Brian did not dare to make a big move, afraid of hurting Winnie's wound. He could only watch her
slowly walk back step by step.
Just a few steps back and forth had made Winnie panting and sweating.
She put her hand to the wound and the other on the edge of the bed. She had to save up her strength
before going to bed, or else she would have to sleep on the floor for the night.
Brian looked at Winnie's stubborn appearance. He could not bear it. He wanted to come forward to
help her, but Winnie refused again.
"Go out and answer the phone, she's waiting."
Winnie put all her last strength on this sentence, and it seemed that she would have to wait a little
longer.
Brian could not bear it and finally hung up the phone and came to Winnie.
"I'll help you to bed, and when you lie down, I'll go out and make phone calls."
Winnie bowed her head and smiled wryly, thinking that she should be satisfied. She thought that he
should hang up the phone before helping her to bed. But now she wondered why he had to make the
call. Couldn't he end it for her?
It seemed that people were greedy. With what should Brian hang up the phone of his beloved woman
for her? He was gentle to her for a few days, and she forgot who she was.
In order to make Brian go out to make a phone call, in order not to affect their communication, Winnie
took a deep breath, turned around and sat on the bed.
It was a bit of a big move and no doubt hurt the wound. But she gritted her teeth without even frowning.
"Give me the remote control. I can lie down myself. You go am make phone call."
Winnie whispered slowly. Now she felt pain even when breathing, but she must not become a burden
to Brian.
Brian handed the remote control to Winnie and walked out of the room. Then he picked up the phone.
Instead of leaving the door, he turned around and looked at Winnie through the glass.
Winnie rested for a while and lifted her legs to the hospital bed, and then moved to straighten out her
body. At this time Brian could clearly see Winnie's facial expression, which was painful.
Brian knew that she must have hurt the wound, but she did not say it when he was there.
Such Winnie let him feel distressed.
"Hello, Brian..."
“Are you there, Brian?”
“Brian?”
The phone had been connected, it came the urging voice, which got Brian’s attention.
"Wendy."
“What's the matter with you, Brian? What happened? What wound?"
Wendy's voice was clearly anxious. She had just heard Brian talking to another man on the phone, but
she had not heard the other man's voice.
She was worried and didn't know who the injured person was.
"Nothing. A friend got hurt. I came to visit her in hospital."
Brian understated, but the line of sight still fell on Winnie.
Looking at her wrinkled eyebrows stretching, his felt relieved.
"What friend? A woman?"
Wendy felt it was a woman, because the tone of Brian was gentle. Only when facing a woman, men
would unconsciously became gentle.
"......"
Brian was silent for a moment.
"Yes."
Wendy's heart suddenly trembled, but this was the first time that Brian admitted that he was facing a
woman.
Wendy had not doubted Brian’s feeling to her for so many years, because she knew Brian loved her,
but this time she felt it an exception.
Winnie was getting better, so she started to control the hospital bed with the remote control, trying to let
herself lie down, but as she put the bed down a little bit, her wound again was in pain. Her eyebrows
again twisted.
Seeing that, Brian felt anxious.
At the moment he wanted to hang up the phone regardless of everything to take care of Winnie, but the
voice of Wendy came over the phone again.
"Brian, you never cared about women. Is this a special woman?"
Wendy pretended to be ease and said so, in this way Brian would not think she was a stingy woman.
However, Brian suddenly got a cold voice, and it was the first time he spoke coldly to Wendy.
"Wendy, don't talk about anything else. I wonder when on earth you'll be back. Or do you have any
intention of coming back?"
If she would not come back, he wanted to be nice to Winnie. If she would not come back, he wanted to
take care of Winnie for the rest of his life and he wanted to her to be his rightful wife.
Wendy was stunned and unable to say a word.
She could not accept Brian changed his attitude and she did not know how to answer the question.
A moment later.
“Are you in love with another woman, Brian?”
Wendy did not answer but asked question. If he really fell in love with another woman, she would never
give up Brian like this.
"It has nothing to do with me, and I refuse to answer it. Wendy, You left out of angry and now it has
been years and I have been waiting for you. You should not be angry any more. I don't know why you
haven't come back yet.”
Brian continued to say coldly.
“I do now have a child. If you love me, we can work it out together. Even if you can't accept him, you
can't put off our love for so long. Are you gonna keep me waiting? Till when? When I get gray hair or till
next life?"
