Nicole had never thought that Jacob would have chosen such a method.
“What does it mean by reserved duty? Doesn’t he have a military rank?”
Olivia was also all her ears.
Samuel lowered his voice and answered, “Yes, he has a military rank. However, he was almost
resigned in the past few years. Besides, when Olivia and he got married, he officially reported to the
military headquarter and it was approved. Hence, he couldn’t go there as an official soldier but only on
reserved duty. Soldiers on reserved duty will go to the battlefield directly. With his military rank, he
could stay in the command and give orders if he were still on duty, but now he’s just a soldier.”
Olivia’s tears kept dropping.
“Where is he now?”
Although she had become filthy and didn’t deserve Jacob any longer, Olivia still wanted to see him.
He was going to the battlefield aboard.
Seldom soldiers should be happy to do such a thing. A lot of them couldn’t come back at all. The rest
had all experienced hairbreadth escapes. Their enemies were all ruthless desperadoes. How could
Jacob be willing to go to such a place?
Before Samuel answered, the message tone rang out on Olivia’s phone.
It was the voice message from Jacob.
Immediately, Olivia tabbed to listen. She heard Jacob’s familiar voice.
“Olivia, I know you’ve hurt a lot by the baby’s matter. No matter how many apologies I make won’t
make it up for you. I was possessed and destroyed our happy family. I used to promise you that I would
never let anyone bully you as you are my wife. However, I broke my promise. I didn’t only break it but
also I became an accomplice. I’ve punished Julissa Caldwell and also informed the public about what
she has done. I also found the evidence. As soon as she’s recovered, she’ll be sentenced. She won’t
be able to leave the jail until at least ten years later. As for me, the accomplice, I know you are reluctant
and cannot do anything to me, so I punished myself -- let me be exiled abroad and with bullets every
day. My heart will have nothing to rely on. I’ll wander like duckweed.
“I’m the luckiest man to fall in love with you and marry you. Even though we’ve been together for a few
years, it’s already a lifetime for me. In my life, you’ll be my only wife, Olivia. But I know it’s still a long
time for the rest of your life, and you surely need someone to accompany you. Please give me and find
a man who treats you well and is worth relying your life on. In the future, if I’m lucky enough to come
back, I hope you can eventually forgive me. I truly wish you all the best in the future.”
Listening to Jacob’s words, Olivia couldn’t stop shedding tears at all.
“Hello, Samuel? Mr. Green? Where is he? Where on earth is he?”
Olivia couldn’t care about anything else now. She wanted to find Jacob and she must see him!
Samuel quickly sent over the location.
Nicole grabbed Olivia’s jacket and backpack, pulling her and running out.
They quickly sat in the car, heading to the club where Samuel was. However, they only saw a military
helicopter flying above their heads.
“Samuel, is that...”
Nicole had a bad hunch.
Samuel nodded.
Olivia was taken aback. Then she ran like crazy following it.
“Jacob Brown! Jacob, get down! You can’t leave! Jacob!”
“Olivia!”
Nicole wanted to grab her but failed.
Olivia was running like a lunatic, following the helicopter. Suddenly she tripped over. She took off her
shoes and chased them barefoot.
The roar of the helicopter was so loud that Jacob couldn’t hear Olivia calling at all.
Emory and Blair saw the crazy woman down, but they hesitated a bit.
They wondered if Jacob would still go to the battlefield if he saw the scene.
Blair wanted to tell him, and Emory directly said, “Jacob, Olivia Kent is...”
“Stop it! I’ve made up my mind, and I won’t go back on my word.”
After finishing his words, Jacob picked up the earphone and put it on.
Emory heaved a sigh and said, “Olivia Kent is chasing you down there.”
However, Jacob didn’t hear it. He kept wondering what Olivia was thinking when she heard his voice
messages.
He thought that she must be quite upset.
However, it couldn’t be avoided.
He was heading to the battlefield and didn’t know whether he would survive the next day. He couldn’t
give her any hope.
If they still had fate, after Olivia had let go of this matter, he guessed probably they could be reconciled
if he could come back several years later.
Right then, Jacob could only live on such confidence and courage.
The helicopter raised higher and higher, and soon Olivia couldn’t be seen. Both Emory and Blair felt
quite upset. Covering himself with a blanket, Blair was lost in thought.
Olivia’s disregard had caused the traffic chaos. Nicole and Samuel worked together and stopped her.
Her grief over the years made her finally faint.
“Olivia!”
Nicole immediately called an ambulance for her.
The ambulance roared, taking Olivia to the hospital.
Afraid that Olivia would take things too hard after she woke up, Nicole had been accompanying her all
the time. Shortly after, Olivia woke up. She stared at the ceiling in silence, making Nicole quite worried.
“Olivia, say something. I’m so worried about you.”
“I’m fine.”
Olivia forced a smile, but she looked uglier than weeping. Nicole suddenly felt the soreness in her
nose.
“Where is Mr. Dupont?”
“I’ll call him.”
Nicole pulled out her phone, only to hear Olivia whisper, “Nicole, could you please do me a favor?”
“Of course, Olivia. Please go ahead. I will try my best to help you.”
Olivia looked at her, forcing her to smile, but she failed to curl up her lips no matter how hard she tried.
“I know I’m filthy and don’t deserve Jacob now, but he’s the only family I have. If I give up on him, he
wouldn’t have anything to cherish in his life. I know you are capable. Could you please destroy our
divorce agreement in Mr. Dupont’s hand, please?”
Nicole understood what she wanted immediately.
Olivia didn’t want to divorced Jacob.
Originally, she thought that she was filthy and didn’t deserve Jacob, but now Jacob was gone, heading
to the battlefield overseas. He would experience life and death. Hence, Olivia wanted her to be the last
thought and attachment even if she was a sinner.
“Okay, I promise you. I can guarantee Mr. Dupont won’t have the divorce agreement to go through the
divorce process tomorrow. If he wants to do it, Jacob must sign on it. Jacob can’t sign it now.”
Nicole hugged Olivia tightly and said with concerns, “Olivia, don’t aggrieve yourself.”
“I’m not aggrieved, Nicole. In front of life and death, what he has done isn’t worth mentioning at all. I
know I can’t let go of him at all. That matter has been the knot of my heart. However, if he passed
away, what would be the use for me to still remember those damned matters?”
Olivia’s eyes twinkled. She had never been so sobered as to realize what she wanted the most.
She only wanted Jacob!
She wanted him to live well!
