The Power Transfer
It did not mean he would be kept in ignorance.
Among the words and between the lines of the project, Jordy knew this project was Gloria‘s work.
He was shocked and found it unbelievable.
Angela breathed a sigh of relief after telling the whole story.
She scrutinized Jordy‘s expression warily and whispered, “There is nothing I can do about it. The top
management felt Gloria was too young to take on the project, but Mr. Brown… He likes Gloria a lot.
Maybe he wants to take this chance to please her and pursue her, but the company cannot allow Gloria
to ruin its reputation. In this case, I just want to ask, will, will you…
For a moment, Angela felt a little choked up.
Why did her father want her to talk to Jordy about it?!
Why did he give her the project?!
Her father‘s assistant found her and gave her this project while telling her exactly what to do just before
she came out.
She wanted to turn down this task at that time, but her father‘s assistant had been very persuasive. It
may work out. She could always have someone else to do the job for her while she took the credit as
the person in charge. She thought. Moreover, she had more time to spend with Jordy!
But now!
She felt somewhat self–conscious as it sounded that Jordy was a reluctant option after the talk with the
Browns broke. She hastened to explain again,
“Jordy, don‘t get us wrong. In fact these projects are…”
Angela closed her eyes and tried to explain in a better way, afraid that she would leave Jordy a worse
impression.
“Because Gloria wants to take back the Whites, after all, the company used to be her father‘s. My
father did not argue, after all, Gloria is a white and his niece. But everyone in the White family has
dedicated themselves to the company. Father was afraid that the power transfer would cause instability
in the company. So he wants Gloria to take her time and get more training to deal with some tough
projects. She is, after all, too young.”
Jordy did not speak. Compared with driving her home now, he was apparently more interested in
hearing out her story.
With her mind in turmoil, Angela continued to explain, “The projects she was given were actually… We
thought these projects, which were almost impossible to finish, would frustrate her and dampen her
spirits so that in the future, she could go further in her career.”
Angela continued the explanation while, in the van, Jonathan‘s eyes gaze fell on Gloria as he asked,
“Er, do you really have taken on all of these by yourself? With one word, I would get you the Whites.”
Gloria‘s eyes glistened as she turned to look at him, smiling, “Thank you, Mr. Brown. I would prefer to
take it over myself. It is more meaningful, isn‘t it?”
It was her father‘s company. She wanted to take it back through her own efforts. She did not want to be
the noble lady who inherited it. That being the case, those people in the company would not truly obey
her order, just as Angela said.
Jonathan smiled and said, “Well, I‘m betting on you.”
Just then, Angela‘s voice came over again.
