"Yes, I just came to see you. I haven't heard from your sister lately. How is she?"
Nicole thought for a while and said. She was trapped on the island by Elvis recently so she didn't know
if Olivia was worried. But now it seemed that Olivia was too busy dealing with her own troubles.
She had to take care of a paralyzed younger brother and a father with brain disease.
Booth's eyes were dim.
"Nicole, can you do me a favor?"
"What's that?"
"Can you find me a job that I can do at home? I originally applied for a job as a translator. However,
they fired me because I couldn't deliver the manuscripts in person. Our family's financial status is not
good, and my sister is exhausted. As the man in our family, I have to do something to make it easier for
her. It doesn't matter how much does the job pay, as long as I can share the burdens with my sister."
Hearing Booth's words, Nicole's tears were rolling in her eyes.
Booth used to be a rich kid with great ambition, but now he came down because of the Green family.
Nicole felt sorry about that.
"Don't worry. I will help you."
"Nicole, I know you are a good person and you blame the Green family and yourself for what happened
to us. However, my sister said that this was our destiny, and had nothing to do with you. She might not
be able to help you a lot for the circumstance now. But let her know if there is anything she can do. She
will do her best like the old times."
Nicole was deeply touched, but also felt grieved.
"Your sister and I are the best friends forever. Don't worry. I know your family is too stubborn to accept
my financial support. So I will keep it in mind and find you a job so that you can share some of the
burdens for your family."
"Thank you, Nicole."
Booth finally smiled brightly, just the way she had seen before when he was young.
However, Nicole couldn't even force a smile.
When she came out of the Kent's, she was extremely depressed and sad.
Nicole called Samuel immediately.
"Is Jacob out?"
"Yes, but it doesn't look good."
Samuel's voice was somewhat low.
"I'm at the Kent's. It isn't good here either."
Nicole told him about Booth.
Samuel whispered without hesitation, "I will call the company. We happen to be in need of translators
lately. Just let Booth take the job since he should be excellent with languages due to his background. I
will send someone to pick up the manuscripts every day. After all, as important documents, it is better
not to send them online. I will pay him as usual."
"Thank you, Samuel."
"Don't mention it. We are family. After all, we owe them. It's just they are too stubborn to accept our
money. Have you seen Olivia?"
Hearing Samuel's question, Nicole sighed and said, "She took Harper to the nursing home to settle him
down, I suppose. She doesn't have much savings, and her pocket should be empty now."
"Don't worry about Jacob. I can take care of him. Olivia, take care of yourself. Call me if you need
anything."
"OK."
Nicole hung up the phone, feeling somewhat comforted. At least Booth's job was settled.
After she got in the car and gave Ernesto the address, she called Laurence.
"Find out where Brian is for me. He can't just disappear. Busy dealing with Elvis' business makes me
forget about Brian. Now it's his turn."
Nicole's said coldly.
Laurence said yes.
After the phone, Nicole leaned on the seat. It was a long day for her. She felt a slight pain in her belly
as if her baby had a long day either.
Nicole leaned on the seat and rested without any movements.
Soon, Ernesto arrived the address Booth gave him.
Nicole looked up, seeing a clinic instead of a hospital. Moreover, it looked tattered outside. She couldn't
imagine the sanitary status inside.
She had no problems with clinics but was just worried.
Nicole got off the car and walked into the clinic. She didn't expect that there would be so many people
inside.
From afar, she saw Olivia supporting a middle-aged man in a crowded line.
There were different kinds of people here. Seeing a beautiful lady like Olivia, a man couldn't help
moving towards her and deliberately rubbing against her body.
Olivia frowned slightly and stepped aside with Harper. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the people
behind immediately cut in.
"Hey, this is my spot."
Olivia hurriedly to argue, but was pushed away by them.
"What? Didn't you just step aside? Queue up again!"
A middle-aged woman yelled arrogantly.
Olivia still wanted to argue, but the man next to her leaned over again.
Nicole was totally pissed off.
She quickly stepped forward and kicked the man who harassed Olivia to the ground.
"Taking advantage of a lady in public, how dare you?"
