Brian gave an angry command. When Albert was to call Winnie, Brian stopped him however.
"Stop it. Leave her there."
He changed his mind and calmed himself down. Both of them needed time to think about it.
Albert put away his phone and looked at Calvin. The two made eye contact and decided to speak.
"Mr. Bennet, have you watched the video from the beginning to the end? Can it be a misunderstanding
of Winnie?"
Albert spoke first, followed by Calvin.
"Yes, Mr. Bennet, Winnie was not that kind of person, she would not do that."
“It doesn't matter if I watched it or not, it doesn't matter if you believe it or not, it matters that she
admitted it.”
Brian was angry that Winnie did not give any explanation but admitted it. Since she had admitted it, he
had nothing to say.
"Mr. Bennet..."
Albert tried to continue to persuade, but Brian interrupted him sharply.
"Don't say another word, we have officially broken up."
"Mr. Bennet, how can you break up? You can't break up without figuring things out. Even if Winnie
admitted it, it is not be true.
Calvin said anxiously hearing that they had broken up.
He and Albert had been worried these two days, afraid that they would break up out of anger, and now
they really had broken up.
"Mr. Bennet, aren’t you too impulsive? You've been through so much together, you can't just break up.
Winnie admitted it, she was probably angry.
Albert persuaded, he did want them do something regretful.
"Stay out of this and do your own jobs."
"Get out. I have to work."
Brian gave a cold command. They did not understand what happened to him and Winnie, and they had
no need to interfere with it. Since Winnie could be separated from him, he did no reason to ask her to
stay with him.
Albert and Calvin did not dare to speak again but obediently quit Brian's office.
Leaving Brian's office, they felt uneasy, so they decided to take time out at noon to meet Winnie.
They had appointment, but at noon Winnie could not keep the appointment for something.
Winnie received a network case of the public security department. She must finish all her work on
today to set aside two days to deal with the case.
So she worked overtime in the company at noon, even did not go home at night.
Winnie finished her work at three o'clock in the morning, so she drove directly to the police station. In
the parking lot of the police station, she formally changed into a police uniform for the first time and
wore her badge.
The sense of responsibility the dress gave her made her forget her pain.
Winnie was beautiful, in the handsome police uniform, she got a lot of attention. It was the first time
anyone except the leader had met Winnie.
They had heard that there was a new master was a woman, but no one thought she was so young and
so beautiful.
Winnie did not have time to know everyone, after a simple familiar with the case, she began to track on
the network.
It was night, and the other side was a criminal, so it was difficult to track. It was her first time to deal
with such tracking, she was particularly cautious.
She thought it would usually take her an hour to finish and five hours would be enough. But to her
surprised, it took her two days and nights.
"They got caught. We got a call just now saying the criminals Officer Chambers tracked down have
been arrested."
The silence of the office hall was suddenly broken by a policeman running excitedly across the hall.
Before Winnie had a reaction, there was cheer-up in the office hall.
"Good, finally."
"Good, good."
"It's all Officer Chambers’ credit. Officer Chambers is amazing."
Hearing the cheering and shouting, it was not until then that Winnie experienced the true joy of
success. This kind of achievement could not be replaced by her international awards.
"We worked together for two days and two nights. It isn’t my credit, it is the credit of our team."
Winnie responded in a modest way and enjoyed the happiness with everyone.
Winnie talked to the leader before going home.
She was so tired that she was to collapse. In a daze, she drove back home. Under such a state of
exhaustion, she met the last person she expected to see right on her doorstep.
Winnie felt her heart in pain again when she saw Brian again. And it was because she felt the
heartache that she knew she was alive.
"I'm very tired now. Can we talk after I get some sleep?"
Winnie spoke feebly, his eyes blurred like having a layer of ashes.
She had no mood or energy to talk to Brian about her kids and work. She simply wanted to sleep.
"Where have you been these days? You didn’t answer my phone, I failed to find you. What do you
want?"
