Hiding a Dagger Behind his Smile
She had just lost interest in continuing the conversation with Angela.
She had revealed much for Angela to dig deeper into.
Given her intelligence, Angela probably had figured out a lot. When they fought in the evening, she
would dig out more.
Gloria curled her lips. It had upset her to see her enemy living with no pressure.
Because of the things she had done, Angela had been summoned by the police many times. It had
made her panic and depressed, so Gloria didn’t believe Claude would tell his daughter about it. Angela
was in the dark and living in peace, which was not what Gloria wanted. She would like to see her
cousin suffer.
Just then, her phone rang again. She thought that it was Angela again but saw Jonathan’s number on
the screen.
She picked up the phone but remained silent.
Jonathan’s soft voice came. “How is your trip?”
“Good,” Gloria replied in a bland tone, as usual.
Jonathan was relieved to hear her wonted calm voice. Her composure proved that she was fine.
He smiled and asked, “When will you come back?”
“I’ve no idea. Not the boss, I don’t call the shots.”
Jonathan said in a helpless tone, “If you are with me, you’ll call the shots. Everything I have will belong
to you. Will you consider?”
Gloria was speechless.
She didn’t want to talk to the man or respond.
Not embarrassed, Jonathan chuckled, “There is a project available. Will you consider it?”
Gloria asked, “What kind of project?”
“We’ll talk about it in person when you come back. This project is very important and beneficial to the
development of the White Group. You can consider it.”
Gloria’s eyes flickered. She pursed her lips and said, “We’ll talk about it.”
Then she stopped talking.
Jonathan sighed and asked, “Did you miss me?”
Gloria was speechless. “Jonathan.”
“I’m here.” His voice was gentle, lazy, and magnetic,
Gloria frowned. She had just reminded him to be serious, but he was always like this.
“Anything else?”
That was all that she could say. She was aware that the man could not be dissuaded.
“Yeah.” Jonathan sounded natural. Her indifferent attitude didn’t affect him at all.
Without another word, she just waited for him to continue.
Jonathan then enunciated, “I miss you.”
Gloria was stunned.
Is this what his other issue is?
She was fed up and hung up the phone.
Jonathan was not surprised.
Henry was standing in front of the desk. The corners of his lips twitched. This woman kept giving his
boss setbacks, but his boss was relentless. Her heart is not in it, okay?
Perhaps his expression had given away his thoughts, and he felt a gentle gaze.
He felt the pressure and almost fell.
His boss was always hiding a dagger behind his smile. Terrified by it, he clutched the folder and bore
the brunt.
