It’s Still Her
Gloria picked up the phone.
Before she could speak, Jonathan said, “Are you alright?”
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
Jonathan frowned, “I had someone inquire about you.”
“There’s no need to bother.” Gloria’s voice sounded calm.
Jonathan sighed helplessly, “You always think I’m using you and everything I do has a purpose.”
Gloria’s lips compressed into a thin line. She didn’t want to say anything, but she had to.
After a while, she sighed, “You’re overthinking this.”
Jonathan knew what Gloria was thinking, so he didn’t bring up the subject again. Instead, he spoke
quietly.
“Jordy got me in some trouble, or I would have called you in the first place.” This was a statement.
Gloria was a little surprised. But she didn’t suspect him of lying.
To the extent that Jonathan desired to use her, he would come to her as soon as he could. But he didn’t
show up today. Something must have happened.
Jordy created problems for Jonathan.
How could Gloria know that Jonathan wasn’t the only one who was in trouble? Bryson was too busy to
call her. Something kept him distracted.
Gloria said quietly, “I’m fine.”
“Well, I’m so relieved to hear that. I’ve got some business to take care of. I’ll catch up with you later.”
“OK.”
Gloria wanted to say no, but on second thought, she didn’t think it necessary to say so. Jonathan could
do whatever he wanted. She might as well say nothing to avoid any argument.
After hanging up, Gloria turned on her laptop. Although Gloria was not very suspicious of Angela, she
thought it necessary to look into her. Gloria started checking on Angela and her family.
Start with their recent phone calls.
Gloria found something wrong. Angela’s phone records showed that two calls lasted more than a
minute.
Gloria then tried to find out who called Angela, but there was no information about it.
The color drained a little from Gloria’s face.
At first, she thought Angela had nothing to do with
But now it turned out that Angela was involved in this.
Gloria rubbed her knitted brows.
After trying hard, she still found nothing and then shut down the laptop.
Who did Angela meet recently?
Just as she was thinking hard, her phone suddenly rang.
It was a call from Kristina. Gloria picked it up.
“Kristina.”
“How are you now? Sorry, I just checked Twitter. I’ve been busy with my son all day.”
Gloria smiled, “I’m fine, Kristina. You don’t have to worry.”
“I saw those thugs limping on the bus. You beat them up?”
“I’m alright with the police there.”
“I’m glad you’re alright.” Kristina sounded relieved.
Something suddenly occurred to Gloria. She hesitated before asking, “Kristina, do you have any
connections at Joseph Medical Center?”
“Yes, my sister is the deputy director over there.”
Gloria’s eyes flickered. “Well, I have a favor to ask.”
“Sure, I’ll see if she can help.”
Kristina owed Gloria a favor.
Kristina was very close to her younger sister. They always felt free to ask for help and would never
embarrass each other.
And the same went for Gloria.