Brian's tone was hard and cold, with rage. Since there had been no news from Winnie for two days, he
was as anxious as an ant on a hot pot. It was this anxiety that made him not pay attention to Winnie's
current state.
"I hung out with Stefan. Go back and call me if you need something."
With that, Winnie pressed the password of the house.
Brian was angry to hear that.
"Good, you had a good time. Don't worry about the kids. Have fun."
Brian said mercilessly and walked away with anger.
Winnie was in such a state of exhaustion that she slept only 12 hours in five days. Though the word of
‘kids’ did perk her up, she decided to go to sleep before her heart really stopped beating.
Winnie opened the door and went into the room. Then she came out again.
She changed the passwords of her house and walked back home.
She didn't wash her face, take a shower or even take off her clothes before she lied in bed.
Brian went downstairs angrily but suddenly she sensed something wrong with Winnie’s words.
Winnie said she had hung out with Stefan, but he had sent someone to Stefan's shop. Stefan had been
busy and was not with Winnie.
Winnie lied, but why?
Brian recalled carefully the scene when they talked and felt Winnie was in a bad state, so he walked
back.
When Brian rang the doorbell, no one answered, so he input the password, but the password had been
changed.
Under emergency Brian could only call Winnie.
But she did not answer till he made the fifth call.
"Please, can I get some sleep? Just pretend I'm still your girlfriend, and let me have some sleep, okay?
It's been five days. I've only slept twelve hours. I'll die if I don't sleep."
Winnie said in her dream, even if her consciousness was not awake, Winnie felt distressed.
"Please?"
Winnie once again whispered begging, her voice worried Brian.
He did not know what happened to Winnie these two days, did not know why she only slept for twelve
hours in five days, did not know why she was so tired.
He wanted to know the answer, but he gave up after hearing Winnie's weak pleading.
"Have a good rest..."
Before he finished speaking, he heard the sound of even breathing over the phone.
It sounded reassuring and familiar to him. He would never forget it.
Brian hung up the phone and left downstairs again.
Winnie slept until the next morning. After washing herself, she went to work without eating breakfast.
Laura wanted to report work, so they came to Winnie's office, and then Laura found Winnie looked bad.
So she asked with concern
"Why do you look bad these two days?"
"I had no enough rest."
Winnie was still weak. She had slept for a day and a night, and she didn't even eat anything until now,
so she had no vitality.
"Why? Is there something bothering you? How about breakfast? Have you eaten breakfast? Why you
look so weak?"
Laura was an experienced person in life. If Winnie ate breakfast, even if she did not have a good rest,
she would not look like this.
"You're right. I haven’t had breakfast. I......"
"What do you want to eat, I will buy some food for you."
Laura interrupted Winnie, took out her phone to order breakfast.
"Thank you, Laura, just get me some porridge."
Winnie did not refuse. At this time, her biological clock was out of order. If she did not get some food,
she would not be able to make it through.
Laura soon got the breakfast ready for Winnie and then continued to talk with Winnie.
"Did Klara and Wendy bother you again?"
Seeing Winnie's state, Laura thought the two bothered Winnie again, and it could be big, or Winnie
would not be in this state.
"They've been messing with me all the time, but I'm used to their tricks. It has nothing to do with them."
Winnie denied it, but she did not want to tell Klara that she and Brian had broken up before telling her
kids.
"Then why do you come to work here these two days?"
Laura did not believe Winnie's answer and continued to ask.
She knew Winnie was a woman who could endure everything.
Winnie raised the corner of her mouth bitterly. She had been concealing it well, but it had been seen
through, there must be something that she had not done well.
"I recently took a private job, and it was easy to get caught at the Bennet Group, so I came back to
work. Don't worry, Laura, I'll be fine. I can handle Klara and Wendy."
"I'm in this state because I've been staying up late to catch up on my private work."
Winnie made up a reason that could be believed to cover up her things. She now was not strong
enough to handle all the attention from everyone.
When she was strong enough and the kids knew it, when her family knew it, she would face
it.
