Vanessa understood Winnie's explanation, but she could not accept it. She refuted Winnie's words, and
did not want Winnie to solve all the problems with a kind heart.
"Sister, there are many ways to solve the problem. They speak for you, it doesn't mean they have to
have quarrel. As long as the method is right, it can be completely solved, why they did nothing but
watch you were bullied?"
"Vanessa, that was the easiest way. We had just begun to eat, and we couldn't delay the time to have
meal. And, I promise you, I won't go to the old house any more. No one can bully me."
Winnie knew her grievances, also knew that sacrificing her was not the only solution. But they were the
Bennet family and only she could be sacrificed.
Winnie thought so, but she could not say that to Vanessa, or Vanessa felt her more oppressed.
There was no chance that she could go to the old house. Once Brian had a blind date, she might not
even be able to live in the suburbs. There was no need to worry about the future.
There was nothing human about the family and it made no difference to her if she went there or not.
"And Brian, don't you blame him. He's the last one who can speak. I told him before I went to Bennet’s
house not to be on my side, in any case."
"It was all family to him, and if he stood up for me on occasions like that, there would be chaos and
quarrels at the table. Once they had quarrels, they think worse of me and I will have to take the blame."
"That is it and it had been solved smoothly. I feel it was much better to have a quarrel. Vanessa, there
are many ways to solve the problem, but to use the simplest and best method is the smartest choice."
"There must be some grievance, but it's worth changing your position."
Winnie was afraid that Vanessa hated Brian and had bad impression on Brian, so she had to explain to
Vanessa constantly.
Actually, when Maria made it hard for her, she hoped that Brian could speak for her, but it was all about
the big picture.
"Sister, but do you have to stand in other people's position and suffer grievance yourself all your life?"
Vanessa managed to hold back her tears, but after hearing her sister's considerate words, she shed
tears again.
Her sister did nothing wrong to anybody, her sister would rather suffer grievance than compete with
others. This made others comfortable, but she had to be wronged.
"No, I won't be like this all my life. When the chips are down, when it comes to principle, Brian will be
there for me. If he makes me feel wronged all my life, then he is not worth my love."
If Brian really made her feel wronged, Winnie would not give him a chance.
"Sister, why are you so silly? Why don’t you love yourself?"
Vanessa hugged Winnie and cried. She knew that no matter how much she loved her sister, she could
not change her sister’s attitude, could not change her sister’s way.
"I feel enough you love. Well, don't cry, with you, I am not afraid of anything."
Winnie patted Vanessa on the back to appease Vanessa. She knew she was silly, or how she would
stay with Brian?
"Sis, we really can leave. I can go to school in any country. I can study well in any country. If you can
leave Brian, let's go. No one likes us here. It's all people who hate us. No one likes us abroad, but at
least we don't have to be hated. We don’t need to see other’s black faces."
Vanessa still felt that they should leave, so that her family could live a quiet life.
"Are you willing to let two children leave their father?"
Winnie did not object directly, but asked Vanessa a question.
Vanessa lay on Winnie's shoulder, silent. Yes, the two children were reluctant to leave, or they would
have left.
"No, We have no parents. We can't let the children leave parents."
Vanessa left her sister's shoulders, sat up straight and took a deep breath. Though she had vented her
anger, she was defeated by the existence of two children. She could only understand everything for the
sake of two children.
"Sis, I don't want to live here. I want to move out."
Vanessa could not see her sister to be bullied by the Bennet family, and did not want to eat and drink
free there and her sister was discriminated against.
"Where are you going, Vanessa? I will worry if you are not here."
Winnie was worried Vanessa to be alone. If she could feel relived, she would not let Vanessa came to
the Bennet’s house.
"Sister, I live in the schoolhouse with my classmates and eat in the school canteen. I feel comfortable
spending my own money on food and shelter. That's it. Bring me there on Monday when you go to
work."
Vanessa said with a firm attitude. She did not want to leave her sister, but she had grown up and could
not bother her sister any more.
"Vanessa..."
"Sister, I have decided. I will tell Rufus I have a lot to study and it is a waste of time to go back and
forth."
