Joseph was surprised was he knew about the news. He panicked a little, and at the same time, he felt
warm.
It was a piece of bittersweet and sudden news.
Why did she come back now?

Joseph frowned.
He spoke under the pressure of the family members around, “I’m going to marry Mia.”
“Why? Because of the baby?”
“Yes.”
Zoe felt speechless.
“Joseph, I know you’re a responsible man, and I don’t care how and why you slept with her, but you
need to know that the baby isn’t necessarily yours. Have you checked?”
Joseph stared at Zoe and pushed his glasses upwards, “I will when I can.”
“Then don’t get married first. Wait till everything is confirmed.”
“Which is why I’m going for engagement first.”
Joseph and Zoe actually were looking in the same direction.
Joseph knocked up a girl and got her pregnant, and he was a responsible man. So, he wanted the child
to have a proper family, which was why he wanted to marry Mia in the first place.
Nicole felt bad.
“Joseph, you didn’t like Mia?”
“I don’t.”
Joseph answered frankly.
Samuel put down his chopsticks and raised his voice.
“You didn’t like her, but you slept with her? And you even got her pregnant? Joseph, I never know
you’re a man like this. You should never touch a woman if you didn’t like her in the first place. You’re…”
“Hey, stop it. Joseph has grown up. There’s no need to lecture him.”
Nicole stopped Samuel as she recognized Joseph as the eldest grandchild of the family.
Samuel was furious. He said angrily, “A Green shouldn’t be a jerk, and you dare to do such a thing as
the eldest grandchild of the family? Ten miles!”

Joseph didn’t say anything else. He headed directly into the garden.
Nicole felt bad for Joseph, “Have your food first, Joseph.”
But Joseph had already gone out of the house.
Nicole kicked Samuel in anger.
“What are you doing? He rarely came home, and you punished him once he’s back? Didn’t you notice
Joseph became thinner?”
Samuel sighed as he heard Nicole complaining, “A Green can’t be a jerk.”
“A jerk? Wasn’t you one as well? Joseph took up the responsibility. What about you? I don’t remember
you took up the responsibility when I was pregnant with Lucas and Zoe.”
Nicole started settling the old scores.
Lucas told Zoe, “Zoe, bring Yasmeen into the room and get her some clothes to change. I’ll go running
with Joseph.”
“Alright.”
Zoe decided to get away from the drama that was going to happen.
Tanner and Eaton didn’t know what was going on. They asked in curiosity, “Mother, what did father do
to you?”
Samuel wanted to shut their mouth for good so much.
Zoe ran away with Yasmeen, while Lucas ran out of the house and headed into the garden.
Joseph asked Lucas when he saw Lucas following him, “Why did you come out?”
“I’m afraid that you’re going to feel lonely. So, I came out.”
“Tell me the truth.”
Joseph smiled.
Lucas smiled as well. They bumped each other’s fists and started running laps in the garden.
Yasmeen asked Zoe curiously after Zoe brought her into a room, “Mr. and Mrs. Green seemed to love
each other very much. They too had bad blood in the past?”
“Ah, don’t mention it. My father seemed reliable, but he wasn’t like that in the first place.”
Zoe sat on a chair and started telling Yasmeen what happened between Samuel and Nicole.
Yasmeen was a little drowned in their story. She felt envious.

“Yes. If my mother showed any signs of giving up my father, my family would be entirely different from
how you see it now. Which was why I don’t understand why Joseph wanted to marry that girl. He wasn’t
even sure that he’s the father of the baby.”
Zoe was getting angrier.
Suddenly, Zoe’s phone rang.
Zoe took a look and noticed that it was Kylie calling. She sighed and said, “See, it’s Kylie. I always
thought she was going to be my sister-in-law. Who knew…”
“Kylie came back?”
Nobody knew that Zoe and Yasmeen were friends with Kylie.
Zoe nodded and picked up the phone.
“Zoe, I’m back. Let’s meet up this afternoon.”
“Sure. Give me an address. I’ll go with my second sister-in-law.”
Yasmeen blushed as she heard Zoe address her as her sister-in-law.
Kylie too was stunned.
“Sister-in-law? Lucas has got married?”
“Not yet, but soon.”
Zoe smiled hugged Yasmeen on her neck, “Guess who’s my second sister-in-law.”
“Yasmeen?”
It wasn’t a secret that Yasmeen liked Lucas since young. Kylie took a wild guess since Zoe sounded
cheerful over the phone.
“Bingo!”
An affirmation from Zoe made Kylie happy about it as well.
“Congrats to Yasmeen!”
“Don’t listen to her. We haven’t even gone for registration.”
Yasmeen sounded sweet.
After that, the girls decided on a meet-up point, and they walked out of the room.
Samuel and Nicole had already gone back into their room. However, there were two more people
running laps in the garden. It was Tanner and Eaton.
Zoe shook her head and sighed, “They’re silly. Didn’t they know that curiosity kills cats? They weren’t
even as clever as a cat.”
Yasmeen chuckled.
Zoe and Yasmeen walked into the garden. Zoe smiled and waved at Lucas, “Lucas, I’m going out with
Yasmeen to meet up with a friend. Keep running.”
Lucas was stunned. Then he stopped.
“Let me send you.”
“Sure.”
Zoe didn’t reject Lucas’ offer.
Lucas went into his room and took a shower. He then changed into a set of casual clothing. Lucas
suddenly stopped in front of his wardrobe.
The outfit Lucas wore the most was his army outfit. Even his wardrobe is filled with them. Now that he
had applied to be released from the army, all these outfits had to be returned.
Lucas suddenly felt heavy-hearted and sad.
Lucas reached out his hand and stroked his clean army outfit. He started to feel teary.
Yasmeen went to Lucas’ room to talk to him, but when she saw Lucas stroking his army outfit with a
heavy-hearted look on his face, Yasmeen felt sorry for Lucas.
