Chapter 1197Chapter 1197 No Regrets
“I've found out that Grandpa is putting pressure on you to tie the knot, and I just so happen to require a
partner with your blood type to counteract my Spirogyra poison. So, to grab your attention, I've gone to
great lengths, even stopping numerous people on the street to propose marriage, all while dropping
hints that I'm in dire need of getting married,” Ashlyn remarked.
Lucas listened attentively as she recounted the whirlwind marriage they had experienced four years
ago.
His lips parted slightly. “You've certainly managed to grab my attention; I even got out of the car to
propose to you, haven't I? It's all in your hands. But have you ever thought about what might have
happened if I hadn't approached you? Wouldn't that have thrown a wrench in your plans?”
Ashlyn looked up at him. “I was taking a gamble, believing that you'd step out of the car. And in the
end, you did, didn't you?”
Her eyes remained cool and clear, a subtle hint of dominance flashing across her face as she asked,
“So, do you regret stepping out of the car now?”
Lucas shook his head. “Not at all.”
If life were to grant him a second chance, he would still choose to alight from the car and marry her.

her, his body had made the choice before his mind could catch up. All he wanted was to marry her.
“Do you regret marrying me?” A trace of anxiety appeared on Lucas' handsome face as he
unexpectedly blurted out this question.
“No, not at all!” Ashlyn laughed. Earlier, when she was battling against the Spirogyra, her clothes had
become drenched in sweat. Now, they clung to her body, causing her extreme discomfort. She tugged
at the shirt sticking to her back. “Lucas, don't worry. Since I've chosen you, it'll always be you.”
Pausing, she stood up. “Aren't you afraid? I carry the Spirogyra poison within me. There could be other
unforeseen factors at play. It might be contagious, or it might be slowly eating away at my body... Who
knows, one day I might transform into a monster...”
Lucas gently patted her head. “Don't be ridiculous. I'm your antidote, and I promise to take good care of
you. Go take a shower; I'll find you some clean clothes.”
As Ashlyn's slender figure disappeared into the bathroom, Lucas stood before the wardrobe, lost in his
thoughts.
What exactly is the terrifying nature of this Spirogyra poison? It's unfathomable how it can swiftly
transform someone's appearance, making the victim even more enchanting... It's just so eerie and
inexplicable. Who in the world could have created such a peculiar poison? Even Ashlyn, a renowned
doctor, can't solve this issue.
Ashlyn indulged in a hot bath, the continuous echo of splashing water filling the air. The warmth of the
water enveloped her, flowing endlessly and cleansing her body. The image of Lucas offering his arm to her mouth kept replaying in her mind.
It would be a lie to say she wasn't moved.
The sensation of him risking his life to protect her was warm and sweet.
Wave after wave of warmth surged from the depths of her heart.
After her bath, she emerged to find that it was already dark outside.
Lucas called for room service, and while she was in the bath, the waiter delivered two servings of steak
along with a bottle of red wine.
The man had been sitting at the dining table, waiting for her patiently. When he saw her emerge,
dressed in a casual home outfit, her cheeks flushed and her complexion porcelain-white from the hot
bath, he found her breathtakingly beautiful.
He sat there, savoring his red wine, his gaze lifting to admire her. “Come and have some dinner.”
Ashlyn nodded, casually tying her half-dried hair into a bun.
She had just settled down at the dining table when her phone started to ring, displaying an incoming
call from Jared.
“Hello?”
Jared's voice came through the phone. “Boss, should we deliver the medicine now, or should we waituntil tomorrow?”
Ashlyn lowered her gaze, observing as Lucas skillfully sliced the steak in front of her into small, nearly
identical cubes. She raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
“Deliver half of it tomorrow. If they dare to stir up trouble, they won't get the remaining half.”
“Yes, Boss, I'll do as you say.”
After ending the call, she heard Lucas' voice. “What medicine?”
