"I'll take that, as long as you bought it."
Brian would like to take everything that Winnie gave him.
Winnie was silent, for it was awkward.
“Have the time for your father’s surgery been decided?”
Winnie changed the subject.
“Yes, the day after tomorrow.”
Brian relied, he was nervous when he thought of the surgery.
“I will ask Vanessa to be there.”
Winnie was nervous, thought Kevin could handle the surgery well, but she was still worried.
Then the was silence, for Brian was worried about his father’s surgery and Winnie was so
embarrassing that she did not know what to say.
With that her friends’ words and Brian’s recent behavior in mind, she swayed her heart. Emily told her
not to be rational in love, but she was not rational, she would be a mistress.
This day, everyone came to the hospital. Rufus was in a good state, but others were nervous,
especially Stella, whose eyes were red.
“Dad, don’t worry, Kevin will have the surgery on you, it is ok.”
Stella comforted her father thought she was nervous.
“You are nervous than me. I will sleep after I get the anaesthetic, and I will be fine when I wake up. So,
don’t worry, I will come out soon.”
Rufus was ready for the surgery and he had learned the details of the surgery from Isobel.
Everyone was with him, which was actually a burden for him, though Isobel was not there.
“I am not nervous, I...”
Before she could finish her wors, she cried out.
“I am sorry, Dad.”
Rufus was stunned, as he was about to comfort her, he could not utter a word.
He did not know what she referred to.
“Dad, you have taken a lot effort to take care of us. If not for us, you will not get sick. I am sorry, Dad, I
am wrong.”
Stella sobbed, and gave Rufus a hug.
“Sorry, Dad.”
She used to hug her father, but she never did it again since her mother died.
This hug was still warm and still safe.
“I am ok, I can make it.”
Rufus was content to hear that, though he did not know why Stella forgave him.
He had thought that his kids would never forgive him.
He was excited and even wanted to cry.
“Dad, cooperate with the doctor to have the surgery. As you as you are healthy, I will support you on
everything.”
Stella burst into tears and she was sure her father could understand her words, but she could not tell
Brian, or he would lost his mind.
“Ok, I will be healthy. Don’t cry, it is not good for your health.”
Rufus was gratified that Stella would support him to find Isobel.
With that, he felt motivated.
“Don’t cry, Stella, or you will affect Dad’s emotion.”
Joshua pulled Stella into his arms, comforting her.
He did not expect that Stella would say that today. She might be afraid that she would have no chance
to say that if her father had the surgery.
It was good, Rufus would be in a good mood to confront the disease.
Brian did not speak but frown, hearing that.
He felt he should say something to comfort his father, but he had no courage.
In the end, he turned out. While Winnie had been paying attention to him, and she knew he was upset.
She followed him out.
“Stella did a good job, Rufus is happy, but I think Stella was relaxed now.”
Winnie said, not expecting him to forgive his father too, but at least he should say something.
“Brian, what do you think is the happiest in this world?”
Winnie asked.
“What?” asked, Brian.
“It is with your parents around. Your mother has gone, but your father is still alive, I hope you can feel
the happiness.”
Winnie did not wish that he could forgive his father at once, but he had not show his sincere that he
was working on it.
Brian felt silence, so Winnie knew he needed a space to think about it, and she went back to the ward.
The surgery would start soon, and as Rufus was about to pushed in, Felix came.
“Why you still come?”
Rufus felt the burden. His father never showed his love like this.
“I am worried, so I came.”
Felix was afraid there were accident to happen.
“I am ok, go back, it will take hours, you can’t wait that long.”
“Brian, send your grandfather back.”
Rufus told Brian, but Felix refused to leave.
“I am not going back. Your father has RhD, so have I, if needed, I can give him my blood.”
What was why Felix came.
“Grandpa, you are old now, you don’t have to do that, Vanessa is RhD too, she is here, so everything
will be ok.”
Brian knew his grandfather was RdD, but Felix was over 90s, so he would not let Felix do it.
“Vanessa?”
Felix was surprised.
“Yes, she can give Dad blood”
Brian gave his answer.
Everything was ready, so Felix had no need to worry.
“I am not going back, if i am tired, i will go back myself.”
Felix said as he locked his eyes at Vanessa.
“Rufus, time to the surgery room.”
Kevin came with the nurse, pushing a wheelchair.
Stella spoke up, “I will sent Grandpa back when he is tired. Dad, go, so that you can go back soon.”
Stella knew everyone was nervous, and if the surgery ended soon, everyone would be at ease soon.
“Ok, take care of your grandpa.”
“Go then”
Rufus had to agree.
“Rufus, sit in the wheelchair, I will push you in.”
Kevin said, taking the wheelchair.
“No need, I can walk.”
Rufus said, as he walked into the surgery room.
Everyone stopped at the door.
“Vanessa, stay here, and be ready.”
Kevin said to Vanessa.
“I know, I will be here.”
Vanessa was nervous, and she wished Rufus could be ok.
“I am here too. Don’t worry.”
Felix assured Kevin, for fear that Rufus’ surgery would be affected.
“I will do my best.”
Kevin knew that a 90-year-old man was not suitable for blood donation, but when necessary, he had to.
“You don’t have to wait here, go and have rest.”
Rufus was worried about them instead of himself.
“I will be fine, don’t worry.”
Stella said, and she wanted to see his father finish his surgery.
“Winwin, please help me take care of my father.”
Rufus said to Winnie.
“Don’t worry, Rufus, I will.”
Winnie had been silent for she had no a chance to express her mood, but now she did not know what
to say.
“Thank you, Vanessa.”
Rufus looked over Vanessa, who had the same blood as him. He had never expected that she would
be in front of him like she did now.
