Call Him by “Jonathan”
Soon they both finished their breakfasts. Both of them had eaten less than properly.
Gloria put down her spoon and did not spare another look at Jordy
Jordy, on the other hand, fixed his eyes on Gloria. He stared at her and calmly asked, “How prejudiced
are you against me right now?”
“Prejudiced?” Gloria cast him a cool look and asked, “After everything you have done, you wanna
concluded it as my prejudices against you?”
Jordy pursed his lips, as if he didn’t know what to say, while seemingly he was acknowledging Gloria’s
claim.
Gloria snorted and stood up. Enough was enough. She did not want to waste another breath in arguing
with him.
“There aren’t more to talk about. Stop dwelling on this topic. We are good as long as we aren’t with
each other.”
With that, Gloria got up to leave.
Jordy sat where he was with a scowl that lasted for quite a while. He did not detain Gloria any further.
About an hour later,
Gloria arrived at her office.
She took Uber to the company.
She still needed to have someone fetch her car for her as it was parked in the place where she went
yesterday.
But, when she turned her phone back on, a message from Harold popped up. He messaged to tell her
that he had driven her car back and parked it in the underground garage. Her assistant was having her
car key.
Gloria texted her back and put the phone aside. She wanted to get back to work.
But…
Somehow, she could not stop thinking of what just happened this morning. Jordy had behaved in a
more aggrieved way than she was while having breakfast with her this morning.
A feeling of irritation was bugging her again.
She turned on her computer mechanically and felt not in the mood to work at all.
With her elbows resting on the table, she cupped her palms on her forehead and closed her eyes, as if
to calm herself down.
Her cell phone suddenly rang, seizing her attention.
She managed to assume an air of calm and put the call through after seeing it was from Jonathan.
“Mr. Brown.”
Jonathan sighed somewhat helplessly. “So official again?”
With her eyes glistening slightly, Gloria changed the subject of conversation in a gentle voice. “What
can I do for you?”
“Well, There is something. Do you have time? We would talk about it over lunch?”
Gloria frowned slightly. Now everything was fine with Grandma. She didn’t want to upset her by any
means as it was bad for her recovery. Moreover, she still needed Misty Lucid Ganoderma. Without
getting a hold of the situation, she could not afford to be careless.
After a moment’s hesitation, she whispered, “Can’t you talk on the phone?”
“It’s better we talk face to face. But, anyway, it is up to you, we can meet in a private place if it is not
convenient for you,” Jonathan said casually, trying not to put pressure on her.
Gloria thought for a moment and then whispered, “OK, I’ll be there at noon with my assistant.”
Between the lines, she made it clear that the lunch date was for business only.
Jonathan’s eyes twitched slightly. After a pause, he sighed and said, “Sure.”
“See you at noon then.”
“See you.”
Gloria hung up without saying another word, leaving Jonathan to sigh by himself as he stared at his
phone.
All he felt was that he was drifting further and further away from Gloria.
She would call him by “Jonathan” not long ago, but now…
