Wendy didn't say anything, but Winnie got up to leave.
The reason why she had to leave was because Brian was intentionally or unintentionally creating
opportunities for Wendy to admit her mistake, and he did not expose her himself.
Brian still couldn't bear to hurt Wendy, so if she stayed, she would affect Brian's attitude towards
Wendy.
She stood up, but her hand was still in Brian's hand, and it wasn't easy for her to step away.
"Winnie, sit down, you have to know what happened. If she doesn't admit her fault, I will go and sue
her."
Brian held Winnie's hand tight, knowing what was in her mind.
Weny might not know Brian's intentions, but Winnie knew.
Brian knew that repeatedly giving Wendy a chance was unfair to Winnie. But he had to do it, for he felt
indebted to Wendy.
Wendy immediately panicked when she heard that.
"Brian ...... Mr. Bennet, what matters have to be solved by legal means? We are friends, we can talk
about it."
Wendy really didn't know what Brian was referring to, she didn't dare to admit her mistake easily, if
what she admitted was not the same as what Brian said, she would expose herself.
"Any one of the thing you have done can be settled by law. If you really don't know, I can remind you.
How much did you contribute to me breaking up with Winwin?"
Brian didn't have much time to beat around the bush. He was afraid that Winnie would leave if it took
too long.
"I ......"
Wendy understood what Brian wanted to know now. She was part of the reason they broke up, but she
did not want to admit it in front of Winnie.
"Mr. Bennet, can we talk about it when Winnie is not around?"
Wendy begged and as soon as the words left her mouth, Winnie stood up again.
"Let go of me and leave me out of your business."
Winnie knew that she was redundant and that she was not welcomed there. Brian refused to let go, so
she could not leave.
"Winwin, this isn't about me and her, it's about the three of us. You were hurt the most, and she should
explain and apologize to you."
"Sit down, will you? Let's get this straight today."
Brian's voice turned soft, which was different from his cold tone to Wendy.
Looking at Brian's sincere attitude and looking at her hand in his hand, Winnie knew that she could not
walk away.
So she sat down again.
Seeing Winnie sitting down, Brian was relieved. When he once again looked at Wendy angrily, his
voice turned cold and angry.
"Wendy, from now on, I won’t talk to you alone. If you want to explain what happened that day, I'll give
you a chance, if you don't, I'll go with Winwin."
"But ......"
"No buts, you owe me and Winwin an apology."
Brian wasn't forcing Wendy, but giving her a chance to keep her dignity.
"Mr. Bennet, for the sake of before ......"
"I'm just giving you a chance because you saved my life, otherwise you'd be liable."
Brian interrupted Wendy, but she was talking about the love they had for each other, while Brian was
talking about that saved his life.
Their love for each other was in the past and Brian had already made up for it with money. So in Brian's
opinion, it can't be an excuse to forgive.
Wendy was silent, speechless. She didn't expect that Brian was not willing to bring up the past.
"Okay, then."
"I misread what happened that day, and it is my fault. I'm sorry for the distress I caused you, and I'm
sorry for the hurt I caused Winwin."
"I'm sorry, Winnie, it's all my fault. Don't you blame Mr. Bennet and don't be angry with him. I promise
that it will never happen again."
Wendy said in one fell swoop.
She admitted her mistake reluctantly, and she was afraid that she could not finish her sentences.
"You were carefully premeditated."
Brian suddenly became angry, slapping the table.
Wendy was clearly perfunctory.
"Wendy, I've given you a chance, but you don’t cherish it and are perfunctory."
"I really don't know what's in your mind, if we don't know the truth, how would we possibly ask you to
make it clear?"
Brian was furious, for Wendy had let him down and he had let Winnie down. This time, regardless of
how Wendy felt, he could never let Winnie down again.
"I was wrong, Mr. Bennet, I was really wrong. I will make it clear."
Wendy was so frightened that even her voice trembled when she spoke.
She thought that it would be over after she admitted her mistake and apologized, but she didn't expect
Brian to be furious.
"Too late, you've missed the opportunity I gave you."