Brian really did not want to wait any longer. For the first time, he felt that waiting was a very torturing
thing. For the first time, he found that he had exhausted all his patience.
"Brian..."
"Don't put it off any more. I'll give you time to think it over and give me an answer. If you forgive me, I'll
come right back and get married with you. If you can't forgive me, that is it."
Brian hung up the phone decisively after finishing speaking. He was afraid that he would regret saying
such words. He was afraid that Wendy would say a few good words and he would continue to wait
unconditionally.
Brian pushed the door into the ward. Winnie had lied down.
Winnie, with her eyes closed, was still frowning.
"Winwin..."
Brian called her softly, and the indifference had ceased.
"I'm tired and want to sleep."
Winnie interrupted Brian on the pretext of being tired. At the moment her heart was aching inside and
out and she was not in the mood to speak.
"You haven't had your supper. Go to bed until after supper."
Brian looked at the time and said. He didn't want her to speak with emotion. He also wanted to
apologize and explain to her.
"I will sleep for a while before eating."
Winnie refused and kept her mouth shut.
Brian stood beside the bed and watched her for a while. He left the bed and sat down after making sure
Winnie was asleep.
Winnie had slept all night and did not open her eyes even though she woke up twice. Even when Brian
asked her to have dinner, she pretended to be deep in sleep and did not respond.
The next morning.
Brian drove to the suburbs of the city early so as not to affecting his children from going to
kindergarten.
Without Winnie's company, he was inexplicably flustered.
"Uncle, you are back. Why Mommy is not with you?"
As soon as he stepped into the door, Megan ran over, which let Brian's mood be relieved.
"I am here to pick you up. You'll see Mommy in a minute."
"Daddy."
Luke also ran over, followed by Rufus.
"You are here."
Rufus was the first to speak, but Brian did not answer and did not look at Rufus.
"You two needn't bring anything. You'll be brought here in the evening."
Brian avoided Rufus and communicated with two children.
"Do you have another business trip?"
Megan asked.
"Yes."
Brian planned to tell the truth to the two children in the hospital to in case they were worried all the way.
"Then let's go now."
Luke said. Since the time together was not long, it would be better as soon as possible.
"Come on."
Brian also wanted to leave as soon as possible. This home and the person in front of him made him
feel suffocated. If he didn't leave, he would suffocate.
Brian turned around and left with one child in each hand. The two children turned back and said
goodbye to Rufus as they walked.
"Good-bye, Grandpa!”
"Grandpa, we'll be back in the evening."
"Ok, be good. I am waiting for you."
Rufus also said goodbye to the children, following them.
Brian put the two children in the back seat and himself went to the driver seat. He was about to open
the door, but Rufus stopped him.
"I heard that Winwin is in the hospital. Take good care of her."
Rufus had heard about Winnie and been worried about her these days.
"I have my own way."
Brian said coldly and got into the car to leave.
Although his tone was cold, Rufus felt satisfied that he had spoken to himself.
With his children, Brian stopped at the door of Winnie's ward.
The two children looked at Brian in doubt.
"Uncle, why did you bring us here? Where is Mommy? Shouldn’t we meet Mommy?"
"Yes, Daddy, where is Auntie?"
"I have something to say. Now adjust your mood, no matter what I say, don't cry."
Brian asked the children to be ready. Hearing that, the two children were more worried.
"Ok, Daddy. Say it."
"Auntie is in there. Auntie is hurt. But don't worry too much about it."
"Mommy is hurt, how did Mommy hurt?"
Megan was a girl. Hearing that her mother was hurt, she was nervous.
"Never mind, she got hurt. Megan, Luke, don’t her, otherwise the wound will hurt."
Brian continued to explain, for fear that the two children would hurt Winnie's wound.
"Ok, let’s go in now."
Luke tried to control himself.
Brian went in with two children.
When the two children saw Winnie in her hospital gown, they immediately burst into tears and forgot
Brian's words. They directly pounced on Winnie.
Luckily, Brian was ready to run to the bed and stopped the two children, so as to avoid Winnie's second
injury.
"Mommy, what's the matter?"
"Auntie, are you hurt?"
The two children cried and said, with pain in their eyes.
At this time, Winnie's hospital bed slowly rose. Looking at the two children, she was pleased, although
they were crying.
"Stop crying. My wound hurts even more when you are crying."
