It didn't take long before the army of the human race gained an advantage over the army of the spiritual

race guarding the food and provisions.

Now, it was the Purple-flaming Phoenix's time to shine. It had been hiding in the dark, ready to attack.

Raising its majestic head, it let out a ferocious roar and rushed towards the carriages. Spurting hot

flames from its mouth, the Purple-flaming Phoenix set the carriages ablaze.

Their attacks had caught the troops of the spiritual race off-guard. With their food and provisions now

on fire, they frantically tried to put out the flames but to no avail. After a while, they could do nothing but

watch helplessly as their supplies were burned to ashes.

It took almost only ten minutes until everything was burnt to a crisp.

"Retreat!" Seeing that his mission was accomplished, Maxwell gave the signal to fall back.

Soon, the human army of a thousand people began to retreat while the Purple-flaming Phoenix

covered them.

The spiritual race's soldiers were terrified of the Purple-flaming Phoenix, so they didn't dare to chase

after them. Instead, they watched remorsefully as Maxwell led his army away.

With their supplies burnt, their commander sent a report to Phelps immediately.

Phelps, who was in charge of the army attacking the Tiger Whisker Pass, grew furious when he heard

that their supplies were ambushed and burned.

Food and provisions were an army's lifeline. Moreover, Phelps had tens of thousands of people under

his command; the sheer amount of supplies they needed for just one day was astonishing. Without

food, they were all going to starve. It would only take around three days of no food for them to succumb

to their doom.

"Damn it! These humans are despicable," Phelps cursed angrily. Blue veins stood out on his forehead

and his eyes were bloodshot with rage. Ever since the military distribution map was stolen, it seemed

the humans never run out of tricks up their sleeves. The unfortunate series of events were making him

go crazy.

"We have to seize the Tiger Whisker Pass today, no matter what!" Phelps knew that, if they didn't take

the Tiger Whisker Pass this time, his army would be destroyed. Hunger would soon overtake them;

they might not even have a chance to retreat. Their only chance at survival now was to get what they

came for.

As a result, Phelps ordered the soldiers to attack more fiercely.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the battle, Rocky and Commander Wei were in fighting heatedly. Rocky

was simultaneously keeping an eye on the battlefield, and he noticed when the spiritual race's attacks

grew more intense.

'It seems that Maxwell and his men have succeeded in sneak attack, so the army of the spiritual race is

growing desperate. They must want to take down the Tiger Whisker Pass and grab our food and

provisions,' Rocky thought to himself.

Although the more intense efforts of the enemy also increased the pressure, the message was clear. If

the spiritual race didn't seize the Tiger Whisker Pass, their morale would plummet dangerously.

'It's the perfect time to carry out my plan.' Rocky narrowed his eyes and suddenly swung the Mystical

Dragon Sword in the air. The violent sword force knocked Commander Wei backwards.

At the same time, Rocky quickly flew back to Tucker's side. "Commander Wang, order the soldiers to

withdraw to the south side of the Tiger Whisker Pass immediately."

"What? Why?" Tucker searched Rocky's eyes questioningly.

"We need to widen our advantage and we need to prevent more soldiers from entering the Tiger

Whisker Pass," Rocky said seriously.

Tucker didn't fully understand what Rocky meant, but he trusted him, so he immediately ordered the

army of only a few thousand people to mobilize to the south of the Tiger Whisker Pass.

After Tucker led the army to the south of the Tiger Whisker Pass, the Human-shaped Giant Beasts

followed suit. There, they formed a straight line, effectively blocking the soldiers of the spiritual race

from pursuing them, like a wall of flesh. Then, they began to stamp their feet on the ground, causing

the earth to tremble.

"What are you waiting for? Attack!" Commander Wei shouted at the soldiers of the spiritual race.

The soldiers then tried to break the Human-shaped Giant Beast barrier, but all of a sudden, the ground

beneath their feet began to crack. The crack grew bigger and bigger with every stomp.

Obviously, the army of the spiritual race did not expect that the ground they were standing on would

suddenly collapse from under them.

Soon, thousands of soldiers of the spiritual race fell down into the earth's newly-formed crevices. The

air was filled with fearful shrieks and miserable screams—it was haunting.

Seeing this, the rest of the soldiers of the spiritual race were stunned. Looking at corpses at the bottom

of the huge, deep pit in front of them paralyzed them.

Commander Wei was caught between a rock and a hard place. If he didn't have the poor soldiers

saved, they were doomed. But if they did try to save the soldiers, they wouldn't be able to continue

attacking the humans.

"Report to Grand Commander Phelps right away and ask for instructions!" Commander Wei barked,

unable to make a decision in the end.

After Phelps received the notice, his face turned a ghastly pale.

"Keep attacking!" Phelps ordered. It was obvious that he had lost his cool. Rescue wasn't an option for

him, seizing the Tiger Whisker Pass was of utmost priority.

Commander Wei couldn't help but feel surprised when he received Phelps' order. It would obviously

hurt the morale of the soldiers if he let the thousands of soldiers continue to attack without saving the

ones in the pit, but he could not disobey the military order. Therefore, he led his soldiers around the pit

and continued chasing after the human army, who seemed to be retreating to the south of the Tiger

Whisker Pass.

Thanks to the huge deep pit, the spiritual race had to take a detour, giving the human army a chance to

rest, albeit a short one.

"Commander Wang, the casualties the spiritual race suffered just now must've greatly affected their

morale. This means we have the chance to strike." Rocky explained his plan. In fact, his purpose of

creating panic was not simply to buy time, but to create an opportunity for them to win the battle.

"Strike?" Tucker echoed dubiously. "Is there any other way to get out of here?" Obviously, he didn't

understand Rocky's plan.

"When the army of the spiritual race come after us, there will be a way. The reason why I asked the

spiritual beasts to dig a deep pit is not only to stop the army of the spiritual race, but also to create an

opportunity for us to get out of the city and capture their leader," Rocky said confidently.

"What? Do you plan to...?" Only then did Tucker understand what Rocky meant, and he felt all the color

drain from his face. He didn't expect Rocky to be so bold.

"Yes, I want to capture their grand commander. Their main force is already in the Tiger Whisker Pass.

So there are not that many soldiers protecting their grand commander." Rocky nodded. "The army of

the spiritual race certainly won't be expecting it. If we can successfully break out of the encirclement,

there should be a good chance for us to turn the tables."

"Spiritual King Basil, you're too bold. But I guess we have no other choice. Your idea is the only way for

us to emerge victorious." Tucker's eyes flashed. Anyway, it was a battle between life and death, so he

had no choice but to play along.
