"I didn't intend to eavesdrop. I just wanted to ask when you'd be able to get out?"

Yasmeen felt quite embarrassed, especially since she had paused for a moment because she had

heard Julian's name. She didn't expect that pause to be noticed by Lucas.

In fact, even if he had found out, it was fine. It was the name Julian that made her suddenly realize

something.

Maybe Lucas knew that Julian had come to see her.

And he was looking into his identity. Did he suspect her too?

The thought of that made Yasmeen's face turn white.

Lucas withdrew his eyes and said indifferently, "It's nothing. Are you bored down there by yourself?"

"Yeah."

Yasmeen nodded. She had indeed come up here because she was bored, but she hadn't expected to

hear any of this stuff.

"Just stay with me. I'll check something out. You can play by yourself."

Lucas didn't really care and continued to lower his head and start tapping away at the keyboard. But

Yasmeen hesitated.

"I... I'd better go down, so as not to disturb your work."

Besides, she knew how confidential Lucas's work was.

If you love someone, don't be a burden to him, and don't indulge yourself in spoiling his bottom line and

principles.

After saying this, Yasmeen quickly turned around and left without waiting for Lucas' reaction.

Lucas appreciated Yasmeen's attitude and practice but knew that Yasmeen must be feeling bad.

He suddenly stood up.

"Wait."

"What?"

Yasmeen tensed up at once.

He wasn't going to question her about Julian, was he?

Yasmeen's palms were suddenly sweating.

She watched as Lucas slowly walked towards her, and it was as if he carried an intimidating pressure

that made her subconsciously want to take a step back. But Lucas took her hand and whispered, "I'll go

down and make you something to eat. When you are bored alone, you can have some."

"Huh?"

Yasmeen suddenly froze.

What the hell?

Something to eat?

Hadn't they just finished eating for an hour or so?

What were they going to eat again?

Lucas, however, ignored Yasmeen's astonishment and took her by the hand, and went downstairs.

Yasmeen was completely pulled down with butterflies in her stomach and couldn't tell what she was

feeling.

There were times when she wanted to tell Lucas that she didn't really know him well, but then she bit

back the words.

Lucas didn't ask, and if she confessed of her own accord, a lot of things would have to be revealed.

Since she had chosen not to say anything, she couldn't say anything now, either.

Yasmeen bit her lower lip and frowned.

"Have a seat on the sofa."

Lucas sat Yasmeen down on the sofa while he went to the kitchen.

Yasmeen didn't know what he was going to cook, but she was a little worried.

Julian was actually being targeted by Lucas.

Usually, people who were targeted by Lucas couldn't get away with it.

But if he found out about Julian, wouldn't her deal with his master be exposed?

Should she give Julian a heads up?

Yasmeen's mind went completely blank.

Lucas entered the kitchen for a moment and then brought out several puddings and jellies, all

homemade.

Yasmeen's eyes were dazzled by these and she couldn't help but ask, "You made these?"

"Am I excellent?"

Lucas smiled softly, stroked her head, and said, "Just play with yourself for a while. I'll take care of

some things first."

"Okay."

Yasmeen lowered her head in a hurry.

Sometimes, she was actually quite conflicted.

On the one hand, she wanted Lucas to ask her, and on the other, she was afraid that he would ask her.

She didn't know how long she could maintain such a state of mind, it was just getting harder and

harder.

"Lucas."

Yasmeen suddenly called out to Lucas.

Lucas paused slightly and turned his head to look at her, "What is it?"

"Is there nothing you want to ask me?"

"Is there anything you want to say to me?"

Lucas's words made Yasmeen choke up.

Was she going to say it?

Could she say it?

She wouldn't have put it off until now if she could have said it.

She shook her head and dared not look Lucas in the eye for an instant.

She even wondered, a little sadly, if Lucas regretted having a girlfriend like her.

Seeing that Yasmeen didn't say anything, Lucas didn't force her and said in a low voice, "Don't think so

much. Have some pudding, then you'll feel better. I'll go out with you in a while."

"Okay."

Since Lucas had changed the subject, Yasmeen naturally didn't pester him, except that her palms were

already bloody as her nails cut into them.

Lucas went back to his room and quickly hacked into Julian's profile page.

Julian followed his father and left for another city. When they first went there, they were so poor that his

father raised him until he was 17 or 18 years old by moving and unloading goods from the docks. It was

only after Julian went to university that their life improved.

The family's situation improved when Julian worked his way through college. But as to what Julian was

doing outside, no one knew. Yet, his family got richer at a visible rate.

Lucas took a closer look at the places where he had worked half-time during his university years, and it

was nothing more than coffee shops and restaurants. But how could such industries, which were

already stretched to pay for his university fees, possibly leave him with spare cash to make his family

rich?

So there must be something that they had overlooked and hadn't investigated.

But Julian had come into contact with too many people during that time, and it was a bit unrealistic to

try to investigate them one by one.

Lucas's investigation was at a dead end.

Who was the master behind Julian?

Was it someone he had hooked up with during his college years?

Lucas's brows were furrowed tightly together.

He didn't want to think about what he couldn't figure out for the moment either. Cleaning up the traces

of his computer, Lucas switched it off and went downstairs. His anxious eyes instantly calmed down

when he saw Yasmeen eating his hand-made pudding with gusto.

"Is it delicious?"

"Yes. You're so awesome. I can't believe you can even make this."

Yasmeen ate it at first just to make herself feel better, but she couldn't stop after one bite.

Lucas was just amazing!

He could even make desserts!

As Yasmeen ate, Lucas walked over to her, reached out, and gently wiped the corners of her mouth

with his fingers, then said dotingly, "Eat slowly. It's all yours. No one will steal it from you."

It was just a careless gesture, but it still made Yasmeen blush.

"Got it."

She hurriedly lowered her head to eat the pudding, feeling that she was even a little unlike herself.

Lucas, however, chuckled and went to the bathroom, then pulled his dried shirt out of the washing

machine and put it on before getting up and walking out.

"When you're done eating, let's go out for a stroll, and then you can pick out some clothes for me."

"Okay."

Yasmeen was certainly happy to do so.

Just then, the sound of a car engine suddenly came from outside. Hearing the sound, Lucas frowned

slightly while Yasmeen suddenly stood up and went on alert.