Vanessa did not give Winnie the chance to speak but made the final decision.
The Bennet family was so good to her that she couldn't tell it was true or not. Though she asked herself
to understand everyone, she could not figure out why they could be so indifferent to the bullying to her
sister.
In the old house.
After everyone had gone, Felix was drinking tea alone in his study, while thinking of Winnie's attitude
towards Maria today.
Considering the overall situation, she endured the grievance, there was only she could be so
considerate probably.
She didn't make things worse, she didn't embarrass the Bennet family, she didn't turn a nice reunion
dinner into a war zone.
Only she could be so tactful.
Thinking of Maria's attitude to Winnie, Felix was angry. He got up, opened the door and shouted to
Thomas.
Not much later Thomas trotted over.
"Dad, what is up?"
Thomas asked carefully. But Felix's attitude was very cold.
"Tell your wife to get out of the house if she talks nonsense again when there were visitors. She doesn’t
even have the intelligence to deal with children, just wants to make fun of others. Who does she think
she is?"
"It was Winnie who came. I didn't say anything. Who is to hear her talking in a strange way? She
doesn’t accept your brother's family before I'm dead.”
Felix was scolding. He was unsatisfied for Maria's behavior today. Although he did not stop in time, she
should know to stop in time and should know it was not suitable to play rough today.
"Dad, don't be angry. I told her off in the room just now. But she was angry because Winnie didn't say
hello to her when she came in.”
"She was targeting Winnie's impolite behavior, not brother's family. You think too much."
Thomas explained for his wife. He knew that his wife had made troubles today, but play rough to
Winnie was not a bad thing.
"Winnie was not polite to her? I didn't see it. Even if Winnie did not say hello, she could not haggle over
every ounce. Don't cover for her. I think she just wants to show her status and play rough to Winnie."
Felix did not believe in Thomas's explanation, he did not find a good excuse. Winnie was a person who
could handle big things properly. How could she neglect such small things as etiquette?
"Dad, I scolded her. Besides Winnie is not a family member of us, don't pursue it. I'll warn Maria again
and it won't happen again."
Thomas did not bother to explain, said perfunctorily and then changed the topic.
"Dad, Brian has been back for several days. Will you arrange his blind date?"
"Yes, it is a must. I will tell you the exact time after I confirm with Brian."
Felix gave a straightforward answer without hesitation. After answering, he remembered Winnie's tact,
wisdom and reason.
He did not know which one would be better between Winnie and the blind date.
Winnie returned to her room when Vanessa stopped crying, but she didn't succeed in stopping Vanessa
from moving out.
"Vanessa’s mood..."
Brian went to Winnie. He heard from the beginning to the end and knew Vanessa's attitude, but he still
wanted to show his concern.
But when he went to Winnie, he found Winnie's eyes were red and swollen, so he could see that she
had cried.
"Did you cry?”
Brian asked sadly. He only heard Vanessa crying, but did not hear Winnie crying.
"Yes, Vanessa cried and I did not control myself from crying."
Winnie explained in a low voice. There was no way she could stand it when her sister was crying. After
her parents died, she tried her best not to grieve her sister, but her sister cried sadly because of her.
"I'm sorry, it's all my fault. You've both been wronged."
Brian held Winnie in his arms and said sorry. Vanessa was right that he was not thoughtful and that he
failed to protect Winnie.
"Never mind. Don't say sorry."
There was a grievance, but Brian made it up to her with a hug.
"Vanessa is young and has not experienced these things. For so many years she was under protection
of me and my aunt. She does not know what is grievance, so she could not accept it. Don't worry, I
explained everything to her and there will be no emotion."
Winnie understated their injustice.
"By the way, Vanessa's behavior today is very impolite, is Rufu angry?"
"No, no. He has been worrying about Vanessa."
Brian knew that his father would not haggle over every ounce, so he would not be angry with Vanessa.
Instead, he cared about her even more than he did.
"Good, I'm glad that he doesn’t mind it."
"Brian, Vanessa said she had intense task in study, so she needs to move to the school. There will be
teachers and classmates to take care of her and it will not waste time on the way to school, and Rufus
doesn’t need to pick her up. So I agreed."
