The next morning, Winnie went to work as normal. Before she got to work, Officer Lee asked her to go
the police station.
When she parked the car in parking lot in the public security bureau, the space was occupied by
another car.
Winnie was angry that someone took her space.
But she did not care about it but parked her car in the next space and then got off the car.
In her hurry, she kept the uniform in her hand instead of wearing it.
Taking the uniform she was in a hurry to go, but was stopped by the car owner who took her space.
"Wait, which department are you from? Why don't you wear a uniform but carry it in your hand?"
The man said to Winnie in a deep voice with dissatisfaction.
Winnie looked at the man beside her. He was tall and strong. He looked fierce.
He looked mighty and fine, and his clothes were not uniform, but he was so nosy.
Winnie was not impressed by the meddlesome man, but neither did she express it.
"I'm in a hurry. I'll go to the office to change my uniform."
Winnie gave a simple answer, continued to move forward. But she was again stopped by this man.
"Wait, I'm not finished."
"Which department are you in? How can you have such a nice car? Are you corrupt?"
The man asked very directly.
However Winnie was impatient.
"Excuse me, which department are you from? I have a uniform in my hand, but you haven't even taken
a uniform. This is to respect your work?"
"What's wrong with me driving this car? I made money to buy it. I don't steal or rob and there's no place
for me to corrupt."
"Sir, I'm in a hurry to get to work, so help yourself."
Winnie gave a stern look at the man and ran away. The man delayed her time, and she had to trot all
the way to her office.
Winnie changed her uniform before she went to see Officer Lee.
"What can't you say over the phone?"
Seeing Officer Lee, Winnie could not wait to ask. She'd had a busy morning.
"Alas...... Don't mention it."
Officer Lee came to meet her.
"We wanted to have a farewell party for the director today, but he left after the report this morning. I
asked you to come and see him, but you came too late."
"The former director said he came early and left early because he didn't want to see too many people.
He said he'd be sad."
Officer Lee explained, which made Winnie upset.
Because she failed to see the former director and the man just now delayed her time.
"I'm so angry. If I hadn't met a madman, I would have seen the former director. Don't let me see that
madman again."
Winnie could not help but ridicule.
"Forget it, whatever madman it was. We'll see the former director when we have a chance."
Officer Lee didn't know what happened to Winnie, but it didn't seem to be anything important.
"By the way, since you're here today, stay longer. I heard that the new director will come later, so we
can meet him."
"Well, be sure to call me when you have time to see the former director."
Winnie seemed to still be upset that the former director left lonely.
The former director promised her to arrange her a school, but he'd leave in such a hurry.
Winnie returned to her office and began to work. As for when to see the director, she would wait for
Officer Lee to call her.
However, Winnie did not receive the news of Officer Lee after she had been working for a long time. It
was noon, and she had to go back to her company.
So she decided not to wait, packed up and was ready to leave. Just as she was about to change her
clothes, a colleague came over and called her.
"The director wants you in his office."
"Ok, I'll go right away."
Winnie wanted to go back quickly and then returned to her company.
At the door of the director's office, Winnie sorted out her uniform, knocked on the door and went in.
"Sir, I am Winnie Chambers."
Winnie introduced herself before she saw the face of the new director.
When she dutifully raised her hand in salute, she saw the new director standing before her.
"Are you...... No... Hello, Director."
Winnie recognized the director she called madman, who took her robbed her parking lot and said she
was not wearing uniform.
But why was the new director so young? He looked 40 at most.
"Winnie, now I know why you have such a nice car, and I know you have the privilege of not wearing a
uniform at work."
New director said in a composed manner and looked up and down at Winnie.
Out of uniform, she was gorgeous and young. In that uniform, she was handsome, smart.
The director stood in front of her, and said words that stunned Winnie.
It didn't seem to matter whether the car was expensive or not, the important thing was that she was not
corrupt. But she wouldn't dare say anything like that.
"The police allow me to do so, but I love the uniform."
It took her a long time to come up with this sentence.
The man with healthy skin looked stern, and he was wearing a police uniform that was handsome but
oppressive. As if he were righteous and Winnie was a criminal.
"Sorry about the parking lot."
Director apologized, which surprised Winnie. Was this the difference between police and ordinary
people?
“I did not do a good job, and you should point it out."
This was the first time Winnie made flattery. It was hypocritical, but she was a ordinary person.
"The former director told me something about you. I have a meeting today and I'll talk to you when I
can."
"You can leave now."
His words stunned Winnie.
When Winnie was out of the office, she still thought about it. She was confused why he said that to her.
Forget it, get some food first and then go back to the office, so she went to find Officer Lee.
Officer Lee had got her food ready, so she sat down with a smile.
“Thank you, you know what I like.”
“Did you hear what others are saying?”
Officer said.
“What?”
Confused, Winnie looked around and did not hear anything, so she turned to ask Officer Lee.
“What did they say? I heard nothing.”
“They are talking about the new director.”
Officer Lee felt Winnie did not notice anything.
“What is it?”
Winnie still felt nothing.
“He became a director at 38, but the policewomen did not care about his age, but cared about whether
he is single.”
Office Lee said, but Winnie was still indifferent.
“It is boring, they are gossip girls, but the director is just 38?”
His age got Winnie’s attention.
“How old do you think he is?”
Office raised his head and asked Winnie. Winnie had just met the director.
“He is composed and I think he is at least 40.”
Winnie believed in her judgement.
But it amused Office Lee.
“If the director heard it, you will be punished to work overtime.”
Officer burst into laughter, but there was a voice.
“Yes, Officer Chambers, you should work overtime tonight.”
Hearing that, Winnie turned around and fond the director standing behind her holding the food.
Winnie hurried to turn to Officer Lee and blamed him not telling her that the director was behind her.
Officer Lee had seen the new director, so he knew it was the director standing behind Winnie, but he
had not noticed that.
And the director’s arrival at the canteen caused discussion of the girls, but few people had seen him.
Officer Lee put down the chopsticks and was to salute to him, but the director stopped him.
“Sit down. I am here for dinner, no need to do that.”
“Can I sit down?”
The director asked politely.
“Sure, sure.”
Officer Lee let the director sit next to Winnie.
Winnie was awkward. It seemed that she could not talk too much at any case, because she would not
know what would happy next.
“Officer Chambers, did you break the law by giving others’ nickname?”
The director asked seriously, as if Winnie had made a big mistake.
“It is a metaphor, director, I did not break the law.”
Officer burst into laughter, but there was a voice.
“Yes, Officer Chambers, you should work overtime tonight.”
