anxious and intended to join the search, but was stopped by Samuel.
"You are not strong enough to search. Wait here. I promise that I will bring them back."
"No! I'm their mother!"
Nicole pushed away Samuel.
She wore flats on purpose when she left home.
When they found Zoe and Joseph, tears flooded in Nicole's eyes.
There was a lot of blood on Joseph's chest and scratches on Zoe's forehead and her body. Both of
them lose consciousness.
"Quick! Send them to hospital!"
Samuel held tight of Zoe, while Nicole hugged Joseph.
Both children had a fever, and still breathed.
Lucas almost cried out of this scene.
He bit his lower lip tightly and followed behind Samuel and Nicole without saying a word.
Laurence brought the car owner over when they were back on the road.
"Mr. and Mrs. Green, this is the driver."
The driver was dumbfounded at the sight of Nicole and Samuel.
He never thought that he had messed up with the children of Samuel!
Who was Samuel?
Everyone in the Seapolis City knew him.
'No wonder that brat dared to warn me like that, is it too late to regret?'
"Keep an eye on him. Find out his background and what happened today. I want every detail."
One could tell from Samuel's fury that this driver was in a hopeless situation.
Looking at Joseph in her arms, then turning to Zoe in front of her, Nicole stopped suddenly and said to
Lucas, who was also angry, "Lucas, please do Mommy a favor."
"Mommy, I am listening."
Lucas quickly restrained his rage.
Nicole looked at Joseph and whispered, "Break his ribs for me."
Laurence couldn't help glancing at Nicole, as it was the first time for him to hear such a ruthless order
from her.
This face that resembled Adela made him somewhat dazed.
Adela was so kind-hearted that she couldn't even hurt a passing ant. Now Nicole ordered Lucas to use
violence, Laurence couldn't help but frown at this.
Nicole knew his dislike, but only said coldly, "If you don't agree with my instruction, you may turn
around, close your eyes, and stuff your ears, or leave anytime."
These words hurt.
Laurence lowered his head and didn't say anything.
Lucas took off his coat, folded it well in silence and put it aside. Then, he looked at the driver coldly and
said, "You hurt my brother and sister, therefore, you have to pay the price!"
"No, no! This is a mistake! Listen to me!"
The driver was so frightened that he retreated in a hurry.
Although Lucas was only a child, but his fury was so ferocious that an adult was intimidated.
Nicole went on with Joseph in her arms.
Samuel did not bother to stop this violence, and he only instructed indifferently, "Just don't let him die."
"Alright."
Lucas began his assault.
He spent much more time in the military area than Joseph and Zoe, so his technique in martial arts was
better. He knew how to hurt a person without a trace.
A howl of anguish came from behind.
Samuel and Nicole got into the car expressionlessly and drove towards the hospital immediately.
They worry about Zoe and Joseph, but not Lucas who was taken care of by Laurence and Zac.
The car stopped at the entrance of the hospital. Through the green channel, Samuel sent the children
to the emergency room first.
The lights of the emergency room were on, and there were bloodstains on Samuel's hands.
Nicole looked at his palms and asked under her breath, "Do you think they will get through it?"
"Of course."
Samuel knew that Nicole must be blaming herself for not taking good care of the children.
He also blamed himself for this negligence. 'How could I have slept for so long, why didn't I chat with
them? Why didn't I know that they left home?'
But it's too late.
When he could do nothing to what had happened, Samuel just wished that Nicole wouldn't be over
excited, and their children would be more scared than hurt. But the bloodstains on his palms kept
reminding him that they might be afflicted with violence and pains.
Time passed, but the lights in the emergency room were still on, and Nicole was gloomy. She did not
cry as usual, which made Samuel worried.
This adamancy made Samuel's heart ache.
Just as Samuel felt that Nicole was about to lose her composure, the lights in the emergency room
finally went out. However, the doctor looked back, which made them have their hearts in their
mouths.
