Don't Try to Escape, My Wife! Chapter 1429 Does He Regret Marrying Me

Prev Chapter Next Chapter

Nicole knew Phoenix was infertile. If she hadn't saved Samuel, she wouldn't have been like this now.

The thought that Phoenix would never have her child made Nicole distressed.

"This piece of clothes looks great. Did you make it?"

"Yeah, I made it in my spare time," Phoenix said with a smile.

...

Knowing what was on Nicole's mind, she said, "I've never regretted saving Mr. Green. If I had a second

chance, I would still do the same. It's my own choice and has nothing to do with anyone else. So don't

look at me like that. Having no children may be a regret, but I can still live a wonderful life."

She patted Nicole's hand. Nicole found what she said surprising and admirable.

"Impressive!"

"Thank you."

Phoenix smiled faintly. She glanced at Samuel and said after pondering for a while, "If you want to

compensate, can you lend me your private plane?"

Samuel and Nicole didn't expect that.

"What do you need a private plane for? Don't the Dons have one?"

"Of course, but Davon is using it. He drove it away."

Phoenix didn't want to tell Nicole that Davon's father had an accident. Nicole was already in poor health

and now she was pregnant. Telling her would only make her anxious. She couldn't do anything. Plus,

they had only just returned from Country F. Phoenix didn't want to disturb them with matters in Country

F.

Samuel squinted.

Things were far more complicated than driving away the plane.

Davon was a military officer who could use a fighter jet if he needed it. But he chose his private plane,

indicating it was a private matter. If he didn't bring Phoenix, he clearly didn't want her to be involved in

it. Now that Phoenix came to borrow the plane, Samuel had a hunch that something must have

happened.

"I'm going to see if the plane is well-maintained. I'll leave you alone."

"Alright."

Phoenix nodded.

Samuel went out in his wheelchair.

Nicole didn't think too much.

Her only priority has been her baby since she got pregnant. Plus, Davon and Zayn were in charge of

the F country. If everything went as planned, Leo would soon be brought to justice. Therefore, she

didn't bother to think about those things.

She felt those experiences were so distant from her and just wanted her baby to be safe.

Holding Phoenix's hand tighter, she went on, "How's it going between Davon and you? Since you've

got your marriage license, when are you going to hold the wedding?"

Phoenix's heart ached.

Wedding?

Initially, Davon had been preparing for their wedding. He went abroad to visit a famous designer to

design her wedding dress. If Eason hadn't died, they would have had their wedding in three months.

But Eason, Davon's adoptive father, died.

When there was a funeral, hold a wedding wasn't a good idea.

Phoenix restrained her emotions and said, "Davon is too busy to prepare for a wedding."

"He's really inconsiderate. Even if he has a lot on his plate, he should make some time. For a woman,

the most unforgettable thing is wedding, wearing a beautiful dress and marrying the man she loves."

Phoenix nodded, but her heart was filled with bitterness.

Wedding was out of the question. Things didn't go well between her and Davon. Probably they would

split up.

Phoenix didn't show her sadness. She held Nicole's hand and said, "Mr. Green is very worried about

you. You were in poor health before pregnancy. Now you have a baby, you should take care of your

health."

Nicole was touched.

"Thank you, I know what to do. Since you are here to see me, Davon must have known I'm pregnant."

When Nicole learned Samuel had spread the news of her pregnancy, she felt embarrassed.

If Phoenix knew she was pregnant, then Davon must have known it.

"Since he knows, why didn't he come to see me?"

Nicole was upset.

"He's on an urgent mission and left in the plane. But he asked me to see you. Isn't him visiting you and

me doing the same?" Phoenix said.

"Of course. You're both my family."

Nicole grinned and then asked casually, "When Davon is out on a mission, he usually takes a fighter

jet. Why did he fly his own plane?"

"Well, this mission is highly confidential. He can't reveal his identity."

"Oh, I see."

Nicole nodded.

She didn't know much about the military compound, but since Phoenix said so, she believed it.

"Why do you borrow the private plane?"

Phoenix paused for a moment and said, "I need to go to the neighboring city to help Davon. I can't tell

you what the mission is about. I'm sorry."

Nicole thought perhaps it had something to do with the military compound, and that Davon asked

Phoenix for help.

