Leo was obedient, not only lower his head but also bend down the whole upper body. So his nose
touched Emily's face.
"You..."
Emily blushed instantly and retreated a small step.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to."
Leo apologized, but not sincerely, and he showed a bad smile on his face.
"Chicanery."
Emily ignored Leo's apology, but help him put on the apron.
Leo continued to cut vegetables. Standing aside, Emily could not help laughing.
A handsome and indomitable man wore a woman's apron.
Funny, but cute.
"What you laughing at what? It looks good on me."
Leo smiled, because Emily smiled.
He did not see Emily smile for a long time, regardless of her smile was mockery or joy, Leo felt wearing
this apron was worth it.
"Nothing, go and cook."
Emily immediately stopped her smile, she did not want to have too much communication with Leo.
"All right, I will cook. Do you like these? If not, I can go out and buy something you like."
Leo stopped smiling too and did not want to destroy the rare opportunity.
Emily looked at these ingredients, which she liked, and knew Leo bought them for her.
Emily was touched, but she could not express it. She finally spoke.
"Let me help you."
So two people worked together in the kitchen.
Charles received a phone call from Christine and hurried back. When he was home, the food had not
been ready, so he had tea sitting in the living room while watching the two cook in the kitchen.
"It is good."
Charles couldn't help but praise what he saw.
"Yes, Leo is good, but your daughter is capricious. If she had forgiven Leo early, we would have a
grandson now."
Christine unconsciously nagged. She liked Leo and she could forgive what he had done before.
"What do you mean? You educated her since she was a kid, even if she is capricious, you made it."
Charles said, unconvinced. Looking at such a warm scene, he felt Emily was too pretentious. Or he'd
have a son-in-law.
"Well, it is my fault then. Now it's up to you to deal with the problem. I will see if you can do it."
Christine did not argue, but threw the problem to Charles.
"What problem?"
Charles looked stunned.
"Ask your daughter to forgive Leo and let them be together as soon as possible. If this opportunity is
missed again, Leo will be others’ son-in-law."
Christine let Charles deal with the problem. She had been worried for Emily. If Leo met another girl who
liked him, Emily would lose him.
"What can I do? Why can't you think of a way?"
Charles could manage a big company, but he could not convince his daughter.
"I have helped. If I didn't pretend to be sick, Emily would have gone abroad. I made a sacrifice for her,
and you can't just sit idle."
Christine had done all she could except send her daughter to Leo's house.
"What do you want me to do? I can't pretend to be sick and force my daughter to get married, or let her
get pregnant. That's not what I should do as a father."
"You deal with it, if Leo becomes others’ son-in-law, I... I will not want this daughter."
"Neither will I."
Christine and Charles quarreled like kids. Now they valued son-in-law more than their daughter.
After a moment of silence, dinner was ready. The family sat down at the table and began to eat.
"Emily, bring me some wine. Good dishes can’t go without wine."
Charles commanded, it seemed he had to have wine.
Emily did not object but went to get wine.
Emily poured two glasses of wine, and then put them down, but Leo poured two glasses too, so
everyone got one glass.
Leo raised his glass.
"Christine, Charles, Emily, cheers, and then you can give me suggestions on this meal."
"Ok, cheers."
Charles said deliberately and he thought he was helping.
Emily glanced at her father, but did not object. She exchanged wine for water and drank with everyone.
The reason why she didn't drink wine was because she was afraid she could control myself speaking of
her relationship with Leo.
Christine picked up chopsticks and took a bite, and then she praised.
"MMM, good, very good. Leo, I've never cooked as good a meal as you. If you marry Emily, I can have
delicious food every day."
Christine mentioned Leo and Emily's relationship, which made Emily grew black on her face.
"Emily, we don't have sons, finding a good son-in-law is the best."
"Come on, Leo, have another drink."
Charles found that Emily’s mood changed, afraid she walked away, so he had to remind Emily.
Emily was speechless to her parents who spoke for Leo. Today they were happy, Leo's food was good,
so she endure it even if she was the topic of them.
After drinking wine, Leo was dizzy and said.
"I'm off my game today. I can't drink anymore."
Leo stopped not because of he drank too much, but continuing to drink would have a negative impact
on the next thing. He stopped drinking so that he could stay awake and do what he planned to.
However, he did feel uncomfortable today.
"Do you get tired from cooking? Then don't drink and have some rest upstairs."
Christine was worried and wanted to ask Leo to stay.
"I am fine, Christine, how can I get tired from cooking? I just. I just have a headache today."
Leo was guilty in the face of Christine's concern, but to marry Emily, he can only temporarily let them
worry.
"You must have got a cold. Go upstairs and have a rest. Emily, find some medicine for Leo."
Charles said. He drank, but Leo did not seem to be uncomfortable. However, he still spoke for Leo.
"No medicine. He had wine, it will make it worse. Emily, take Leo to your room and let him have sleep.”
Christine got more and more worried and her tome seemed to be anxious.
"Why go to my room? There are guest rooms upstairs, let him go to guest room."
Emily saw the intention of her parents. They wanted Leo to stay.
"No need for your help. I'll walk him upstairs."
Afraid of Emily’s objection, Christine got up and came to Leo directly.
"Christine, I'd better go home."
Leo said deliberately, in fact, he did not mean to leave. Even if he left, he would find a way to take
Emily away. As for whether to leave or stay, it depended on how Christine and Charles cooperated.
"How can you get home? You're drunk and not feeling well. If you go home alone, I will be worried
about you. Go upstairs with me."
Christine pulled Leo up, Emily stopped her.
"Mom, you can go upstairs but don't go to my room."
"You can't take care of him if he doesn’t go to your room, or you can drive him home and make sure
he's okay."
Charles said, trying to create a chance for Leo to stay with Emily.
"I'll send him home."
Emily felt Leo could not stay and wanted to send him back, or she could sleep all night.
Leo did not expect that it depended on Emily whether he stayed or not. Emily had offered to send him,
so he could not stay.
"Charles, Christine, I am leaving."
Leo said and followed Emily out.
On the way home.
Leo had been looking for the topic, but Emily was silent. Leo shut up because of the effect of alcohol,
so he took a rest.
Leo fell asleep, and did not realize the car was parked in his own yard.
Emily wanted to leave after she parked the car, but Leo was asleep, she was afraid that it was not safe.
So she woke up Leo.
"You are home, go inside, I gotta go home."
Emily reminded him and was to get off the car, but Leo was still sleeping.
Emily thought Leo had a sound sleep because he drank, so she stretched out to push Leo. But she
found Leo was hot and realized that Leo had a fever.
"Leo... Leo, wake up."
Emily shook Leo hard, anxious.
Leo woke up, bleary.
"We are home."
Leo felt dizzier than before. And he felt the coldness coming from his body.
"It's raining or the air conditioning is too low? How can it be so cold?"
Leo did not realize he was really ill and had a fever.
"You have a fever. I'll take you to the hospital."
Emily restarted the car, but Leo held Emily's hands on the steering wheel to stop Emily.
“It is just a fever. I don’t need to go to the hospital. I will be fine after having fever-reducing
medicine."
