The Medallion Chapter 1706 Heavily Guarded

"Despite his power, Tobias was too arrogant. It's a terrible idea to fight on the battlefield with such an

ego, which is why he died at my hands. He deserved it," Vivian said proudly.

"Now that Tobias is dead, the people of the Primitive Fief ought to watch out and behave themselves!"

Valeria exclaimed with a snort.

"I don't think so. But in such a short period, they wouldn't dare think it's easy to ruffle our feathers."

Rocky shook his head. They slaughtered a Spiritual Emperor of the Primitive Fief. The fief's people

would never let this go easily but they would never dare to act so abruptly either.

"Let's take a day off. We'll be on our way tomorrow!" Vivian ordered.

A few hours later, news spread to the guard team of the Primitive Fief that Vivian killed Tobias. They

were near the area where the Nether Dragon King's lair was stationed.

"What? Tobias was murdered by Vivian?" This news shocked all of the Spiritual Emperors of the

Primitive Fief.

Tobias' strength was only second to that of Israel and another high-level Spiritual Emperor in the team.

He was one of their most powerful fighters, so the news of him being killed so easily was quite

unexpected.

"Considering his strength, Tobias would be too difficult to kill for an ordinary warrior. He must have

underestimated his enemy!" Israel's face darkened at the revelation. The overall strength of his guards

was certainly reduced now that Tobias was dead. Fortunately, they were already near the lair of the

Nether Dragon King, so their progress wouldn't be greatly affected. Still, this was a huge loss for the

Primitive Fief.

"These bastards have gone too far. How dare they hurt our people?"

"That's right. We can't tolerate this anymore. I'm willing to lead a group and kill them once and for all!"

"If this news spreads, the others will think the Primitive Fief are all cowards who can't defend

themselves!"

The Spiritual Emperors of the Primitive Fief were greatly displeased and utterly enraged.

"Everyone, calm down. We will undoubtedly have our vengeance. But right now, we're getting closer to

the Nether Dragon King's lair. As long as we stay on course and reach it, your mission will be complete.

By then, I won't stop any of you from seeking vengeance. But we must guarantee our safe and smooth

arrival at the lair first," Israel declared, reminding them all that their mission was the top priority.

"Yes, you're right." None of the Spiritual Emperors dared to object.

Meanwhile, the other two guard teams that were also trying to get closer to the Nether Dragon King's

lair received news of Tobias' death as well.

At the camp of the Purgatory Fief's team, a Spiritual Emperor returned and reported Tobias' demise.

The Godly Genius of the Purgatory Fief was an eighteen-year-old boy named Quentin.

He was the nephew of the Purgatory Fief's leader. Despite his young age, he was especially talented

even when he was a kid. Not only was he an expert at summoning demons but he was also quite

meticulous and extremely intelligent. In fact, he was so intelligent that he was thought to be the

smartest one among all the nine Godly Geniuses.

"Interesting, isn't it? I didn't expect the Primitive Fief to lose a Spiritual Emperor at the premium stage

so easily," Quentin brought up with a mocking laugh.

"If the Ghost Fief and the Primitive Fief continue to fight like this, it will be to our advantage," a Spiritual

Emperor shared with a sinister smile plastered across his face.

"It's not that simple. Israel may look careless, but he is very cautious. He must have thought of the

situation you just mentioned, so he'll certainly make a move against the Ghost Fief once the latter

arrives at the Nether Dragon King's lair. Since the guard team can't interfere with taming the Nether

Dragon King, this is a job that should be left solely to a Godly Genius. By then, the guard team's duty

will be to stop any other team that tries to get close to the lair," Quentin explained with a wave of his

hand.

"Then we don't stand a chance, do we?"

"That's not necessarily the case. Entering the Nether Dragon King's lair is no easy feat. But the person

who manages to achieve occupying the entrance to the lair will secure the upper hand," Quentin

added. A hint of deviousness could be seen in his eyes.

"You mean…"

"I'm certain the Primitive Fief will arrive at the entrance first, but it's hard to say who will follow them.

Since there currently is a feud between the Primitive Fief and the Ghost Fief, there's no reason for us to

rush to get to the Nether Dragon King's lair. Why don't we help the Ghost Fief reach the lair quicker?

That way, a big battle will ensue between them as soon as they arrive," Quentin proposed.

"Oh, excellent! What an excellent idea!" the Spiritual Emperors exclaimed in awe.

"Make the necessary preparations. We should be ready to set off right away," Quentin ordered.

Soon, the guard team of the Purgatory Fief turned around and headed to the joint guard team of Rocky

and Valeria.

Three days quickly passed.

After slaughtering Tobias, the joint guard team went on smoothly with little hindrance.

"There are only two days left before we reach the Nether Dragon King's lair..." Meanwhile, in the tent,

Vivian, Rocky, Valeria, and the Spiritual Emperors were listening to the reconnaissance team's report.

"Very good. But the closer we get to the Nether Dragon King's lair, the more cautious we ought to be!"

Vivian warned everyone.

"Agreed. I didn't expect things to go so smoothly over these past couple of days. We hardly

encountered any trouble along the way," Valeria pointed out. Since the joint guard team wasn't met with

any obstacles, she could now concentrate on recovering. Nearly seventy percent of her injuries had

been healed.

"But don't you find it strange? The closer we get to the center, the more diabolic beasts we should've

encountered. Yet we saw none..." one of the Spiritual Emperors pointed out immediately.

"The answer to your question is simple. Someone must've helped us!" In fact, Rocky had already

thought of this earlier.

"Someone was helping us?" Vivian and the rest looked at Rocky, confused.

"Yes. Someone must have wanted us to arrive at the Nether Dragon King's lair as soon as possible,"

Rocky speculated.

"What? But who would be that kind?" Valeria snorted.

"The other Godly Geniuses. They probably want us to fight against the Primitive Fief and take

advantage of the situation." Rocky smiled.

"I see." Vivian immediately understood what he meant.

"Then how do we go about this situation? We can't just let other Godly Geniuses take advantage of us

like this!" Valeria questioned quickly.

"There's no need to do anything at the moment. Now that someone is clearing the way for us, we can

avoid tons of trouble. Isn't it perfect? As for the rest, we'll talk about it once we get to the Nether Dragon

King's lair. Moreover, we don't have any background on our enemy yet so we can't risk acting so

suddenly either," Rocky replied with his explanation.

"It's the only way." Valeria agreed with him. The most important thing right now was to arrive at the lair

safely first.

With this in mind, the joint guard team continued to move forward for two days before finally arriving

near the Nether Dragon King's lair. They knew that the lair's entrance must have been guarded by

people from the Primitive Fief, so they didn't risk trying to break in. Instead, they found a safe area

nearby to set up camp and sent two Spiritual Emperors to the entrance where they would collect more

information about their enemy.

As expected, the two Spiritual Emperors returned not long after and immediately reported, "The

entrance is heavily guarded by guards from the Primitive Fief. An enchanted barrier has been set up as

well so that no one can sneak into the lair, not even a fly."
