Lucas was pleased to see how regretful Yasmeen was, but he didn’t show it on his face. He looked
very stern, and Yasmeen quickly begged him for forgiveness.
“Please don’t bother my teacher. I was the one who made him teach me this!”
“Well, we’ll see what you can do first. Treat my wound when we get back, okay?”
Lucas said nonchalantly as if he wasn’t the one who got hurt.
Yasmeen stepped on the car pedal. Lucas was impressed by how fast she could drive.
As they were heading home, the police cars were arriving at the scene of the accident. Yasmeen felt a
bit anxious and hesitant.
“Hey, how about we get you to the hospital? I might not be able to treat the wound on your back
properly.”
“You’re the daughter of the Greatest Global Scalpel, Dr. Ashley, and you can’t even treat a small wound
like this?”
Lucas glanced at her apathetically. His words made Yasmeen break out in cold sweat.
“I only learned a bit from my mother. I can treat emergency wounds temporarily, but your back is burnt.
If we don’t treat it well, it will get infected, and you’ll get a fever. Lucas, I don’t trust myself.”
This was one thing good about Yasmeen. She would admit it when she knew that she wasn’t up for it.
This part of her was well-liked by Lucas in the past years.
But he didn’t want to go to the hospital to avoid trouble. Though, listening to Yasmeen and looking at
her face that was about to break into tears, he sighed and said, “Okay, let’s go to the hospital.”
“I’ll give Michele a call.”
Lucas was taken aback by what Yasmeen said.
“Why are you calling her?”
“You don’t have any friends and family around here. The Hill family kind of treats you like family, so…”
Lucas understood what Yasmeen was trying to say.
She was so lovable.
He reached out his hand and patted her head lightly. He knew that she was panicking because he got
hurt in her stead and she was mad at herself, but she was still thinking about what to do for him. He felt
loved.
“Did you forget that my parents are at the Capital City? Call my mom instead.”
Yasmeen was flabbergasted.
She had to call Nicole?
Suddenly, she felt embarrassed. The first time she called Nicole as her future daughter-in-law was to
tell her how she got her son into trouble?
“I…”
“On second thought, don’t worry about it. I’ll do it.”
Lucas took the phone from Yasmeen and called his mother.
“Mom, I got bored and went out for car racing. An accident occurred there, and I got hurt while rescuing
the casualties. Can you come to the hospital?”
Yasmeen’s eyes were wide open upon hearing what Lucas said.
He made himself her scapegoat.
She was the one that wanted to go car racing and the one who wanted to go on a rescue mission.
But…
She felt a tingle on her nose, and she was about to cry.
Yasmeen lifted her head and looked at the ceiling abruptly. Her heart was pumping, and she felt warm
inside.
She wanted him for twenty years, and she always thought that he was as stubborn as a mule and an
inconsiderate person. He didn’t appreciate her at all. But ever since they were officially together, it felt
like he was still the same, yet a changed person towards her.
He actually made himself her scapegoat!
She was really surprised.
Lucas didn’t know what was going on in Yasmeen’s head, but he felt a bit remorseful seeing the
extremely grateful look on Yasmeen's face after he hung up the call.
Was he too mean to her all these years?
“Don’t cry, I don’t know how to coax you.”
Yasmeen laughed upon hearing him.
“Why aren’t you so nice to me back then? If you’re nicer, then I wouldn’t have to spend twenty years
going after you.”
Lucas said after listening to Yasmeen’s fussing, “I’m glad I didn’t treat you nicer. Otherwise, you’ll
bother the heck out of me.”
“Lucas!”
Yasmeen was disheartened again.
She thought that he was nice to her, but now he was messing with her again.
Lucas let out a sigh of relief seeing Yasmeen grimacing, putting her hands on her waist while looking
fiercely at him.
He liked seeing energetic, rather than being dispirited and dejected. After all, Yasmeen didn’t suggest
going there in the first place.
“Let’s go to the hospital now. Otherwise, I might really get infected.”
Yasmeen snapped back to reality upon hearing Lucas.
“Yes, right. Hospital. But can we just head there like that? Will it be bad for you?”
Yasmeen only realized now that Lucas was put under house arrest here, so that he wouldn’t attract
unwanted attention. But she attracted a lot of attention already.
“Let’s go, I’ll take care of it if anything happens.”
Lucas didn’t really mind it.
Yasmeen drove the car at a high speed and brought Lucas to the Military Hospital.
Lucas never went through the discharging procedure and was sent back to his original room. Many
people were surprised, including Penny who was recovering from surgery.
Her mother brought Penny out of her ward and she saw Lucas being pushed into the emergency room.
She walked over.
She felt uncomfortable when she saw Yasmeen.
Because Yasmeen had a better aura and figure than her. Yasmeen was also prettier.
With someone like Yasmeen around Lucas, could she really make Lucas fall in love and marry her?
Penny wasn’t confident.
Her mother looked at her daughter and knew what was she thinking about.
She would handle the things that her daughter couldn’t do.
“You brought him out for a bit, and you got him into an accident. Do you have any common sense?”
Yasmeen didn’t realize that her mother was talking to her. She was dumbfounded when she realized
her mother glaring at her reproachfully.
“Are you talking to me?”
“Who else? Do you see anyone else besides you here? Lucas was hurt, to begin with. Not only that
you didn’t care about his condition, but you also brought him out of the hospital. Where is your common
sense?”
Her mother expressed her extreme dislike towards Yasmeen.
If it wasn’t for Yasmeen, Lucas would probably marry her daughter out of guilt.
Penny yanked her mother’s sleeve and said in a low voice, “Mom, don’t talk like that. Miss Shaw is
Lucas’ girlfriend.”
“Girlfriend? Maybe not. How can a girlfriend be so inconsiderate and don’t care about Lucas’
condition?” her mother was going off relentlessly.
Initially, Yasmeen didn’t want to argue with them, since it was true that Penny got hurt because of
Lucas. She didn’t want people to have a negative impression of Lucas. But this didn’t mean that these
two could mock and humiliate her!
Who did they think they were?
Yasmeen scoffed and said, “Since you know that I’m Lucas’ girlfriend, then what are you doing here?
Did I invite you guys over? If you don’t like seeing me then go away. Nobody is forcing you to stay here
with me.”
“You, how can you talk like that to me? Did your parents ever teach you any manners?”
No one had talk-back like this to her mother for many years, she wasn’t going to just sit down and take
it. She raised her voice and walked up aggressively towards Yasmeen.
Yasmeen’s eyes turned frigid.
“What? Do you want to fight? Come on! I’ll pay your medical bills if I hurt you too badly!”
