A Nuisance
Jordy’s frown deepened, and his face was full of annoyance. His cold eyes darted to George, which
suggested that he
didn’t want to hear any more of this.
But George didn’t care what Jordy was thinking and continued, “Maybe you’ve been in love with her for
so long, and meanwhile, you’ve got her wrong. Very wrong. You’ve always thought she and her father
forced you to marry her. You hate being mercenary, but what you need to know is…”
George suddenly paused, and Jordy looked at him coldly.
“Enough!”
There were cameras around. Jordy didn’t want another word from George’s mouth, but George insisted
regardless of whether this would be captured by the cameras. That meant George wanted Gloria to
know about this.
George seemed totally unfazed and said, “It’s not what you think. I think you’ve misunderstood her.”
For a moment, Jordy remembered the recording he had played for Gloria. It was about his conversation
with her father.
Jordy drew a deep breath and lapsed into silence. He looked down at his spaghetti and somehow lost
his appetite.
George went on when Jordy was about to put down his took.
“Don’t, don’t, eat. If you don’t eat, I’ll go ahead.”
Jordy was silent and looked terrible.
He did not put down his fork and instead went on eating.
The seconds ticked by. George and Jordy were waiting downstairs for more than two hours while Nydia
and Gloria were sleeping upstairs.
Neither of them had any intention of leaving. Everything got a bit chilly.
George glanced at Jordy. “My mouth feels as dry as a bone now. Are you listening to every word 1 Just
said?”
Jordy looked at him coldly. “Yeah, I finished the spaghetti. See?”
George was relieved to hear that, but the next moment he realized something was wrong. George
turned to him and snapped, “Dammit. You only heard me when I told you to eat. You didn’t hear
anything else.”
Jordy didn’t reply, which meant he implicitly agreed with him.
George felt that his blood pressure was through the root. He glowered at Jordy and pointed a finger at
him, too angry to say a word.
Damn! Forget it! I’m not talking to him! I was just wasting my breath! He was not listening at all.
How did I get to know him? Dummy!
In a flash, silence returned downstairs.
George began to swipe his phone to distract himself, or he would have got too mad and had a heart
attack.
Actually, neither Nydia nor Gloria was asleep.
Gloria was calm, swiping her phone, while Nydia was tossing and turning, wondering when the two
bastards downstairs would be leaving. After a moment’s hesitation, Nydia sent Gloria a message,
Gloria called her right back.
Nydia quickly picked it up, and before she could speak, she heard Gloria say, “They’re not leaving for a
while. Why don’t you sleep a little longer? Are you hungry? I’ll go downstairs and get you something to
eat if you’re.”
Nydia was speechless. “Are you kidding me? You’re injured. I can cook for myself.”
