Winnie now understood why Rufus wanted to apologize.
Now the problem lied in her and B rain. His apology and communication would not solve them problem.
Besides, it was over, and an apology could not change the fact.
"How can I not be worry? You suffer so much injustice, your aunt must be distressed about you. As a
father, I owe your aunt an apology."
Rufus was guilty and no one could understand that.
There were many things stuck together. He had no chance to figure things out and now there was one
more thing. Rufus was guilty to everybody.
"Rufus, I'm all right. I have grievance, but I saw through lot of things. Don't take it to your heart, and
don't worry about us."
"Rufus, I'm going to play with the children. You talk to Vanessa."
Winnie could guess the next topic would be about her and Brian, so she did not want to talk about it, so
she found an excuse to leave.
At the same time, Luke, playing with his sister, made a call to Brian.
"Dad, where are you? Mom came to see us, and why don’t you come back?"
"I am away on business. When did Mom go to see you?"
Hearing that, Brian began to worry.
"She has been there for half an hour. Come back here, Dad. I'll hold mom off as long as I can."
Luke felt it a good opportunity and he was afraid that his dad missed the opportunity, so he made a call
to his dad.
"Ok, I will be back as soon as possible."
Brian was also worried, but it was an emergency and he had to deal with it himself. He could not go
back now.
"Mom is coming. Dad, hurry up."
Luke hung up the phone, because his mother was walking over.
"Wipe your sweat, both of you."
Winnie came and took tissue to wipe sweat for two children.
"Mom, can you stay here tonight? Last time you said you were busy, you can’t say that again."
Luke wanted to make his mother stay and create opportunity for his dad.
"HMM... Well, I will sleep with you tonight."
Winnie agreed because she knew that Brian couldn't come back today.
"Great, I can sleep with my mother tonight."
Luke was excited. It was hard to have such an exciting moment. He thought he had got his father a
chance, and now it was up to his father to come back.
In the pavilion, Vanessa and Rufus were chatting.
"Vanessa, how is your study?"
Rufus felt glad to chat with Vanessa. Although he could not recognize her as his daughter, he was
happy that Vanessa was optimistic and studied hard.
"I'll be able to start my junior year at the beginning of the semester."
Vanessa said with confidence. There was the last test, if she passed, she could be able to have her
junior year.
"Do you have any thoughts after junior year? Will you get a job or go on to graduate school?"
"If you want a job, go to the Bennet Group. Brian can definitely help."
Rufus wanted to make Vanessa stay in the Bennet Group forever.
Talking about this topic, Vanessa was sad.
She chose to study in B City for two reasons: the university in B City was the best in the country; the
other reason was that she wanted to work in the Bennet Group.
However, after her sister went through such a painful thing, she changed her mind and did not want to
stay in B city or work at the Bennet Group any more.
"Thank you, Rufus. I don't want a job after I finish college. I want to study abroad for a master's
degree."
Vanessa did not tell him her true thoughts, but it was true that she chose to leave. And she wanted her
sister and aunt to leave together.
After all she had gone through, she finally understood why her aunt had opposed her coming back.
This city did not accept them.
"You don't have to go abroad. Our education is one of the best in the world."
Hearing that, Rufus felt sad. He understood that once Vanessa went abroad to study, Winnie and
Isobel would not stay in this city.
If no one objected, Winnie would take two children away. If they left, he would live as a zombie.
Could Brian accept such ending? Could he accept it?
"We'll see. It doesn't matter where I am, but I have to be with my family. My sister and aunt are the only
families I have in the world. The kids are the Bennets, and we can’t control them."
Vanessa told Rufus that she would leave with her sister and aunt, as for the children, it depended on
the attitude of the Bennet family.
"You have family, I am your..."
Rufus almost said the secret, but he stopped timely.
"Yes, you are my family, when I go abroad, I will take you with me."
Vanessa said to ease Rufus’ embarrassment.
In her heart, Rufus had always been good to them. However, since he was Brian’s father, he cannot be
her real family.
Winnie and Vanessa stayed in the suburbs, Brian did not come back till it was late. Luke was worried,
but he was afraid his mother found out.
He locked himself in the bathroom and secretly called his dad again.
"Dad, why haven’t you come back?"
As soon as Brian heard the sound, he knew that Luke was worried. He explained.
"Luke, I'm sorry. I haven’t finished the work, I'm afraid I can't go back tonight. But you may rest assured
that I will be back tomorrow morning."
Brian was more eager than Luke. If he missed such an opportunity, he would regret it.
He was trying to buy as much time as he could, but the situation was out of control.
"Dad, hurry up. I don't know when Mom will be gone."
Luke was inevitably disappointed and he could experience his mother disappointment.
No wonder mom and dad separated. Luke felt that even if there was no misunderstanding, his mother
would not always be with his father, because his father always put work and great grandpa first, and his
mother didn't seem to be that important.
His father could never let anyone down, but he made his mother lost confidence again and again. It
was not surprising that his mother would leave.
Luke sighed until he put down the phone. Now he wasn't sure if his father would be back tomorrow
morning.
Sure enough, Brian disappointed Luke the next day.
After breakfast, Winnie and Vanessa played with the children for a while and then went home, Luke
thought of all kinds of reasons to leave her mother, but did not succeed.
On the way home.
"Vanessa, I have to go on a business trip for a period of time, tomorrow night's plane."
Winnie felt it was time to tell Vanessa, but she only said it was business.
"It's so urgent. How long will it take? Where to?"
Aunt was not at home, and her sister was going on a business trip, Vanessa felt her heart suddenly
empty.
"About a month in C City."
"In the meantime, I will ask Daenerys and Emily to stay with you on weekends and you can let them
know if you need help."
Winnie said. She was most worried about Vanessa and felt sorry for her.
If it were not for her relationship, how could she leave Vanessa alone?
"Sister, don't worry about me. I can take care of myself."
Vanessa said. She could take care of herself, but she did not want her sister to leave, and did not want
to be home alone.
With her aunt and her sister away, she felt abandoned and forgotten. But she was obliged to say so, for
she did not want to hinder her sister any longer, and did not want her sister to pay for her anymore.
"No, I am worry about you. Daenerys and Emily take care of you so I can get to work. Don't go home
on Fridays while I'm gone. They'll be with you on Saturdays."
"When I am away, be safe and go to the suburbs to see my children on weekends. But don't tell them
where I am, and don't tell Brian either."
Winnie added. She did not want Brian to know it, or it would be pointless.
"I know, I won't tell them. Don't worry. I'll tell Daenerys if I need help. Don't worry about me when you
go to work. Leo and Oscar will take care of me."
Vanessa said to make her sister rest assured.
Judging from her sister’s words, she seemed to have deliberately avoided Brian.
Her sister had a bad mood during this period of time, she might go out for a period of time to adjust her
mood.
Now all the things had been arranged and she had told Daenerys to take good care of Vanessa. There
was only one thing left to do, and when it was done, she could leave in peace.
But she did not know if Brian would be back before she got on the plane.
Brian got off the plane and went straight to the suburbs. He had tried his best, but it was too late.
"Dad, it's so late for you to come back. Mom has gone after breakfast."
Luke was disappointed. It was already six o’clock in the afternoon. His father had said he would be
back in the morning.
"Sorry, son, I was busy at work."
Brian explained to Luke. He was upset that he could not make it
"I don't blame you, Dad. It's just a pity you missed such an opportunity. We'll try another time."
Things had been so, Luke had nothing to say. The opportunity might come again, but he was afraid that
his father might miss it again.
