Before Winnie could react to it, Brian pre-empted her.
"Grandpa..."
Felix interrupted him.
"I won't harm her."
Felix put on an authoritative expression. Then, Brian dared not say anything anymore for fear that his
effort would be counterproductive.
Looking at Winnie who was puzzled, he gestured to her that she didn't need to be afraid.
Compared with Brian, Winnie was calmer. When they were on the way from home to here in the
morning, she had been psychologically prepared. Felix wouldn't ask her to come here for no reason. It
could be said that Felix had been kind enough to her by not talking to her about what he wanted for a
day.
"I'll be back soon. Take care of the kids."
After saying that, Winnie followed Felix to his study.
After Felix sat on the sofa, he asked Winnie to sit down, too.
"It's late, so I'll come straight to the point."
Felix spoke seriously.
"Please, the Chairman."
What he said was after her own fancy. Winnie also wanted to come straight to the point.
"Are you and Brian together again?"
Felix asked her the question that he had asked Brian.
"Yes, I'm very sorry that I break my promise. But don't worry. I'll leave when I should."
Winnie answered candidly.
"Well, I believe you. But I have some requirements. You can't interfere with his work or his private life.
Keep a low profile and don't publicize it."
Who Felix trusted more was himself. If Winnie failed to do that, he would manage to make her leave.
Felix went on.
"For Luke's sake, I can forgive your breaking your promise this time. But you have to do me a favor."
"Please tell me. I'll do it as long as I can."
Feeling grateful, Winnie answered. She knew that it was wrong for her to break her promise.
And Felix had made a concession. However, Winnie really felt surprised after hearing his request.
"Well, Brian's father hasn't come back for many years and Brian never comes to see him. To tell you
the truth, there is a barrier between them because there is a knot that can't be untied in Brian's mind. It
appears that Brian would listen to you, so I want you to make them make up."
Felix spoke in a much softer voice this time and was not as rigorous as he had just been.
He had intended to ask Winnie to do this when he went to the hospital to visit Winnie last time. He just
delayed it because he heard what Penny had done.
He could tell that Winnie had the ability to affect and change Brian. Or it could be said that Brian was
willing to listen to Winnie.
He didn't want Winnie to interfere with Brian's work, but he wanted to use Winnie to affect Brian over
private affairs.
Winnie was surprised. She didn't expect that Felix would talk about family things with her.
"He never mentioned anything about his family to me, and I don't know what conflict there is between
them. The Chairman, I'm not sure if I can be of any help."
Winnie said diplomatically. As a matter of fact, she felt that she couldn't be of any help at all.
She might not know Brian well, but she knew that Brian resisted and was wary of her in every aspect.
Even if they were together now, they didn't get to know each other better.
For her, Brian was a puzzle. And she had never thought of solving it. If she tried to get to know more
about him, Brian would dislike and ignore her.
"Believe me. You can succeed. As long as you do it, I'll allow you to live with Luke for a long time. Don't
ask for any specific reason. You just need to persuade him to be reconciled with his father."
Felix was a shrew judge of character and situation. Few people could change Brian's mind since he
was a child and Winnie could be said to be the first one who could change his mind. Therefore, Felix
was sure that Winnie had the ability to do that.
Winnie was embarrassed, but Felix didn't allow her to refuse this task. He said in such a peremptory
voice. What could Winnie do to refuse it?
"I'll have a try."
Winnie had no choice but to reluctantly agree. She considered it to be a task more difficult than
developing software.
On the way home, Brian drove the car while Winnie sat in the passenger seat. The two kids were
playing and chatting on the back seat of the car.
Winnie was somewhat silent because of what Felix asked her to do.
Now, she regretted having agreed to do that because she didn't know anything about it and therefore
didn't know what to do.
"What did grandpa talk with you?"
Brian asked in a sullen voice with serious eyes.
Winnie had not been in a good mood since she came out of Felix's study. It could be seen that she was
pretending to be happy when she communicated with the children.
Brian had been worrying about that Felix had embarrassed her, but he didn't ask it because of the
presence of the children.
Looking at Winnie's depressed expression, Brian became more worried and couldn't help asking this
question.
Winnie finally turned and looked at Brian, being in two minds.
"Nothing. Just something about us."
Winnie didn't mention the task Felix gave her. She decided that she should get to know about that little
by little instead of asking directly.
Looking at his handsome profile, Winnie went on to say.
"He knew that I and you are together, and said that I had broken my promise."
"Did he threaten you?"
Hearing this, Brian became anxious. He was certain that Felix would talk about these issue, so he just
wanted to know whether Felix had embarrassed Winnie or not.
