Lucas clearly sensed something was wrong. He wanted to say something but stopped when he saw
the look on Nicole’s face.
The bodyguards outside didn’t make any sounds. This servant could slip in without being noticed, from
which Nicole could tell that it was nearly impossible for them to escape. Even though Lucas and her
could fight, she didn’t want to take the risk. Also, she didn’t know what would happen with Samuel.
Right now, they had to sit still.
When Nicole asked her those questions, the servant subconsciously paused and bowed her head.
“I’m new here.”
Her voice was unnaturally hoarse. They didn’t know if she intended to do that or it was her natural
voice.
Nicole held Lucas’s hand and said calmly, “Let’s get this straight. How are my people out there?”
The servant froze for a second and then looked at her in the eyes. She was impressed by Nicole.
Nicole finally got to see her face clearly. She looked completely normal and would get no attention
when walking on the streets. But her eyes seemed kind of dull.
“What? Are my questions too hard?”
Nicole lowered her voice.
“No. They fell asleep.”
The servant was surprisingly cooperative. She gave her the answer quickly and didn’t make any other
moves. Maybe from her perspective, Nicole and Lucas were just a harmless woman and an innocent
boy. But if they had really investigated Nicole, they would know that she could fight. The calmness in
the servant’s eyes meant that this place was completely controlled by their people.
Nicole was thinking to herself quickly and then asked, “What do you want from me? Don’t hurt my son
and I’ll cooperate.”
Her words amazed the servant.
To show her sincerity, Nicole switched her phone in front of her. Lucas did the same thing but her
fingers slightly twisted.
Seeing that, the servant seemed to be a little relieved.
“Please come with me. Our master wants to meet you.”
Even though they didn’t know who the master was, Nicole had a feeling that they were getting closer to
the truth.
Lucas was behaving well and followed Nicole.
Walking outside the house, Nicole was glad she didn’t get physical with the servant. The bodyguards
here were all sleeping on the ground, including the servants of the kitchen and the yard.
Nicole frowned and asked, “Are they gonna be alright?”
“Of course. The master only wants to meet you, Mrs. Green. We won’t do anything that upset you if you
cooperate.”
Nicole didn’t say anything and held Lucas in her arms.
Lucas was struggling to get back on the ground but Nicole stopped her.
When they went outside the mansion, they saw a car with a fake license in front of the gate. The car
looked normal and the license was fake so even if there were security cameras, they couldn’t find out
who the owner was. It seemed that they had prepared pretty well.
Nicole couldn’t help worrying about Samuel. She wondered if this whole thing was a trap and Tim was
only a bait. But there was no time for them to leave a message.
At this moment, a deliveryman who was riding a scooter stopped in front of them.
“Is Miss Nicole here?”
Nicole froze and the servant seemed nervous.
In order to protect the civilian, Nicole said calmly, “Yes. I’m Nicole. What’s the matter?”
“There’s a box of fruits for you. Please sign your name here.”
The deliveryman was puzzled about this situation. He felt that servant behind Nicole was quite harsh.
But this was the villa area. It was normal for rich people to have bodyguards follow them around. So, he
didn’t think too much about it.
Nicole took the pen and signed her name in front of the servant and said, “Please put it at the door. I’m
in a hurry. Someone will take this in later.”
“Fine.”
He didn’t say much about it. As long as she signed, his job was done.
He put the box at the door and left.
Nicole and Lucas all knew that it was the box of fruits Lucas bought her. They were surprised that it
would be delivered at this point.
The servant frowned and wanted to take the fruits away but Nicole interrupted her by saying, “It’s just
some fruits that I ordered. It’s harmless, right?”
Her words made the servant feel a little annoyed. She didn’t say more and rushed Nicole and Lucas to
get in the car.
After they got in the car, someone folded their eyes with black cloth. Nicole knew they did not want to
let them know the route. She wanted to hear the sounds outside along the way but then driver turned
on the music which kept Nicole and Lucas from concentrating.
After about an hour, the car stopped. Nicole and Lucas were taken out of the car and helped into the
house.
They had walked for more than ten minutes and then entered the back room which was warmly heated.
“Master, Mrs. Green is here.”
As the servant spoke, Nicole’s and Lucas’s eyes were uncovered. Before they got used to the bright
lights, someone searched Lucas’s body and found a small tracker on him.
“Good for you, Mr. Green.”
An old voice came from behind, accompanied by the sound of the wheelchair rubbing against the
ground. It was an old man in his seventies who was pushed out by his servant.
Lucas frowned while Nicole took the chance to observe the house.
The house was antique and had the style of ancient empires. Every ornament was antique, including
the glass in front of her. All of these showed how wealthy the owner was.
Hearing his voice, Nicole looked up and saw an old man standing in front of them. He looked kind of
familiar to her.
Nicole squinted her eyes.
“You are Martin?”
She was astonished that the person she and Samuel tried so hard to meet suddenly appeared in front
of her.
Lucas was obviously shocked too.
He did some research about Martin so he knew who he was. At first, he was wondering who kidnapped
them and trying to use his strength to inform Samuel. But that plan didn’t go pretty well as they
searched out his tracker.
Martin smiled harmlessly at Nicole. If they hadn’t known what he had done, they would really think this
was just a lovely old man.
Lucas still had some doubts and asked, “If you knew I had tracker on me, why didn’t you search me
before I got in the car? Aren’t you worried that I have already sent out our track?”