So she stopped asking.

Phoenix let out a sigh of relief.

Hiding it from Nicole wasn't easy. But she was pregnant with her mind entirely on her baby. Plus, she

believed in Phoenix. That was why Phoenix managed to deceive her.

But Phoenix knew she couldn't hide it from Samuel.

She looked at her watch and said, "Well, I still have things to do. I have to go now. Take good care of

yourself. I'm looking forward to seeing your baby. I'm going to be the baby's godmother."

Nicole teased her, "You are Davon's wife, my baby's aunt. And now you want to be my baby's

godmother. Don't you think you're asking too much? You're just too idle. I need to rush Davon into

holding your wedding. You almost forget you're his wife."

Phoenix smiled but felt distressed deep down inside.

"Alright. You're always right."

"Of course, I am."

Nicole was in a good mood.

Phoenix hoped that Nicole would always be happy and nothing bad would happen to her.

"Nicole."

"Huh?"

"Be safe and happy."

For herself and Phoenix.

Phoenix didn't say anything else. She was overwhelmed by sadness.

Nicole said, "I will. Don't worry. I'm just pregnant. You all behave as though I had some sort of serious

disease. You are being too cautious."

"Alright, you take good care of yourself. I'll be leaving. I'll come see you again when I have the chance."

She didn't know if there was a chance. What would happen when she returned home? Would she

come back alive? She didn't know.

Nicole nodded cheerfully.

"Come to my place whenever you are free. I can't go anywhere for the first three months. Samuel

keeps a close eye on me, even when I go to the bathroom. He's driving me mad. Do come to see me."

Nicole shook Phoenix's arm like a spoiled child.

Phoenix had never expected she would get along well with Nicole. But the more she knew about

Nicole, the more she liked her.

If possible, she really wanted to be her family forever, taking care of her. But she didn't know whether

she would be able to always be there for her.

"There, there. How can an adult act coquettishly like a child? I'm not Samuel. It won't work. I'm leaving."

Phoenix was on the verge of tears.

Originally, she had thought the Dons were all strangers to her. Even if she divorced Davon, she

wouldn't feel sad or reluctant to leave. But now, she realized it was more difficult for her to leave them

than Country F, a place she had lived in for more than 20 years.

She would never forget the people she met here and the things she went through.

Thanks to Nicole, she met new friends and felt at home here.

Phoenix hurriedly stood up and walked outside. The moment she turned around, a tear fell down her

cheeks.

However, Nicole didn't notice it. She thought Phoenix left because she behaved childishly.

Nicole smiled.

Since Phoenix and Davon got married, Phoenix has become much happier. She did not notice it, but

Nicole did.

Every time she mentioned him, her eyes were calm and her face gentle. She loved him, but she didn't

know it.

Nicole felt she had to do something.

She had to talk to Davon about this.

Wedding is so important to a woman. Why didn't he care?

What an inconsiderate man!

Nicole was pondering and didn't see Phoenix go out in tears.

When Phoenix arrived at the airfield, Samuel was already there.

"What happened?"

The only thing Samuel cared about now was Nicole. In addition, their mission was over the moment

they left Country F. Davon took over where they had left. According to the rules, he shouldn't interfere

in Country F's affairs.

He believed in the ability of Davon who had the assistance of Mark and Emory. Samuel had been very

relieved. But now Phoenix asked to borrow the plane, he knew something went wrong.

It must be something that Nicole shouldn't know. So he was waiting for Phoenix at the airfield.

Phoenix, who was trying to keep emotions in check, cried at Samuel's question.

"Mr. Green, Eason is dead. Davon is there."

Tears were streaming from her eyes.

They had known each other for so many years. It was the first time that Samuel had seen her cry. No

matter what happened, she was always strong. But this time she burst into tears.

Samuel realized something.

"Was Leo behind it?"

"Yeah."

Phoenix squatted angrily, hugging her legs and crying.

"What should I do? Mr. Green, I'm so sad. Davon walked away from me without saying a word. Does

he blame me, too? Does he regret marrying me?"

Phoenix cried so hard that she couldn't utter a word. Samuel patted her shoulder gently, feeling bad.

How did this happen?

Neither of them noticed a figure staring at them. Anger was boiling up inside him.
