Looking at the gloomy sky, Winnie felt that the rain would not stop soon.
When people were unlucky, even the rain bullied them. It was lightning and thundering, which made
Winnie fear.
Now she wanted a car to go home, but she was scared to a taxi. So even though she was afraid, she
could only stand there and prayed that the rain would stop soon and her suffering would stop
immediately.
As Winnie was praying, a car passed in front of her and slammed on its brakes. Then the car backed
up until it stopped in front of her.
The car looked familiar to Winnie, but she couldn't remember whose car it was till Stefan got out of the
car.
"What are you doing here?”
Stefan ran to Winnie at the fastest speed, and looked up and down at Winnie to see whether she had
got drenched.
"I was out for a walk. It suddenly rained, so came here to shelter. Where are you going?"
As she asked, there was a sudden rumble of thunder, which made Winnie shudder. And it was caught
by Stefan’s eyes, so he said.
"Get in first."
He opened the car door and let Winnie get into the car first.
Then he ran to the back of the car, opened the trunk and got a piece of clothing.
"This is mind, I hope you don’t mind. Your clothes are wet, put it on lest catch a cold."
Stefan put his clothes on the shoulders of Winnie.
"You're wet, too. You might as well wear it."
Winnie wanted to return the clothes to Stefan, but was stopped by him.
"It's all right for me to get wet, but you'll catch a cold."
Stefan then turned up the temperature of the air conditioning, afraid that Winnie got a cold.
"I bother you again. I have been bothering you ever since we met, I don’t know when I do return the
favor to you."
Winnie could not remember how much trouble she made to Stefan.
"Don't say that. We are friends, and I have caused you too much inconvenience. Let me take you home
first, and don't say anything polite more."
Stefan was happy to meet Winnie and glad that he could help Winnie. There were a lot happened since
they met, but he thought it was a kind of fate.
As Stefan was ready to start the car, Winnie spoke.
"Are you busy?”
Stefan was puzzled about Winnie's question, but he still answered Winnie readily.
"No, I am going home, but I did not expect to meet you."
"Can you have a drink with me?"
Winnie did not want to go home, or she would feel depressed, irritable, and two kids would see
something wrong.
But now she desperately needed to release and vent out the unpleasant mood before she went home
and faced her kids.
Stefan looked at Winnie with a serious face. Seeing that she was depressed and gloomy, he knew that
Winnie encountered difficulties.
"All right, it happens that I haven't had a drink in a long time. But are you okay, your clothes get wet?"
Stefan was worried, physical health was much important than any difficulties.
"I am ok, it is just a little wet. And with your coat, I'm gonna all right. Let's go for a drink."
Winnie did not care if her clothes were wet. In her view, being sick or having a high fever was much
better than feeling heartache.
"Ok, let's go for a drink."
Stefan said. He hoped that Winnie could be healthy and carefree.
The two of them went to an elegant bar and sat down in a quiet corner. After ordering wine, Winnie took
a sign.
"I haven't been to a place like this for a long time. My life is very orderly and I have never had the time
or the mood to come to a place like this to relax."
Winnie said with sadness and helplessness.
She was not yet thirty, an age of passion and boundless imagination. But she had been on the run for
life for six years, a mother of two six-year-old kids, and a mistress who had been ignored.
It seemed that her life was so tiresome and she had nowhere to hide, but she had to face this ruthless
reality.
"We have time today, and I am the driver and bodyguard, you can relax."
Stefan didn't know what happened to Winnie, so he didn't know how to comfort her. All he could do was
to keep her safe while she was drinking.
"Ok, and don't laugh at me if I'm rude when I'm drunk."
Winnie really wanted to get drunk today, really wanted to release her depression. Even if Stefan was
not her bestie, she asked him to take care of herself.
"No, I won’t laugh at you."
As he spoke, the wine had been placed before them. Stefan personally poured wine and handed it to
her.
"You drink, I am responsible for taking care of you, so that you have no worries."
As Stefan's voice fell, Winnie directly drank it up, which shocked Stefan.
Stefan froze for a moment before he poured her another glass of wine.
"Slow down. If you get drunk after two glasses, you won't be able to relax."
Stefan saw that Winnie must have accumulated too many grievances and helplessness and it must be
a long time that she had not released her pressure and not she was out of breath.
Winnie was a woman with a story, far more complex than he imagined. However he did not know what
she had been through.
"You're right. I'll take it slow."
Winnie smiled and felt the burning sensation of the wine in her stomach.
She did not like to drink and had never drunk much. She could not accept that strong reaction that
when the wine was in her body.
But she was heartbroken, which was worse than the burning feelings. She would rather be burned than
feel the pain.
She told herself that since she wanted to relax by drinking, she would forget all the bad things and let
herself relax for a while, just for a while.
"You also drink, it is boring that only I drink."
With that, Winnie took a sip and felt the burning sensation from her throat to her stomach.
"No, I asked for a juice. Who's gonna drive you home if I get drunk? I'm just here for you."
Stefan asked nothing. He supported Winnie's drinking. He just wanted to be beside her silently and let
her relax.
"Well, I'll drink it myself."
Then Winnie took another sip.
"You know, I never knew it was such a good feeling to drink this kind of liquor. Once it's inside I can't
remember anything, I can only feel its power. It's good. It's really good. I will come to drink more often
to release myself so that I can bear more."
Then Winnie took another sip.
"Am I being nagging?"
Winnie turned her head and asked Stefan.
"No, it is normal communication, you are not nagging. You can say whatever you want, just pretend I
don't exist. You need to release your heart without reservation to feel comfortable.
Stefan didn't want to know what happened to Winnie, he just wanted Winnie to say it out and not to
suppress herself.
"Pretend you don't exist? It is rude. You are handsome. How many girls would be sad if I ignored you?"
Winnie joked, gratifying at Stefan's consideration.
She heard that Stefan knew she had something on her mind, but he never asked and let her do
whatever she wanted.
In her heart such a man was a good man, just like Leo and Oscar. But these nice guys did not belong
to her.
At the moment of surrogacy, she had given up the right to pursue a good man and was doomed to live
alone.
Winnie took a sip of wine and remembered her original idea.
The moment she slept with Brian, she had her life mapped out. From then on, she would try her best to
earn money, to take good care of her aunt and sister, to make them live a good life, and pay off the
debt left by her father.
This was the future she had planned as she sat by the bed waiting for Brian.
Now that she had a plan, she should insist no matter what happened. Never get married and never
bothered by love.
"When my father and mother died, they left me with a debt of nearly 100 million. I thought I was gonna
spend my whole life paying debts. I thought I had to pay them back before I died, but I paid them all
years early."
Winnie said casually. She never mentioned her father or mother to Brian.
It was not that she didn't want to say it, but every time she wanted to say it, something would happen to
Brian and Brian had never asked her about her parents and her past.
After several attempts to say it, Winnie did not want to mention it again. She did not want her past to
affect Brian's view of her family.
Stefan was shocked to hear that. How could she pay off nearly 100 million of debt? He frowned and did
not continue to talk, but secretly gave Winnie less powerful wine.
"Do you know how I paid it off?"
Winnie asked Stefan and smiled sarcastically.
"I am not proud of it. Not on my own ability."
"I sold my house left by my mother, my mother's house, my family's villa, and a house my grandfather
left to my aunt. In addition to the money I paid the bank, I paid each of my creditors in proportion, which
released some of our burden."
Winnie stopped at this.
