The Medallion Chapter 1710 The Dark Abyss

Rocky was standing firmly on the vine. However, he lost his balance due to the force of the spiritual

power wave and was soon pushed over the cliff's edge. In the blink of an eye, he was sucked down by

some invisible force before disappearing into the vast darkness at the bottom of the cliff.

Once Valeria came to her senses, she realized that Rocky had been devoured by the darkness and

disappeared without a trace.

"Godly Genius Odin!" Valeria continuously shouted at the bottom of the abyss, but Rocky never

responded.

As she stared blankly into the chasm before her, Valeria felt a wave of emotions come crashing over

her. She felt an inexplicable pang of regret since this was the second time Rocky had saved her. She

felt as though their roles should have been reversed, with her saving him instead.

Given her strength and experience, she was supposed to be the one to take care of Rocky. The result

however ended in her being taken care of every time!

But Valeria didn't let the panic overcome her. Despite Rocky falling into danger due to her

carelessness, she believed that he wouldn't go down so easily—even though predicting his chance of

surviving was hard to determine at the moment. If something happened to him, the only thing she could

do to repay him for all he did was complete her task. Then at least he didn't save her for nothing. She

had to keep moving forward alone, deep into the Nether Dragon King's lair.

Thanks to Rocky, she was able to pass through the cliff safe and sound. She was certain there were

more dangerous things awaited her. Nevertheless, she couldn't afford to make any more mistakes

since there would be no one else around to save her.

After she calmed down, Valeria took a short rest before continuing to explore the Nether Dragon King's

cave.

Two unfamiliar figures appeared before the cliff the moment after she passed through it. They were

none other than the Godly Geniuses of the Purgatory Fief and the Elite Fief.

"They're joking, right? The Primitive Fief's guard team wasn't that impressed!" Drew boastfully pointed

out.

"Since the Godly Genius of the Ghost Fief has broken the enchanted barrier, everything plays to our

advantage," Quentin added with a sly smile.

"You're right. I am grateful we decided to team up. I hope our trip to the Nether Dragon King's location

will be just as smooth," Drew said.

"The pleasure is mine, as well. Let's continue to work together. If it wasn't for your unique transforming

skill, we wouldn't have been able to enter the cave under the Primitive Fief's nose so easily," Quentin

replied kindly.

"Ha-ha, you're right. Let's move on!"

Soon, the two Godly Geniuses arrived at the cliff. They paused and decided to take a closer look

before taking any further action. The cliff looked far from ordinary.

With his deft hands, Quentin cautiously summoned a spiritual bird big enough to fit into a human's

palm. With a chirp, the bird took off from his hand and flew swiftly towards the cliff across the gap.

Their eyes followed the flying creature closely. Just as they expected, its wings ceased to flap after it

flew only a dozen meters. It fell and was devoured by the darkness in the blink of an eye.

"There must be some force that counters any spiritual power at the bottom of this abyss. Anything

imbibed with spiritual power seems to be sucked down into it once it is near enough," Quentin

proposed.

"I'm afraid we'll need to find another way," Drew said with hesitation.

"Stop fooling around. It's just a gap. If we can't get pass it, we might as well just quit and go home now.

If we can't pass through a simple gap like this, how can we even subdue the Nether Dragon King?"

Quentin added with a mocking smile. His eyes never left the cliff on the other side.

"It sounds like you've got a plan. Tell me," Drew said at once.

"Our leader provided me a spiritual weapon in case I needed it before heading off. I wonder if now is

the right time to use it." As Quentin spoke, he summoned a mud statue out of nowhere with a deft wave

of his hand.

"It looks like a mud man!"

"I bet you've heard of the legend of how the Creator made us Shura Race," Quentin said.

"Of course I have."

"It's said that our ancestors were mud men made of the powder of colored crystals and the soil. These

mud men, later on, absorbed the spiritual powers from both heaven and earth to cultivate into the

divine figure. This spiritual treasure was made from the exact colored crystal powder mixture," Quentin

explained.

"So these colored crystals do exist?"

"Yes. Back in the old days, our leader was lucky enough to get his hands on a small piece of such

crystal during one of his lucky encounters. Although this mud man may look ordinary, never

underestimate it. Once it absorbs spiritual power from both heaven and earth, it can transform into all

kinds of things." As he spoke, he gently placed the mud man on the ground and began to murmur to

himself.

A moment later, a red light suddenly glowed from within the mud man as it began to absorb the spiritual

power surrounding it. It began to grow in size as the mud cascaded and flowed all over its body.

"My servant, I command you to make a bridge for me to cross over this gap," Quentin ordered

immediately.

The mud man turned around and made its way towards the cliff's edge. As it continued to grow, it

began to turn as hard as stone. Eventually, it became a mud bridge that traversed the cliff's gaping

maw.

Drew was stunned by what he had just witnessed.

"Let's go!" Quentin exclaimed, beaming with pride.

They crossed the bridge together. It was then that the race to conquer the Nether Dragon King formally

began.

After falling off the cliff, Rocky felt as if the entire world was spinning. Despite the mind-numbing

dizziness, he suddenly felt himself floating upwards in the infinite darkness. However, he could feel

something lurking somewhere deep in its depths.

Therefore, he began to explore the darkness to try and locate the source of that seemingly powerful

"something".

After a while, he could feel his feet being sucked towards the source of the power which caused his

body to drift deeper into the bottomless pit of darkness. He felt that there would be no end to this never-

ending night.

Finally, Rocky dropped with a heavy thud as he unexpectedly fell into a body of water. He ended up

drinking two mouthfuls of water as he did his best to readjust his balance and float on the water's

surface.

As he opened his eyes, he no longer was blinded by endless darkness. He could faintly see uneven,

rocky walls all around him. He appeared to be in a cave that seemed to be completely closed off.

However, Rocky soon realized that something was off. If the cave had no entrance or exit point, how

did he end up here in the first place? He was at a complete loss for words.

He looked all around to try and make sense of what just happened to him.

He needed to find out the answer.

Given his high level of intelligence, it wouldn't be difficult.

In less than five minutes, he had come up with an answer. He proposed that the Nether Dragon King's

lair wasn't just an ordinary one. It was very likely to have numerous spaces such as this one. The dark

abyss he had just fallen into earlier was very likely an entrance into another one of these spaces.

This meant that the Nether Dragon King's lair was built with some great force. One that only gods could

control, it seemed. Could it be that they were the ones who built this lair? But why?
