"Is this all true?"
Una's heart was broken.
She might have guessed something before she got out, but she didn't expect these things to be even
crueler.
How could this be?
Her best friend Lillian never came back. Una thought that Lillian had settled down and did not want to
have anything to do with Una. So Una tried not to think about and ask about Lillian. However, she did
not expect that Lillian would have a daughter with her beloved man.
Una knew that she shouldn't care. After all, she was not even able to do the most basic thing as a
woman. She couldn't let Elvis be a monk for the rest of his life, but why was it Lillian?
Why?
Her best friend slept with her beloved one and had a child. Now the child was all grown up, yet she had
always been in the dark.
She felt as if someone had suddenly stabbed her with a knife. She was covered in blood, yet she
couldn't do anything but suffer from the extreme pain.
Una grabbed her collar and stared straight at Elvis.
Elvis almost collapsed.
"It's not what you think, Una. I don't love her. She's the one who crawled into my bed. I was drunk at
that time. And I've already punished her. She has had a miserable life for many years. It's the price she
must pay."
Hearing Elvis' words, Una wailed miserably.
"How could you do this? How could you? If Lillian likes you, you can tell me. You totally deserve it. But
why did you torture her like that? Why did you do such cruel things to your child? Elvis, that's your own
child! No matter who her mother is, her father is still you! Do you know how much I wish I could have
your child! Even if that woman is not me, I will still wish you happiness. But why did you lie to me? Why
did you treat Lillian like that? "
Una cried her heart out.
Nicole, on the other hand, showed no sympathy at all.
She sneered, "Don't play dumb. You already know what Elvis did for your condition, don't you? Can't
you tell those scientists were forced? Don't you expect a good result of those researches? You've tried
to maintain your innocence, but you want it to work more than anybody. You ignore what Elvis might
have done in the name of love. You are literally a phony, a fake!
Una's mask of innocence cracked.
She bit her lower lip, weeping pitifully. It almost broke Elvis' heart.
He knelt down and said painfully, "Nicole, let Una go. I know you want me. Just let her go, and I will go
with you."
"No! No!"
Una shook her head fiercely.
"What did you do? Why do they want you? Isn't Nicole your daughter-in-law? Isn't Samuel your son?
Why?"
Una suddenly turned around and clutched Nicole's hand.
"Can't you let him go? Everything he did was for me. If someone has to pay the price, it must be me.
I'm a terrible person. Elvis did so many wrong things for me. You can take me away."
"Una!"
Elvis wanted to come over. But Nicole directly picked up the wine bottle beside her, smashed it and put
a piece of glass against Una's neck.
"Nobody move! And stop acting in front of me. I won't buy it. And I won't do anything irrational out of
sympathy. Elvis, why don't we make a bet? If I collapse from blood loss before Samuel arrives, you
may win. If Samuel arrives in time, then sorry, I win."
Hearing that, Una cried.
"No, Ms. Nicole, I beg you. Please spare his life."
"Spare him? Did he spare me? Did he spare my husband? Did he spare my mom? What about Petty
and Lillian? And those scientists? How could you say that when so many people have been ruined by
him? Don't you want to face the truth, Una?"
Nicole's words left Una speechless.
"Is it only when I die can you dispel your resentment? Then I will die! As long as you let Elvis go!"
As Una spoke, she threw herself at that piece of glass.
"Una! No!"
Elvis' heart missed a beat.
Startled by Una's move, Nicole hurriedly drew back. After all, she didn't mean to take Una's life.
Right at that moment, Una jumped up and grabbed Nicole's arm. She shouted at Elvis, "Elvis, run!
Run!"
Elvis was stunned.
He knew how delicate Una was. Yet she could leave everything behind just to let him go. How could he
leave her alone?
"Just go!"
The moment Una saw the affection in Elvis' eyes, she couldn't help but cry.
This man loved her!
He loved her from the bottom of his heart!
However, they were not meant to be together in their lifetime.
"Elvis, my life is hard, sad but also lucky. Knowing you is the luckiest thing in my life. It's the greatest
gift to be with you all these years. Don't worry about me. Just go. It's no big deal if I die, but you're still
young. You have a bright future ahead of you. You can't ruin the rest of your life for someone like me.
Please go! Go!"
Una cried out.
Nicole broke free and in turn caught hold of Una.
She sighed and whispered, "Do you really think I'm that weak? It's not as easy as you think for Elvis to
get away! Without you, his life would be empty. Even if he lived for another hundred years, he would
still be as good as dead. For you, he betrayed his family and murdered his own brother. For you, he
killed so many people and even abandoned his own children. Do you think he will leave you alone to
get away this time? Una, you are the source of all these things. But as a woman, you are lucky,
because you have a man who is willing to betray the whole world for you. You are indeed lucky in this
way. "
The moment Nicole finished speaking, the roar of a helicopter came from above.
Elvis threw off all his weapons.
He looked at Una and suddenly calmed down.
"Una, you are the only one I love. Maybe I'm a little extreme and stubborn, but this is the real me. I can
confess what I've done, but the greatest regret in my life is that I couldn't cure you. Sorry, I can't give
you a happy life."
Una burst into tears.
"No, you've already done your best. I'm lucky to be with you. Don't worry, Elvis. No matter what
happens, I'll always stand by your side. If you are sent to jail, I'll wait for you. If you're sentenced to
death, I'll suicide. I won't leave you alone. We'll be together for the rest of our lives."
When Elvis heard Una's words, he smiled so contentedly.
Nicole had seen the helicopter. She teetered from blood lost, but she managed to hold on.
She had to wait for Samuel to take control before she could collapse.
Nicole whispered, "Elvis, don't you know that Una's condition is not a matter of genetic defect but
because of poisoning?"
"I only found out about this recently. That's why I brought you here."
At this point, Elvis had nothing to conceal.
He looked at Nicole and whispered, "You have Laurence's blood on you. It's antidotal. That's why I
brought you here."
"Why don't you just use Laurence's blood? Isn't that faster?"
Nicole was puzzled.
Elvis looked at Una and whispered, "Laurence's blood is too intense. Una's body is too weak to
withstand it. The doctor said that she could only use the blood that's been mixed with Laurence's. And
you are the perfect one."
Only then did Nicole understand.
"So that's the reason you tricked me into coming here."
"It wasn't completely a lie. Your father's body is indeed preserved here. Many years ago when your
father was on a mission at the border, he was exposed to a type of radiation that put his life in danger.
But this particular radiation can help with the research on gene data, so I kept his body. After all, close
exposure to radiation will do harm to my health. But if I keep his body frozen, I can do the dissection
when necessary. It's valuable for the research and less harmful to the researchers."
Hearing Elvis' words, Nicole's entire body trembled.
She never thought that this was the main reason why Elvis kept Xander's body.
Though her father died, his body was kept for experiment for all these years. Nicole almost fell apart.
"I just want to kill you, Elvis. You are totally crazy!"
Nicole's hands and even her entire body were trembling. If it wasn't for Una's presence, she might have
already attacked Elvis.
At this moment, the helicopter landed on the island.
When Nicole saw that familiar figure hurriedly running towards her, her eyes immediately brimming with
tears.
