Lucas stared at the empty computer screen, his mind blank.
When he realized what he had done, everything was over.
He actually could recover the deleted content, but he suddenly snapped shut the computer. A trace of
determination flashed through his eyes.
After tidying himself up, Lucas stood up and left the bathroom. Yasmeen was gone. He suddenly felt an
emptiness in his heart. He sat down on the bed, lost in thought.
Since he couldn’t hear anything, he was often in a daze. He thought about nothing, though.
When Nicole and Samuel came back, Lucas was napping.
He frowned slightly as if he was quite bothered even when sleeping. Looking at him, Nicole felt so
sorry.
She walked over and tucked her son into the quilt gently.
In the past, Lucas was quite alert when sleeping. He could wake up immediately when hearing the

Samuel explained hurriedly.

Unexpectedly, Phoenix was pregnant after ten years. She had been pregnant for four months when
they realized it, so they could only keep the baby. Not long ago, she gave birth to a baby girl. Until now,
she was still in the confinement month.
If they called Davon over at this time, it would be too inhumane.
Nicole was taken aback and said, “Let’s call Joseph. His brother is injured. He should come back to
check on Lucas, shouldn’t he?”
“Joseph is attending an international seminar right now, representing our country. Let alone calling him,
even the telegraph couldn’t reach him.”
Samuel was also worried about Lucas’s ears, but he was pretty rational.

Davon operated on Maddie several years ago, so she could speak like an average person now. She
had chosen to follow Blair and Gabrielle and went to a military medical school. After graduation, she
became a chief physician in the hospital of the military region.
Seeing Maddie, Nicole was quite delighted. She grabbed Maddie’s hand and said, “Lucas’s ear...”

She was pretty gentle.

“You and Lucas have gotten along very well since childhood. Please take good care of him for us,
Maddie,” said Nicole.

Maddie patted Nicole on the back of her hand, withdrew her hand, and politely took the group of
soldiers into Lucas’s ward.
Nicole frowned slightly, feeling a bit uneasy. When she was about to follow them in, Samuel stopped
her.
“What are you doing?”
Nicole glared at him.
Samuel explained in a low voice, “It’s a routine procedure. People from the military headquarters will
come to take his statement. It’s not proper for us to go in.”

Although Nicole was unhappy about it, she stopped. Samuel took her away, distancing themselves
from the ward.
When Maddie came in, Lucas had got up already.
Actually, as soon as Nicole left the ward, he woke up. He didn’t know what to say to Nicole, so he
pretended to nap.
Looking at the colleagues from the military headquarters, Lucas was relatively calm.
Concerns appeared in Maddie’s eyes. She walked up and checked him up. Then she said in a soft
tone, “Lucas, do not be nervous. It is a routine procedure.”
When she spoke, she looked at Lucas and said word by word as she knew Lucas could understand in
that way.
Lucas smiled and said calmed, “Maddie, you can leave first. I’m fine.”
“No, I’ll stay.”
Somehow, Maddie felt that Lucas was quite abnormal after getting injured this time.
Lucas didn’t insist.
Looking at the colleagues from the military headquarters, he said flatly, “It’s all my fault. When I shot, I
was absent-minded, so I didn’t notice the kidnapper’s mood and movements. Right then, I just wanted
to frighten the kidnapper and force him to surrender, but I pulled the trigger safety too early, so the
bullet was shot directly.”
Upon hearing Lucas’s words, Maddie instantly raised her head and looked at him. She said anxiously,
