"If you trust me, you won’t have to worry about fighting the spiritual beasts, Commander Ling. If the

spiritual race decides to attack the camp, you just need to follow the usual strategy," Rocky said calmly.

"But how are we going to deal with the spiritual beasts?" Commander Ling asked, still doubtful of the

young man's plan. He obviously didn't understand what the latter meant.

"I'll handle them. I have my own way of dealing with those spiritual beasts," Rocky replied with much

confidence.

"Spiritual King Basil, but you have to tell me the way first, right?" Commander Ling was rightfully

worried about leaving his troops' faith to the young man.

"I'm sorry but the plan won't work if I tell you. Besides, we have to be wary of our surroundings. After

all, these walls are paper-thin." Rocky had a hunch that spies from the spiritual race littered among the

army of the western region.

Being kept in the dark didn't help with Commander Ling's growing anxiety. He was still on the edge

whether or not he should truly trust the man before him.

"What are you waiting for? Go ahead and do your work, Commander Ling!" With that, Rocky turned

around and left.

Commander Ling could only watch as Rocky left, shaking his head in dismay. Shortly after, he

summoned the three deputy commanders of the western region army to discuss their strategy, along

with Rocky's plan.

"Commander Ling, do you really want us to do nothing and just put all of our faith in Spiritual King

Basil?" one of the deputy commanders asked in disbelief.

"We don't even know the guy’s background. I'm afraid we can’t risk the lives of our troops by just letting

him deal with the spiritual beasts alone!" another deputy commander added.

"Commander Ling, please think twice before you do as he says. After all, he is working for Tucker.

Don't forget that he is also vying for the position of grand commander. If you allow his man to deal with

this problem, he'll surely take the credit for himself. That will be very disadvantageous to you,

Commander Ling."

The three deputy commanders were all weary of Rocky. They all tried their best to sway Commander

Ling’s decision since they did not trust him.

"But what other choice do we have?" Commander Ling asked as he shook his head, completely torn by

what decision to make. If there were any other way to deal with the spiritual beasts without Tucker's

help, he would be all for it.

"Truth be told, I already found a way to deal with the spiritual beasts myself." Seeing Commander

Ling's precarious position, one of the deputy commanders decided to take this as an opportunity.

"Oh, really? What's the solution?" Commander Ling's eyes suddenly gleamed in excitement as he

leaned over towards the deputy commander.

The deputy commander then also leaned forward to whisper something in Commander Ling’s ear.

Seeing this, the other two deputy commanders grew unhappy. If this plan succeeded, they would

naturally have no credit to take.

"It sounds like a good plan. It’s decided, and I’ll leave it all up to you. As for Spiritual King Basil, I’ll ask

him to stand by and wait just in case your plan falls apart." Commander Ling was overjoyed upon

hearing this. He would rather deal with the spiritual beasts by himself so that Tucker couldn’t take the

credit for it.

While Commander Ling was going over the plan, Rocky was in his lab refining a strange liquid. The

substance had the ability to weaken the spiritual toad beasts.

The beasts were not known for their strength. They only relied on their corrosive saliva to cause

damage to their opponents. If this ability got taken away, they would surely be of no use on the

battlefield.

For Rocky, he could easily defeat these beasts even in his sleep since he had extensive knowledge

about the spiritual beasts and could control them. But for the average human spirit warriors, dealing

with these opponents was no easy feat.

After working hard all night long, he finally refined the strange liquid substance into a stable medicine.

As the morning dawn approached, thirty or so spiritual toad beasts suddenly appeared from the other

side. A few of the strongest of them had the strength of a Spiritual Infant at the medium stage and had

already faced against Rocky before.

If the enemy managed to launch an all-out attack on the west region army, it would only spell disaster

for the troops. Without powerful human spirit warriors by their side, it would be impossible for them to

fight back.

The news of the enemy preparing to go on the offensive spread like wildfire and quickly reached

Commander Ling. Upon hearing this, he grew restless and uneasy, but he knew that they shouldn’t just

sit and wait for their deaths. Although flustered, he immediately ordered his troops to guard the edge of

the river and to fight back any advancing enemy.

The troops came just in time to witness the beasts jump into the water from the other side of the river

and swim towards them.

Obviously, they were very adept at swimming. No matter how fast the current ran, they all swam calmly

as they approached the bank.

Commander Ling, who led his soldiers to stick to the river bank, was not sure whether the Deputy

Commander's plan would work or not.

At this time, Rocky had already quietly appeared beside Commander Ling.

"Everything is ready. There is nothing to worry about." The deputy commander who proposed the plan

also appeared.

"Good. Now hurry up and do it." Commander Ling wanted to end the battle as soon as possible.

"Commander Ling, what are you doing?" asked Rocky, who was left out of the scheme.

"We have figured out a way to stop the spiritual beasts from crossing the river. If we succeed, we don't

need your help, Spiritual King Basil," Commander Ling said kindly.

"Are you sure your method will work?" he asked again. He was wary that they would only make a fool

of themselves which might even cost the lives of their people.

"Do you think you are the only one who can figure out a way to deal with the spiritual beasts? Humph,

don't underestimate the western region army," the deputy commander clapped back, displeased with

Rocky's doubt about his plan.

"Well, it's up to you whether you use my method or not, but you have to bear the consequences!"

Rocky could only sigh in dismay as he stood by to watch the plan unfold.

Upon hearing this, the deputy commander barked another command. Soon, the soldiers appeared,

carrying huge wooden barrels that were tied together with ropes. They then threw them into the river.

Everyone held their breath in anticipation of the next move as they watched the barrels flowing into the

river. The deputy commander then reached out for an arrow, ignited it, and then shot it. As soon as the

arrow hit a barrel, it exploded into a blazing heat lighting up the other barrels near it. Even the river's

water couldn't extinguish the wall of fire.

Rocky, who was shocked by the plan, looked carefully and saw black stains floating above the water.

The barrels were chock-full of petroleum.

Even though it was enough to send a message to the spiritual beasts, he knew it was still too early to

celebrate.

The fire was enough to stop the spiritual beasts' advance.

The human soldiers who were supposed to fight back the spiritual beasts cheered in victory when they

saw the blazing hot wall of fire.

"Well done!" Commander Ling praised the deputy commander who had thought of the plan.

"Commander Ling, please, it's only my duty," the deputy commander said modestly, but his face was

full of pride. He then turned around to give Rocky a smug look.

Meanwhile, the other two deputy commanders had jealousy written all over their face. They felt that the

other one hogged all the credit.

Just as when they were about to celebrate their victory, a mysterious and delicate figure suddenly

appeared on top of the largest spiritual toad beast. The beast then opened its mouth and sucked in all

the surrounding air.
