Calvin realized something, and before he said anything, Albert thought of the key to the problem.
"So, there were three people in the room, not two, as Mr. Bennet thinks."
"Yes, Mr. Bennet misunderstood Winnie. Let's go and tell him now."
Calvin was excited, hoping Brian give up marrying Gloria.
"Wait, that's not going to convince Mr. Bennet. He felt it complex and always thought a lot about
Winnie’s things. I'd better find out what's going on first."
Albert had to be cautious and tried to find out the truth through Cora in order to make Brian realize that
he misunderstood Winnie.
"How can you check? We don't have time."
Calvin was worried. Although they might fail to convince Brian, but they had to try.
"I will ask Caro what happened. I'll go and see her now and the result will come out soon."
Albert thought Brian and Gloria would not hold the wedding immediately, and he, if there was no
accident, would know the real situation this night.
"Hurry up then and I'll take care of your work."
Calvin said and he must support Albert. There would be a meeting, if Albert was absent, Brian would
be furious. But there was no choice. Even if Brian blamed, he had to take it.
As his voice fell, Albert had run out. They must find out the truth, at least to prove that Winnie was
innocent, though Brian was suspicious.
When Albert came to the hotel, Caro had come home from work and she had no answered his call. He
found her home with the help of Caro's colleague, but she was not at home.
In this case, Albert could only go back to the company for a meeting.
After work, Carp’s phone died, so she charged it in the car and then went to Stefan's restaurant. So,
Albert could not find her.
Winnie slept at noon, so she had to work overtime.
She did not finish till seven o'clock at night. As she closed the door of the office, she found Klara was
waiting for the elevator.
"You are still here, Director Chambers."
It was the 30th floor and it was close to the president's office. Brian was still at work, so Klara must be
polite to Winnie.
"I've just finished my work."
Winnie gave an indifferent answer. She did not ask Klara why she was there so late, but Klara told her.
"We just had an important meeting, and Mr. Bennet invites us to dinner after it. I'll go back to the office
and get my bag, and then we'll have dinner."
Winnie didn't say anything but gave a faint smile. She knew that Klara said it deliberately. Speaking of
food, she seemed to have eaten nothing but porridge since morning, but had vomited it.
Two people entered the elevator together. As the elevator door closed, Klara's face changed.
"Director Chambers, I heard that you broke up with Mr. Bennet. You are so scheming, why didn’t you
ask him to stay?"
Klara said sarcastically, even her eyes were sinister.
Winnie took a look at her.
"Klara, you are so hypocritical. I think you just pretended to be polite because Brian was there.
"Hum... You changed your face as soon as you stepped into the elevator.
"You must hear from Wendy that I broke up with him. No. you two made us part."
Winnie had given up any hope for Klara. Since Klara caused endless trouble to her, she would not
endure it. But now she could not expose the fact, she would deal with Klara after Brian and Gloria
married.
"Director Chambers, that is not true. You can't keep Mr. Bennet yourself, how can you blame me?"
Klara calmly answered Winnie, it could be seen that she was ready.
"Klara, you need not pretend innocent in front of me. Wendy does not understand my professional, but
you do. I know a lot more than you think. There are monitors all over, I can get to know the secrets of
your cell phone. Do you think there's anything I don't know?"
"Again, it is not easy for you to get this job, and you should work hard. Don't provoke me. My patience
is limited."
Winnie warned her. She gave Klara chance again and again, if she did not stop that after Gloria and
Brian married, Winnie would be cruel to her.
"Winnie, you are against the law. If I find someone more skillful to find out what you have done, you will
be in prison."
Klara said angrily, but she knew that it was difficult to find people more skillful than Winnie.
"Let's see if you can protect yourself until you find someone more skillful than me."
As Winnie’s voice fell, the elevator stopped.
"You should go out now."
Winnie said confidently. She was not afraid of someone more skillful, because she did not break the
law.
Klara glared at Winnie and got off the elevator.
Winnie's car parked in the underground parking lot, when she came to the parking lot, Brian stepped
out of his exclusive elevator.
Winnie did not like to see him like this.
She nodded to Brian nodded as greeting. Without saying a word, she walked toward her car. And then
she heard the voice of Calvin from behind.
"Mr. Bennet, isn't that Director Chambers? She just got off work, too. Would you like to have dinner with
her?"
Calvin wanted them to have dinner together, so they could have a talk.
"No."
Brian said coldly.
Winnie did not stop walking because of it. She pretended she heard nothing, and walked straight to her
car.
Now her heart ached, but she thought of nothing. When Brian called her, they would tell the kids what
happened.
Leo went directly to Emily's house after work, regardless of that Emily wanted to see him or not. Since
he learned that Penny suffered from cancer, he truly realized the impermanence of life.
He did not want to continue to waste time, did not want to take it slow, he just wanted to leave the time
to Emily and enjoy happiness together.
"Leo, you are here, with presents!"
Seeing that Leo walked into the house, Emily's mother Christine smiled from ear to ear. And she was
gratified to see Leo’s presents in his hands.
Christine said while walking up to greet Leo.
"Christine, it's heavy, let me take it."
How could Leo ask Christine for help?
Leo walked to the kitchen, while talking to Christine.
"Here are the ingredients for tonight, I've got them ready. Today I am free and I will cook for you."
Leo was not eager to know if Emily was at home, because he did not plan to go tonight. Even if Emily
was not at home, he could wait until she came back.
"Really, that's great. I'll call Charles and make sure he comes back for dinner."
Christine said and ran to call her husband.
And then she ran to the kitchen.
"I help you, it is hard for you."
"No need, Christine, you go and rest, I can do it alone."
Leo took out the ingredients from the bag one by one.
"Look at me. I'm all thumbs. I'll call Emily down to help you."
Christine said that, and quickly went to Emily.
Hearing that Emily was at home, Leo smiled happily.
Emily came downstairs and saw Leo.
"Why are you here?"
Emily asked with displeasure.
"I am free today, so I come and cook some dishes to see if your parents like me."
Leo joked. He wanted to change Emily's attitude, to comfort her injured heart with his real heart.
"Ok, then, do it yourself and don't ask me for help."
Emily turned around, but was stopped by Christine.
"You are rude, Leo is not your boyfriend, you can’t do that."
Christine did not like her daughter's attitude towards Leo. And she supported Leo.
"He's not my friend, I don't have to..."
"He's my friend, you can't have that attitude. Leo doesn't know where the oil, salt, sauce, vinegar and
sugar are. If you don't help him, should I help him? I have trachea inflammation and I cannot smell the
smell of lampblack, don’t you know that..."
"All right, all right, don't nag, I will help. You can threaten me for the rest of my life with your trachea
inflammation."
Emily had heard it for many days. If she didn't give in now, she'd get blow in the ear.
"I would not have nagged if you said yes earlier. Give this to Leo, otherwise it will get clothes dirty."
Christine gave a pink apron with cartoon patterns to Emily.
Emily glared at the apron.
"It's a woman's apron. How can a man use it?"
"As long as the clothes will not get dirty. If Leo's clothes get dirty, you wash it, so it doesn’t matter."
Christine's provocative method was effective. As her words just fell, Emily grabbed the apron. Then she
went to Leo.
He gave the apron to Leo and let him put it on, but Leo would not miss such an opportunity.
"Help me put it on. My hands are dirty."
Leo was cutting vegetables, so both hands were dirty. Emily could only help him.
"Bow your head."
Emily ordered, because Leo was higher than her, only Leo bowed his head could she put it
on.
