Brian wondered if Wendy had anything to do with it, or if she was an insider.
But she should not have so much ability to instigate the police or bear the consequences of this matter.
"I will thoroughly investigate it when I am back, you continue to eat."
"Morgan, confirm whether the rainstorm warning has been lifted after dinner. It doesn’t rain now."
With that, he got up and went to the window to see if the sky cleared.
As he was observing, his phone rang. The number showed the city where Winnie lived, and it was a
foreign number. Brian hesitated for a moment before he picked it up.
Before Brian could say a word, Oscar’s voice was heard.
"Mr. Brian, where are you? Why don't you come to the police station? Come on, Winwin has a high
fever and has been taken away by the police. It is not safe for a woman.”
Oscar directly told Brian that Winnie was taken away before he told the whole situation.
"High fever? Winwin has a high fever again? I'm trapped in another city because of the rainstorm. I
can't go back."
Winnie was taken away with a high fever, he was more worried.
"You can't come back, then send someone here. It has been ten hours till now from afternoon. Have
you not noticed that Winwin is missing? They locked us up. No one came to ask. They just left us here
without giving us food. It's cold and humid here at night, Winwin can’t take it with her condition."
Oscar was incoherent. He did not know what to say, but just said what it had occurred to his mind.
"I've been trying to find you. The driver who picked you up did not know which police station took you
away. I've got someone connecting with the embassy. A few hours ago Luke found your specific
location. I have asked the hotel manager to come to you, but he was not allowed to go in."
"I will tell the details when I go back. Now the most important is Winwin, how is she?"
How could Brian not look for her? It was only that he could not go back and there were something
which could not be dealt with easily. While he was on the phone, Morgan heard him and ran over.
"Morgan, confirm again and see if we can leave."
After giving orders to Morgan, Brian heard Oscar's answer.
“She is sick badly and has just been taken away by the police. They may take her to the hospital, but
I'm afraid that someone is trying to do something to her, because the way the police treat us is
abnormal."
Oscar showed his concerns. Before he could see Winnie, he was worried.
"Damn the police, I'm going to hold them accountable. I'm going to get them out of that uniform. Oscar,
don't worry, I will send someone to the nearby hospital to look for Winnie."
Brian was to go crazy. He could not leave now and did not know the situation of Winnie. Now he
wished he were the Monkey King and could fly to Winnie with a somersault.
"If you know someone in the embassy, ask the embassy to look for her. Even if we find her, we may not
see her."
Oscar gave his opinion, because the embassy was more powerful. At least they could meet Winnie and
it could ensure her safety.
"Ok, I arrange it now, contact me when you have news."
Brian hung up the phone and then called the friend in the embassy. Then he called Manager Lee and
asked him to look for a larger area.
After arranging everything, Morgan gave him good news.
"Mr. Bennet, the warming is lifted. We can leave immediately."
Brian marched out of the room without hesitation. He wanted to see Winnie now. He wanted to hold her
in his arms and apologize to her because it was his bad.
Half an hour later, Brian successfully returned to the city of Winnie. After asking the hotel manager to
take care of Wendy, he joined to find Winnie with Morgan.
As he returned to the city, he felt anxious, afraid that Winnie might have an accident.
After looking for her like a headless chicken for a while, he met a friend from the embassy in a hospital
a little far from the police station.
After they communicated for a while, they came to the nurse.
"Was there a woman brought in by the police..."
Before Morgan finished asking, a nurse pointed in the direction of the emergency room.
"There's a woman over there getting infusion, and the police are there."
Brian ran along the direction of the nurse's fingers before the nurse finished her words.
Morgan and the friend from the embassy followed him.
Brian ran to the emergency room, and sure enough, he saw Winnie lying there with her eyes closed
and her face flushed as if she was still in a high fever.
However, when Brian walked to Winnie, he was stopped by two police. Brian was angry and punched
at them.
Before he could punch at the police, he was stopped by his friend.
“Brian, calm down; if you hit them, we can’t give explanation.”
"Winnie is here, you don't have to worry. I'll communicate with them."
At this time Morgan also stopped Brian. While his friend was speaking, he had pulled Brian aside.
