Unable to Hold Back
Jonathan raised an eyebrow. “Too much?”
Henry changed color and cleared his throat with embarrassment. His eyes narrowed into a line, and he
looked like he was asleep.
Henry stroked his nose and said, “Mr. Brown, you… know that she’s injured, and you’re worried. Why
didn’t you ask her about it?”
“That would make her think that I was spying on her.”
Henry was speechless.
You’re on 24–hour standby. It’s not spying or what.
Even if you mean her no harm and want to protect her, she’ll think that you have crossed the line.
Henry didn’t dare to voice his thoughts. Instead, he nodded and said, “Yeah, that’s right.”
His boss was right about everything.
Jonathan took an indifferent look at him. Henry tensed up, hesitated for a moment, and said, “Well, do I
still need to prepare the things as you instructed? They may not be back any time soon.”
“Why not?”
There wasn’t the slightest hesitation in his voice.
Henry took the order and continued to report other issues since Jonathan had no other instructions.
After hanging up the phone, Angela was in no mood to do anything. Her mind was in turmoil for half an
hour, and her shift was over.
Regardless of everything, she went straight to her father’s office.
She would go home with him.
Suppressing her anger, she planned to question her parents at home.
Claude hadn’t expected his daughter to come. He asked with confusion, “What brings you here?”
She greeted a shareholder in the office first and then said, “I’ll go home with you.”
The shareholder laughed, “Sir, your daughter is so sweet and considerate.”
Delighted by the compliment, Claude also laughed, “Indeed, she is considerate, and so is your
daughter. I saw her last time. She was well–behaved and sensible.”
“Ha–ha, my daughter is like a boy. How can she be well–behaved? Well, since you’re going home,I’ll
leave you to it.”
Claude smiled, ended their conversation, and went home with Angela.
His depression had lasted quite some time, but he was in a good mood today.
He looked at his daughter and asked, “Angela, why do you want to go home with me today?”
“I’m afraid you’ll go out to socialize and drink a lot. It’s bad for your health.”
“Huh?” Claude was a little surprised, “Isn’t socialization a common practice?”
Socialization was necessary for doing business.
Angela was fuming and not in the mood to talk.
Claude, who didn’t sense anything wrong, continued to chat with her, “How is your work today? Is there
anything you’re not accustomed to?”
“No,” Angela spoke and acted as usual.
Claude chatted with her for a while. She just answered his question and said nothing beyond that.
While the driver was taking them home, Angela sat in the backseat and pretended to rest. Instead of
disturbing her, Claude just browsed something on his phone.
When they arrived home, Angela opened her eyes and got out of the car.
Claude followed behind her.
At the sight of the father and daughter, Martha smiled, “You’re back. Dinner is ready.”
Angela, who had been restraining her emotions, could not hold back any longer.
