Chapter 1188Chapter 1188 The Status Of Women

Ashlyn opened the car door and got out first.

Lucas and Spencer also got out of the car, escorting the mother-daughter duo into the hotel elevator.

Spencer, being very tactful, quickly booked a new guest room.

Th€ connection to th€ §ource of thïš dat@ r€§t$ in n0v3lebookIt was on the same floor, with only one room separating them from where Ashlyn and Lucas were

staying.

Ashlyn led them into the room, then said, “You'll be staying here for now. Try not to overthink things.”

“Thank you,” Yuri said gratefully as she looked at her. “I... I'm really so thankful to you all.”

“It's nothing, just a small effort on my part.” Ashlyn's eyes were calm and indifferent. “Let me check your

foot first.”

Yuri hesitated for a moment, then limped over to the couch and sat down. She rolled up her pants to

reveal her ankle, which was swollen.

Ashlyn crouched down in front of her, lifting her foot. She massaged it, immediately eliciting a cry of

pain from her.

“Ouch...”

“There's no damage to the bone. It's just a sprain. A few days of rest will make it better.” Ashlyn put

down Yuri's foot, then turned to the little girl with big eyes. “What's your name?”

“My name is Renae Guzman.”The little girl spoke in a babyish voice.

“What a lovely name.” Ashlyn chuckled, patting her on the head.

However, the sensation under her palm took her aback. The little girl's skull was noticeably bulging,

which left her somewhat puzzled.

“Don't move. Let me take a look at your head.”

The little girl obediently sat still, not moving an inch. Ashlyn gently brushed her hair aside, revealing an

ugly scar the size of a fist.

Beneath the startling sight was a thick mane of hair.

A flash of astonishment quickly passed through Ashlyn's eyes. “How could this happen to her head?”

That scar looked like a burn or a scald at first glance.

The scar looks like the letter G. It seems to been ironed on. Is this... man-made? Who on earth would

be so heartless as to harm such an innocent and adorable little girl?

“It's a tradition in our country. Every girl, upon her birth, has her family's surname branded on her head.

Some girls cannot bear this pain and succumb to illness.” Yuri tenderly embraced Renae. “I have it

too.”

Waves of rage surged wildly in Ashlyn's chest. This is so infuriating. What kind of terrible tradition is

this? Why do some people in this world take pleasure and pride in harming women?

She took a deep breath, her eyes filled with affection as she looked at the innocent Renae. “Renae,

does your head still hurt?”

“It doesn't hurt anymore...” Renae shook her head.Just then, their food was delivered to the room.

Spencer had specifically ordered the most exquisite and expensive set meal.

There was a balanced mix of meat and vegetables. They were rich in aroma and flavor.

As soon as the container was opened, a burst of fragrance immediately filled the air.

Yuri sat down at the table with her child, casting a cautious glance at Ashlyn. She couldn't believe that

she had actually encountered such a kind-hearted person.

“Go ahead and eat. The kid is starving.”

Ashlyn settled down on the couch, and Lucas also took a seat next to her.

The man concealed the shock in his eyes and took her hand. “Don't be too upset. Society is evolving,

and the mindset of people here can't be changed overnight.”

“But... I want to make a change!” Ashlyn's lips curled up slightly, and a glint of cold determination

flashed in her eyes. “I want to overthrow the darkness completely and let the light shine in.”

“Honey,” Lucas said softly, “whatever you want to do, I'll always be by your side.”

“Their society has a deep-seated belief in the inferiority of women and the superiority of men. This is a

repugnant ideology that has been passed down for thousands of years. How could it possibly change in

a short period of time?” Spencer spoke with a hint of worry. He could tell the ambition in Ashlyn.

She aspired to alter the status of women in society, which was an audacious thought.