"No. He forgave me for Luke's sake. He just prohibited me from interfering with your work and your
family. He also demanded that I keep a low profile and do not show off."
"I assure him that he didn't need to worry and that I would do as he required."
Winnie repeated what Felix had said.
What Felix asked her to do was exactly the same as what Brian had asked her to do. Besides, Felix's
requirements was the same as her own principles. Even if Felix didn't say anything, she knew what she
could do and what she couldn't do.
"That's all?"
Brian asked in doubt.
"Yes, that's all."
That was not all, but she couldn't tell him everything directly.
"Didn't grandpa threaten you?"
Brian still didn't believe that Felix would let her off so easily.
"No. Why, you hope that he had threatened me?"
Winnie said jokingly, but she clearly knew that she would have been threatened if Felix didn't need her
help. But why was Felix so sure that she could accomplish this task?
"I'm just worried that he would threaten you."
Brian answered in louder voice. After hearing that she wasn't threatened, he finally felt relieved.
"You care about me, right?"
"I care about you? Why should I care about you? You're flattering yourself."
Brian somewhat overreacted to it, after which he himself felt it strange for him to react like that.
Did he care about her? He wasn't sure. He only knew that he had been feeling uneasy from the
moment she followed Felix into the study.
"Well, you can say so."
"By the way, Daenerys will go to work in the hospital tomorrow. She asked me to express her gratitude
to you."
Winnie moved to another topic. If they talked too much about a topic, they would definitely quarrel.
Finally, the kids who were sitting on the back seat would be affected emotionally.
"Don't mention it."
Brian didn't care about Daenerys at this moment. He was still wondering why Felix would accept the
relationship between him and Winnie so easily. He believed that Felix wouldn't make a concession so
easily even if for Luke's sake.
Back in home, Winnie was with the kids doing their homework while Brian worked in the studio. Winnie
didn't went to his studio with a glass of water until the child fell asleep.
"When will you finish your work?"
Winnie asked as she put the water on Brian's desk.
"I've already finished my work. I'm just putting away the documents. What's the matter?"
Brian looked up at her and asked.
"Nothing. I'm tired. If you need to continue to work, I'll go to bed first."
At this moment, Winnie was in a dilemma. In fact, she originally want to come here to ask him
something about his family tentatively, but she refrained herself from asking in the end.
She was afraid that Brian would tell her to mind her own business.
Hearing what she said, the expression in Brian's eyes became much softer.
He stood up, came close to Winnie and held Winnie into his arms tightly with his arms around her
waist.
"What about employing a housemaid? It'll be too tiring for you to work, take care of the kids and clean
the house all by yourself."
Brian didn't speak in a warm and cheerful voice, but Winnie's heart melted at this moment. Brian had
been so indifferent. Why would he care about her?
Winnie looked at Brian in a daze, feeling as if she were dreaming.
A moment later.
"I don't want to hire a housemaid. I'm not used to having a stranger at home. Besides, I'm willing to do
all these. In this way, both you and kids will feel more at ease."
Winnie refused his proposal. She was indeed very tired from having to get up early every morning to
clean such a large house in fear that she would be late for work. However, to make the kids feel at
ease at home, she still decided to do it herself.
After saying that, Winnie unconsciously put her head on Brian's shoulder. Finding that Brian was being
considerate, she was contented.
"Hire an hourly worker and let her do the housework."
Brian insisted because he didn't want Winnie to be tired every day.
"I..."
"That's settled then. I'll ask Albert employ one tomorrow."
Winnie still wanted to oppose it, but Brian interrupted her in a peremptory manner.
"Don't treat me so well. What if I fall in love with you?"
It was the first time that Winnie liked his being peremptory. She wanted him to treat her in this way.
Winnie said these words unconsciously, but Brian became intense after hearing them. Would she fall in
love with me? What should he do if she fell in love with me?
"I don't care. That's your own business. I won't fall in love with you."
Brian didn't speak in a cold voice, but still shattered her illusion.
Right. Brian didn't love her. It's just that she had a secret crush on him. What else could she expect?
"That's great. It'll make it a lot easier for me to leave when I should."
With her head put on Brian's shoulder, she dared not raise her head because she was afraid that Brian
would see her bitter eyes.
"Aren't you tired? Go to sleep."
Brian said in a colder voice as if he were unhappy to hear the last few words she said.
"Oh, I'll go to sleep soon."
Hearing his cold voice, Winnie was disillusioned and had to leave the arms of Brian who could never be
her lover.
When she was about to leave, Brian carried her in his arms unexpectedly.
"Since you're tired, I'll carry you back to bedroom."
Brian said in a deep voice, ignored her willingness and left the studio directly with Winnie in his
arms.