The man was unprepared and was kicked onto the ground by Nicole.
Then Nicole suddenly stared at that woman.
"Why does a woman give another woman a hard time? Besides, Can't you see that she is with a
patient?"
Although the woman was arrogant to Olivia, seeing Nicole was well dressed and followed by Ernesto
who seemed to be a bodyguard, she hurriedly took a step back to make room for Olivia.
Olivia was touched and also embarrassed.
"What are you doing here?"
"Follow me!"
Nicole grabbed Olivia's arm and dragged her towards the door.
"No, my dad needs to see a doctor."
Olivia didn't want to move at all.
"See a doctor here? Don't tell me that they have a special recipe. Look at this place. This isn't the right
place to treat your father. Olivia, you are a strong and independent woman, but could you please
accept our help when you need it badly? We are still friends, aren't we? Have I ever rejected your help
when I was in trouble? Does it make you feel noble? How possibly do you think your stubbornness will
do any good to your father and your younger brother?"
Nicole was instantly enraged.
When Olivia was scolded by her, the surrounding people also looked over. She had no choice but to
take Harper out of the clinic.
It was windy and a little cold outside.
Olivia took off her scarf and wrapped it around Harper.
Harper's brain decease made him feel nothing about all of this. He just looked towards a certain
direction without focusing on anything, muttering the names of Olivia and his wife over and over again.
Olivia took out a napkin and wiped Harper's face. Then, she looked at Nicole, who was still mad, and
pondered for a moment, "I'm not as stubborn and noble as you think. I'm not that persistent either. I
used to treat money as garbage, but now I realize the importance of it. Nicole, I tried to call you and
even twittered you to borrow money. You never answered me. I don't know what was going on with
you, but I did contact you."
She looked at Nicole with tears rolling in her eyes.
Nicole suddenly felt sorry.
"I'm sorry. I was imprisoned on an isolated island by Elvis a while ago. There was no signal there so I
didn't receive any messages from you. Samuel was busy looking for me so he might not be able to take
care of you. I'm sorry, Olivia. I'm so sorry, it's my fault."
Nicole suddenly couldn't be angry any more.
Olivia shook her head and pinned her long hair behind her ears. She smiled faintly and said, "Look, we
all have our own worries. I'm not complaining about you when I tell you this. I just want to tell you that
sometimes, things can be out of our control. My dad's brain cells are partly dead. The doctor says the
surgery is expensive. Moreover, I don't know if my brother's legs will recover. Now that I can't afford the
treatment, I have to let him stay at home. May I borrow some money from you? I don't know when I'll
pay you back, but I'll get a job as soon as possible."
Nicole never knew that Olivia and she would be like strangers to each other.
The Olivia she knew had always been very proud. Even when Olivia was an orphan, she had never
been so humble. But as humble as Olivia was when she asked Nicole to borrow some money, Nicole
felt deeply hurt.
"Olivia, do you know how much I care about you?"
"It's not what I'm wishing for either, but Nicole, I have no choice. I need money. My dad can't wait any
longer, and I don't know what will happen to my brother. There is nothing else in my mind. If I'm still a
friend to you, can you lend me some money?"
"How much do you need?"
Nicole knew that there was no point keeping arguing.
Olivia paused for a moment and whispered, "Eight million."
"Alright, I'll give it to you. Let's go and get the money. I'll arrange a hospital for Harper to take the
surgery. Booth's legs should be well attended. I've already find him a job. In addition, we need to hire a
nurse. You are too tired to take care of two patients."
Olivia did not object Nicole's arrangement.
"I'm all yours."
"Then follow me."
Nicole brought Olivia and Harper in the car and jumped in herself.
After Ernesto started the car, Nicole suddenly thought of something. She looked at Olivia and
whispered, "What happened between you and Jacob?"
"We broke up."
Olivia said in peace. It surprised Nicole that she seemed so calm about it.
"What happened?"
"I'm not good enough for him now, and I don't want to drag him down. It's the best for both of us."
Olivia turned her face around with her hand tightly gripping the door handle.
Nicole couldn't bear to tell her about Jacob's car accident.
