The Medallion Chapter 1856 Whom Should I Protect

Prev Chapter Next Chapter

"Silly girl! Don't say that. Of course, I will protect you. Otherwise, whom should I protect?" Rocky said

with a shake of his head and a smile across his lips. Of course, he knew what was on her mind. Valeria

must know that, if he was alone, he could easily break out of the encirclement of the bat-shaped

ghostly demons.

His answer stunned Valeria, who didn't expect Rocky to utter something so sweet that it further

deepened her love for him. She blushed and lowered her face for a few moments.

"Then what should we do now?" Valeria asked as she raised her head, her dazzling eyes narrowed.

"It appears I'll have to ask Rubygon to take you to the Demon Sealing Palace while I stay behind to

cover you." Rocky began to think about it at once. They weren't too far away from the Demon Sealing

Palace. Considering Rubygon's tremendous speed and strength, there was a good chance it could

break through the siege of these ghostly demons if it rushed at them with all its might. That way, he

wouldn't have to worry about Valeria. Without her by his side and somewhere safe, he could focus on

dealing with the ghostly demons.

"No, I won't leave you behind. It's too risky for you to face them alone!" Valeria stubbornly protested, a

frown on her face. She didn't want him to face danger by himself.

"Don't worry about me. I'll meet you soon!" Rocky said calmly. He then swiftly called out for Rubygon

and instructed Valeria to mount it on its back.

"Protect her at all costs. Wait for me in front of the Demon Sealing Palace!" he ordered the beast.

Rubygon let out a roar, low but fierce, as it released a violent spiritual power from deep within. It formed

its Spiritual Domain to protect Valeria from harm. Then, like a flash of lightning, it rushed out of the

encirclement of the bat-shaped ghostly demons and towards the Demon Sealing Palace.

Naturally, like predators bent on slaughtering their prey, the bat-shaped ghostly demons wouldn't let

Rubygon go so easily and immediately chased them.

Out of nowhere, a sharp sword emerged and swiftly cut into the group of ghostly demons.

Bang! A deafening sound reverberated all throughout as the spiritual power exploded among the bat-

shaped ghostly demons, killing or injuring many of them. By then, Rubygon was already far away.

Realizing they had lost their target, the bat-shaped ghostly demons immediately turned their attention

to Rocky with covetous eyes.

Rocky wielded the God-killing Sword in his hand, spiritual power filling his entire body. He no longer

had to worry about Valeria. He could now unleash the full potential of his fighting power without holding

back, without mercy.

Rocky quickly morphed into a light shadow and rushed towards the band of bat-shaped ghostly

demons, the God-killing Sword that he wielded in his hand morphing into a shadow as well. As he

swung it into the flesh of those ghostly demons, their corpses all fell into the ground surrounding him.

However, these bat-shaped ghostly demons seemed to come at him like waves in a storm crashing on

the shore, ceaseless and relentless. He calculated that it was time to catch up with Valeria and

Rubygon. He raised his sword once more, its golden light suddenly lighting up before it pierced the sky

hovering above.

After that, Rocky used the God-killing Sword to deal with the rest of the ghostly demons as he charged

forward and left a path full of blood and flesh behind him. He then went after Valeria and Rubygon.

It was hard to determine his exact location in the thick black fog. All Rocky could follow was the smell

left behind by Rubygon.

He soon lost track of how long he had chased after them. Along the way, he encountered even more

ghostly demons that tried to block his way. However, Rocky was a completely merciless killing

machine. A few measly ghost demons wouldn't stop him at all.

A few hours later, the black fog gradually dissipated until no trace of it was left. The path before him

was now clear.

Rocky spotted a stone bridge, a structure constructed of flat stones that spanned across a crack in the

dark, bottomless abyss below. It looked as though it had been split in half by a divine weapon.

On the other side of the stone bridge, the tower-shaped building he had previously seen stood before

him. This was where the Demon Sealing Palace was located. Upon closer inspection, the Demon

Sealing Palace looked even more ghostly and demonic. Despite this, it still gave off an aura of

reverence where gods and demons would frequent.

Although there was still a long distance between him and the Demon Sealing Palace, Rocky could

already feel the strong pull of the evil aura rushing towards him. It was an indescribable sense of

oppression that would make any normal person's heart tremble. If he was a little weaker and didn't

have the strength to resist such a force, he feared that even simply crossing the stone bridge would be

difficult.

However, from where Rocky stood, it appeared that there was no enchanted barrier protecting the

Demon Sealing Palace. Of course, just because it wasn't visible didn't mean it didn't exist. It was most

likely well hidden.

He then headed to the stone bridge. There, on the left of the bridge's opposite end, lay a tired Valeria

leaning against Rubygon.

Realizing he was safe and sound, Valeria was overjoyed. She immediately stood up and strode

towards him.

"Did you come across any danger along the way here?" Rocky asked her, concerned.

"No. Rubygon was fast enough to get past the ghostly demons that chased us on the way here,"

Valeria replied with a shake of her head.

"That's good. Now, let's get familiar with the terrain surrounding the Demon Sealing Palace just in case

we need it!" Rocky instructed thoughtfully. His next mission was to prevent the others from entering the

Demon Sealing Palace, especially Enoch. Knowing that he was in collusion with the demonic race in

the Holy-Evil World, he needed to be fully prepared.

Valeria nodded immediately.

The two of them together with the beast looked around the Demon Sealing Palace. Because they

weren't sure about the enchanted barrier's defensive position, they didn't dare to get too close to the

palace just yet.

After more than half a lap around the palace, Rocky was certain that no one else had arrived before

them. This was definitely good news since it meant he had enough time to prepare.

"Prince Zain's and Prince Enoch's teams won't arrive here any time soon. You and Rubygon will hide

somewhere to rest and recover. I'll make a few preparations," Rocky informed her after thinking for a

while.

"Okay." Valeria didn't refuse. She was exhausted and needed a rest. After that, she found a quiet and

safe spot with the beast where they could recuperate.

Rocky then withdrew some sacred weapons and carefully arranged them around the Demon Sealing

Palace, forming a defensive ring enough to resist Zain's and Enoch's teams.

After preparing for the upcoming battle, Rocky returned to where Valeria and Rubygon were resting. He

took a seat beside them and began to recover the spiritual power that had been consumed.

"Is it possible they won't be able to find this place and retreat in the end?" Valeria asked on a whim.

"Really? How cute, Valeria. Do you think it's possible? Right now, the competition will determine who

will be the successor to the Shura Race's king. Prince Zain and Prince Enoch won't stop until they get

what they want!" Rocky chuckled. He was amused by what she had just said.

"I just hope they don't find the Demon Sealing Palace so we don't have to fight them!" Valeria voiced

out. She knew it wouldn't be easy for Rocky to fight against Zain's and Enoch's teams on his own. She

didn't want anything dangerous to happen to him.

"I hope so, but what is likely to come will come eventually," Rocky said with a shrug. He never allowed

himself to be too optimistic, and he always prepared for the worst.

While the two talked, Rocky suddenly felt that someone was spying on them from the corner of his eye.

He looked sideways but then, after looking in that direction, didn't see any suspicious figure.

However, once he turned around, he sensed the same feeling creep up on him again.

"How strange!" Rocky couldn't shake off the feeling that something was wrong. He stood up and told

Valeria, "I'm going over there to have a better look. If anything happens, let Rubygon call me."

"Got it! Be careful." Valeria nodded.

Rocky then walked towards the direction where he suspected someone suspicious was watching him.
