The Truth
No!
No way!
Why did we sell our properties for no reason? My dad is the chairman of the White Group. There is no
way we’ve come down to this.
She retorted at once, “Cousin, you’re talking nonsense again!”
Her voice was accusatory, but her heart was in her throat. Holding her breath, she listened with rapt
attention and never missed a word from Gloria’s mouth.
In response, Gloria chuckled, “To be honest, I am not quite sure. It was told by others, and I haven’t
confirmed it yet.”
Angela was petrified.
If Gloria was affirmative, Angela would doubt it even if it was the truth. Now the ambiguity in her tone
made Angela feel unsure and worried.
How did this happen?
Angela was no longer in the mood to talk to her. Gloria understood her cousin’s feelings and said,
“It looks like you’re in the dark. I think we should end our conversation. Why don’t you go and ask
Claude what he has been doing lately? I heard that the top secrets of the Collins Group were hacked.”
Angela was going to hang up, but Gloria’s words made her clutch her phone with anxiety. “What do you
mean by that?”
“Nothing.”
Angela pressed, “The breach of secrets is something confidential. There is no way they would tell you.”
“I’m also a member of the Collins family. Don’t you know how much Karen likes me?” Gloria smiled with
ease and pleasure.
Angela felt depressed and lost interest in talking to Gloria. She wanted to hang up but felt confused
about the matter. “What on earth happened to the secrets?”
“19 layers of protection were breached, and only the last layer stood. I bring up the issue because it
should be related to why you sold your properties. For the greater good of the White Group, you’re
advised to talk to your father. You may be doomed if the hacker retaliates against you.”
“Make it clear!” Angela panicked. She didn’t want to believe Gloria, but the latter’s description was vivid
and hard to ignore.
She took a deep breath. Deep down, she knew that Gloria would not tell her everything. Sure enough,
Gloria excused herself, “A cáll is coming in. I’ll catch you later.”
With that, she hung up the phone.
Angela’s heart was racing, and her face was ashen. No wonder they had been living in the apartment.
Her parents told her that she couldn’t show up in public yet. In retrospect, she found that was
nonsense.
It was fine since she had been eluted. She was working as usual in her office today. No one dared to
say anything, and they were polite to her.
Moreover, she wouldn’t see any outsiders at the villa.
My mother has been haggard for a while, and my father is no longer as spirited as before. What is
going on?
Does the hacker attack have anything to do with my father selling the house?
Angela was in a panic.
She got up, intending to find her father in his office. On second thought, she didn’t think it was the right
time. Gritting her teeth, she fought back her agitation and planned to talk about it at home.
As for Gloria, she was playing with her phone. There wasn’t any call coming in.