Brian no longer gave Wendy a chance, nor did he give himself a chance to hurt Winnie.
"You know Caro, right? I gave you money hoping you'd live the rest of your life in peace, but you gave
my money to bribe Caro to hurt my woman."
"You called me when you saw Winwin and Stefan together, and you knew that Calvin went to pick up
Winwin, but did not tell the truth?"
Brian vent out his anger through his voice.
Winnie was right, it was because of his scruples that he let Wendy have so many thoughts. It was only
a good choice for her to cut off all her thoughts earlier. Otherwise, she would have done something
even more outrageous, and the consequences would likely be the same as Penny.
"You gave Caro a hundred thougsand after you found out Caro was too in the room."
Brian shouted angrily, putting out everything that Wendy was deliberately hiding.
When he first met Wendy, he had never imagined that they would be in the situation they were in today.
He had given Wendy too many chances and forgiven her too many times. Yet Wendy had used his
gratitude, his intolerance as a bargaining chip to hurt Winnie. This was what he couldn't accept the
most, and what he hated the most.
"Mr. Bennet ...... sorry, I am sorry."
Wendy was so shocked by Brian's stern accusation that she shed tears.
If she knew that Brian had so many details, how could she possibly weasel out of it for herself?
Her persistence had hurt her, and her perfunctoryness had cost her the best chance.
"I'm sorry, I was really wrong. I won't do this kind of thing again, and I won't think anything of you."
Wendy cried out in aggravation and kept begging for mercy. But in Winnie's eyes, it was a deserved
crime. Could Wendy really stop having any thoughts about Brian like she had said?
"Winwin, I was wrong, what happened before was all my fault. Please forgive me, please forgive Mr.
Bennet."
"I promise you, I promise Mr. Bennet, if I do anything wrong to you guys, I will be punished by God."
Brian wasn't moved at all by her apology, so she could only grovel and plead with Winnie. She even
swore a oath to make Winnie believe her.
However, before Winnie had had any reaction, Brian spoke.
"Wendy, why are you with Penny? What are you working on?"
"I ...... nohting. I went to see her in prison before and I just wanted to visit her for I know she is dying.
But I didn't expect Gloria to show up and scold Penny."
Wendy lied again, beliving that what between her and Penny was unknown.
This was her last hope, and if she admitted it, it would be all over, which was unacceptable to her.
However, her deception fell on Winnie's ears, causing the little pity Winnie had had to quickly vanish
into thin air.
Winnie was close to believing that Wendy was willing to give up on Brian, but once she said that, her
previous apology was still perfunctory and not yet from her heart.
"You should know exactly what kind of person Penny is, you shouldn't have had dealings with her."
"Wendy, I'm telling you, whether what you said is true or not, you're responsible. You need to think
clearly about how much responsibility you're going to take once Penny dies."
Brian didn't entirely believe Wendy's words, which was why he had to warn her
Wendy's obsession with him was too deep for her to figure it out with a single apology. So Brian still
had to be on guard, still had to be careful.
"I know, I will never see her again. Mr. Bennet, Winwin, give me one more chance. I will definitely not
bother you guys and I will not meet with Penny again."
Wendy had to plead in a low voice, she didn't care about Winnie's thoughts and feelings. But she had
to pay attention to Brian's emotions, she couldn't let Brian have any caution against her.
Facing with Wendy's plea, Winnie chose to remain silent.
She wouldn't forgive Wendy because Wendy still had her motives. But whether Brian forgave or not
was out of her hands.
Brian knew why she was silent. There were some words he would say again in front of Winnie even
though they had been said many times.
"Wendy, Winwin is here, I have to make my attitude clear. You and I have been in the past for a long
time, and our separation was initiated by you, and it has nothing to do with Winwin at all. Everything is
in the past, even if you have other thoughts, please put them down.
"The only woman I love in my life is Winnie, and even if she doesn't forgive me, even if she doesn't stay
with me, I won't choose another woman."
"Please listen up and remember your own promise not to bother me again, and don't play tricks to ruin
the relationship between me and Winwin."
"Your sabotage won't tear us apart, it will only make me love her and care for her more and
more."