The friend of the embassy first showed his work permit to the police, and when the police saw it, they
were timid.
"This lady is from our country and we have the right to see her."
"You have the right, but this is our country, and you have to cooperate before the investigation."
The police encouraged themselves to confront the man at the embassy. Now they knew it became big,
but their self- esteem would not allow them to give up.
"We are cooperating with the investigation. We have proper documents. But you detained them for
more than ten hours. Have you conducted an investigation? Have you questioned the people involved?
Your enforcement seems unfair and I will go through the proper channels to hold you accountable."
The friend of the embassy was a formidable character, with a tough attitude and no sign of fear.
"We are doing our work. We have not done with our investigation. Please cooperate."
The attitude of the police apparently relented, and they were somewhat afraid of the embassy's
involvement.
"Yes, you are doing your work, but you should have regular procedures, and I would like to see what
your regular procedures are. Police, I am not satisfied now, please ask the leader of your police station
to show your handling procedures."
The friend at the embassy had been through many of these things, but the police’s response was out of
the norm. And they were already showing signs of guilt.
Just after the friend of the embassy showed his attitude, Brian spoke.
"I will pursue this matter, but my wife is the most important right now. I want to know how she is, and if
she is in danger?”
Since she had been found, he could investigate the responsibility gradually. He was worried about
Winnie who was quietly lying there.
"She has a fever, the doctor has given her medicine. Don't worry."
One of the police answered Brian.
But Brian could not accept his understatement.
"Don't worry? What if it was your family lying there? Will you not be worried? Let me in, and I want to
make sure myself that she is all right."
Brian could only see Winnie, but could not touch her. Before he could confirm that she was ok, he
would be always worried.
"Sorry, she's under investigation and you can't get close to her."
The police insisted, though he was nervous, which made Brian go furious.
Again he swung his fist at the police, but was stopped by Morgan and his friend.
His friend was sensible and knew what the punch would do. So he had been alert to the impulse of
Brian.
"Let me go."
Brian shouted angrily.
"Calm down, Mr. Bennet. We can't turn a good thing into a bad one."
Morgan persuaded Brian.
Brian still angrily shouted at the police.
"Listen, I'm not going to spare you. If you insist on not letting me see her, I will escalate this conflict into
a diplomatic conflict between the two countries. I will pull back all my investments in your country. If you
can afford it, keep stopping me."
Brian was angry, like a mad lion. Even if the hunter aimed his gun at him, he could not calm his
persistent heart that he wanted to see Winnie.
Brian's angry warnings seemed to have worked, as the police officers stood looking at each other. They
did not know what kind of character Brian was, but if he had no background and strength, he would not
be so arrogant.
One of the policemen walked over to Brian.
"Sir, please show your ID card."
"I have it."
Morgan took out Brian's ID car and handed it to the police.
The police scanned it with a device in their hands, which revealed the information about Brian,
including his many investments in the country.
After the policeman finished reading, his face changed slightly and he looked back at his colleague.
After several police officers made eye contact, the officer turned around and handed the ID card to
Morgan.
"You can go and see by yourself, Sir."
The police compromised. As his voice fell, Brian strode to Winnie's bedside.
"Winiwn...Winwin…I am Brian."
"Winwin, wake up."
Brian's voice was so urgent that his voice was like a fire.
"I'm fine, don't worry."
Winnie's depressed voice shocked Brian's heart. He held Winnie's hand excitedly and then asked with
concern.
"Are you all right? Do you feel any uncomfortable? Did they beat you?"
"No, don't worry, I'm fine."
It was the same sentence. Winnie pacified Brian with her weak voice.
She head Brian shouted at the police. This man wanted to escalate the conflict into a diplomatic conflict
between the two countries for her. He wanted to withdraw all his investments for her.
It had no doubt that at this moment this man loved her, which made her feel warm and loved.
It was Brian, whose voice sounded even more worrisome, who desperately needed reassurance.
"Are you really all right?"
Brian looked at Winnie in disbelief. Her face looked bad and rosy. She opened her eyes slowly which
was red, she must have a high fever.
